I stayed here as a base for exploring Dorset. The room was very clean and comfortable and the food in the hotel was amazing, being gluten-free I wasn't expecting a lot but I was really well catered for! Very happy :) The best part of my stay was definitely the warm and friendly staff. I was made to feel very...

Situated on a corner of the crossroads in Wareham, getting in to the car park can be a bit of a problem - other than that, it was a great place to spend a couple of nights. We had a quick visit to Dorset to catch up with some friends near Weymouth and, as it was the busiest time of...

We went to The Red Lion in June for a meal. The food was excellent and the service was really great. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is a very olde worlde type of pub, very quaint. We didn't stay there but certainly would if we go back to Wareham in the future.

The Red Lion is in an excellent location in the centre of Wareham, which is a very historic and interesting town. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed having a large room and bathroom. The breakfast was excellent - delicious bacon sandwiches perfectly cooked. We ate in the hotel in the evenings twice and those meals were high standard too...

We stayed for one night as base for Camp Bestival. We had a clean room in the attic. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were polite and well-presented. The bar is quiet, in keeping with the generally sleepy nature of Wareham.

There are some nice tables with stools and a raised couch area to sit at. We sat and prepared to order our food when a waitress apologised and explained that 'only those over 18 can sit there'. I pointed out that my daughter is 18 - and ID was demanded. I could understand that they didn't want toddlers up there,...

We are very sorry if you were put off. The appearance of age is a very subjective matter and we do try to be fair to all guests and adhere to our policy of no under 18s on the four tables directly adjacent to the bar. Thank you for taking the time to review

We booked the room for one night as we were visiting Wareham for a millatory parade in the town. We arrived fairly late in the evening and the staff were very accommodating in serving us in the restuarant. The food was good pub good and the service very friendly. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Red Lion, after years of neglect, has undergone a refurbishment totaling around half a million pounds. The Red Lion now boasts 8 individually designed bedrooms, all of which are en-suite and some are suites. We have a formal restaurant, a relaxed snug dining area and comfortable bar with a great selection of lagers, ales, wines, premium spirits and champagnes. We are situated on the town cross in the centre of Wareham, the gateway to the Jurassic coast. Wareham is beautifully placed to tour the South coast. NB Please disregard any comments pre-July 2011 as they relate to previous operators. ... more   less
