The Old School is a very nice place. The rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. The bathrooms are large and the shower/bath has plentiful hot water--with plenty of water pressure. The building itself is bright and open, because of the many windows. The lounge is very comfortable and inviting. There is another cozy seating area in the dining room. The...

We stayed in the Old School just for 1 night when attending a function in the area. Liz and Mike have done a fine job renovating the building while retaining its character. Lots of interesting features, well furnished and immaculate. We stayed in the History room a spacious well appointed room with large bathroom, fluffy towels and nice toiletries. Breakfast...

We stayed at The Old School for one night whilst attending a family wedding nearby. The accommodation was full of character and spacious, it was also spotlessly clean. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts very welcoming. We would definitely stay here again.

The welcome couldn't have been warmer. We were given a cup of tea in the very comfortable lounge when we arrived having been shown to the well appointed "Science classroom" for our stay. We were given excellent advice about where to go for dinner and had a very pleasant evening. The room was warm, clean and comfortable. And breakfast was...

We stayed two nights in the geography room. Beautifully laid out and a fourposter bed wow! Liz and Mike made us welcome from the start and it did feel as if you were staying with family you could be so relaxed. The meal on the first night was excellent and Mikes trial tattie scones at breakfast were delicious. Would highly...

Hosts Mike and Liz were very warm and friendly and couldn't do enough for us. If anything was wrong they put it right immediately. Accommodation was in imaginatively converted former school and the 'Art Room' we stayed in was huge and well furnished with a large 'sitting room' area and an expansive view from the windows. There was also a...

An excellent Bed and Breakfast. A warm welcome and a warm house. Comfortable beds and good shower. Very good breakfast. The class-themed rooms and memorabilia are a lovely touch. Just needs a playground and some proper games like hopscotch! Well located for Scottish Dark Sky Observatory and Dumfries House.

“The Art Room, while very spacious and having a good view, has rather a small en-suite shower room, which Mike told us in advance. Some of the other guest rooms (slightly more expensive) have full-size bathroom, although the bedrooms are slightly smaller.”
