My son booked us in to the Linton Hotel for a surprise two night weekend stay recently. We had a lovely weekend, the room was clean and fresh, the staff were extremely friendly and the food was fantastic, with an extensive menu. If you decide to stay here you must try the steakhouse, beautifully laid out and great food. Pat,...

Quaint hotel lovely staff en-suite toilet needs updating but overall a great enjoyable stay with excellent food. Traditional breakfast haggis was very tasty. Lovely old church at the end of the well maintained garden. Parking is restricted to approximately 4 vehicles immediately outside of the hotel front but space roadside in the village. Steak is recommended in the lovely upstairs...

We are ex South Africans living in the north east of England, with extremely high expectations of good quality food. Visited throughout the country but never travelled back road from Edinburgh until today. Agreeably, to one review the hotel looks outdated and old from the outside, but one should stop, as my husband and I did today and were remarkably impressed,...

After being told this was a good place for a meal, I was hugely disappointed in the food I had. Soggy chunky chips, strong pongy fish, mashed petit pois. Desert no better, stale pastry and tinned custard all nuked! Won't be back.

This is an old fashioned hotel with old fashioned style and an owner that wants his guests to enjoy their stay. He said that he was a butcher to trade and recommended his restaurant with a confidence that made us give it a try. The meal was wonderful and we could here similar opinions for the diners at other tables...

We were attending a wedding nearby so stayed three nights. Our room had a king size bed, the bed was wonderful really comfy but in actual fact it was too big for the room which meant that you couldn’t open the wardrobe doors and there was a heater in the bottom of the wardrobe so space was limited for longer...

Our walking group had breakfast here before embarking on a walk to Haddington. We had freshly baked scones and bacon rolls, plus other cakes, along with plentiful coffee and tea. The staff were very welcoming and gave us the best start to our day.

22 of us started our Christmas Walk from here. Had phoned before hand and they were totally ready for us with freshly cooked bacon rolls, freshly made scones and lovely cake - even catered for someone who was gluten free. All served by a very pleasant and friendly staff, highly recomended. Bus from Edinburgh stops right outside! Louise Simpson and...

Lovely seating area, very friendly staff, and most importantly, fantastic food. We had the steak pie and 2 steaks between us. All were cooked to perfection and very tasty. The chef explained that the meat is sourced just a few miles from the village through the local butcher. Portion sizes were great and the whole meal was very reasonably priced...
