Never disappointed when we come down to Kildonan. So relaxing in great room, very pleasant staff and good vege food. First time in ages that my husband has ordered a rare steak and it was just the way he loves it. The views as always, spectacular. All in all a great break and first class value for money. Hope to...

Loved our couple of days stay at this perfectly located hotel for our anniversary. We were wow' d at first sight of our room (room 8) with a separate seating area, with full length windows, to make the most of the amazing sea views. We spent our first couple of hours sitting watching the sun go down, with a glass...

Had a very enjoyable, comfortable two night stay with friends. Stunning location on the sea front provided many moments watching wildlife (seals, otter, birds) in binoculars from the garden or within the bar when the wind and rain were blowing. Lovely short walks in either direction. Room was very comfortable and clean. Food was good although the fish batter was...

This hotel sits on the seafront with stunning views from the bar and bistro. The room again had a stunning view out to sea. The room was clean, comfortable and met our needs. The staff that we met -management, front of house, bartender and housekeeping - were all very friendly and helpful, a credit to the hotel! The food served...

We have visited the Kildonan Hotel a few times over the years and always found it to be an ideal location right in the waterfront. The Hotel has undergone some changes since our last visit and they are definitely for the better. The new bar bistro and restaurant is nice and modern with a good atmosphere and views that make...

Stopped here for lunch as we had been camping next door and wanted a meal before we departed. I had the biggest freshest home made fish and chips. A huge portion for under a tenner. My husband had a delicious burger. There were kids meals too, great value with stunning views out to see. I would definitely recommend.

I write in response to this epic review. First night I brought 4 extra pillows to your room and when I was made aware that you felt cold I offered extra heater which your husband graciously accepted plus a hair drier for yourself. It would be pointless to have underfloor heating under the bed. Next morning when you told me...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unwind and forget your troubles at our small, family run hotel. Built in the 17th Century, it is one of the 7th oldest licensed Inns in Scotland and historically a destination that families have aspired to visit for well over 100 years. Perched on the southern-most tip of Arran with panoramic views to die for, the hotel is located right on the seafront, the beach literally stone's throw away. Overlooking the Firth of Clyde we are right in the middle of a unique eco-system with a plethora of wildlife. We have seals basking daily on the rock jetties off-shore, otters feeding and playing on the rocks and gannets diving non-stop through the day. We are also fortunate to have occasional basking sharks and dolphins visiting in the summer months and an array of birds-of-prey including eagles, peregrines, buzzards and more... Pladda Island sits directly across the sound with its recognisable lighthouse and ever changing silhouette playing host to a large colony of seagulls and gannets. And of course the famous Ailsa Craig, 'Paddy's Milestone', a bird sanctuary now but is renowned for its granite which is still used for curling stones today. The interior is fully refurbished, still maintaining some the quaint characteristics of old, while the tasteful addition of extended bistro and lounge area with floor to ceiling windows allow residents and diners to gaze for miles over a cup of tea, breakfast or an evening meal. ... more   less
