We are home from a two night stay and in essence this is an overpriced hotel needing work down. Great central location with friendly and attentive staff. The hotel was in a little bit of disrepair and while we really appreciate that the building is old, we feel more can be done to tidy it up and bring out more charm. The room was clean enough however we did have slightly dirty pillow cases and also some hair in the shower which in todays standards, is a big no-no. Our bed (room 6) was very uncomfortable. The water pressure from the shower was really poor. We had no phone signal in the hotel and the free wifi signal was less than rubbish- we barely got any use of it to be honest. At night, we turned the heating in our room off, but by morning it was pumping out heat again despite still being off, which confused us. We feel this is a £50 per night hotel, not £100. We had some drinks from the bar and the glasses were dirty on all occasions. It seems that the basics can be improved alot here.

Just back from a three night stay, this hotel is sad and neglected! We stayed in three different rooms over three nights! Room one had two beds pushed together, no head boards, one bedside cabinet squashed into the room (the room being the size of a cub board), shower room ‘tiny’, noise from down stairs awful, requested a move, which happened. Room two bathroom radiator leaked and didn’t work, shower was only a trickle of water, hooks on the back of the door, I think that was meant to be the wardrobe! The bedroom door was almost impossible to close to the point it came away from the hinges and we had to move rooms again! The third room bathroom radiator didn’t work and also leaked, ALL the floorboards creaked to the extent we tried to find areas on the floor that didn’t! The manageress contacted the faceless owner, at our request, a couple of drinks were offered in way of some sort of compensation, which we declined. If this hotel has been recently refurbished as someone on here had stated, the hotel should get their money back, it’s of the lowest standard I have ever witnessed!

Had a lovely stay in the Royal hotel, staff were amazing, very friendly atmosphere. We had fun in the bar at night, with jukebox, pool table. Rooms were lovely, very clean. Amazing cooked breakfast. No complaints at all.

Oh how I wish the previous reviews weren't true but they are 😔 Maby the rooms have been done up but very cheaply, our shower didn't work, our bathroom bin hadn't been emptied from previous guests 🤮 , don't think the bedroom had been hoovered and not so sure about the bed, didn't feel fresh.Breakfast was OK, helped by a lovely girl called Gabrielle on the 2nd morning, We have paid a lot less for a lot better, Would we stay again, NO.

Used to come here often, was always made to feel welcome, was our favourite pub in Anstruther. This is my first time since lockdown ended,And the new owners taking over. Was sad to see none of the old staff Nicola Alison , Susan and Tam gone. The people that work there now couldn't careless they are on their phones and drinking behind the bar like its one big party the place is dirty wouldn't recommend 😔
