FINALLY The Crown & Anchor (Findhorn) has new management! Just been for a family late lunch and have to say we were delighted. The new management were very welcoming, the staff were all friendly and the wood fire made the place nice and cosy. The menu had a great selection as did the extensive specials board. My Mussel’s starter & Shetland Scallops main were lovely as were all other courses in our party. Add to this the large selection of beers, gins and whisky’s we were tempted to stay the rest of the afternoon 😁

Just had another lovely meal at the Crown and Anchor. Favourite place to eat. Great food with the added bonus of some friendly banter with the owner Fin and the locals. Highly recommend it for a meal.

We have had a lovely 3 night stay at the Crown and Anchor and our two double rooms were clean and comfortable and had lovely views over the harbour. Fin the landlord was considerate and helpful and the bar area is full of character and history, the perfect place to sit on a wet or windy day. We look forward to staying again.

The landlord was rude and abrupt from the minute we got through the door not only to us but other customers too. He spoke down to his lovely young staff just confirming the type of person he is,very unprofessional. His attitude ruined our day out. Borderline aggressive, and to top it off the food was below average. Perfect location but we will never return to this place purely because of the landlord! No idea why someone with that kind off attitude would be in this industry. Such a waist of a prime spot.

Drove past this pub in the afternoon and thought it looked nice with an excellent selection of fish so decided to go back in the evening for dinner. We went in at 7.30 pm exactly only to be greeted by the grumpiest of grumpies who we took to be the landlord. I asked if he was doing food to which I was told that we were too late as his cook went home at 8 pm. I expressed surprise at being told there was no food to which he responded "couldn't we get some next door?" where there was another small pub. What an attitude. This place does not deserve to be in business if if treats its customers in a such disrespectful manner. And an owner who could not even crack a smile. I felt extremely embarrassed to be turned away in this fashion in front of other customers. Places like this get one chance. He has blown that for us.

Yesterday we went to this hotel at 1-15pm for lunch, to be told that they closed at 2pm, which is fine, plenty time to enjoy our lunch we thought! The mine host was VERY rude and grumpy with us, especially when we asked for gf menu!! He stomped off to get another menu and practically pushed it into our friends hands! By this time we were raging at the way we were being treated! He then shouted across the bar from behind the counter for our order, not even attempting to come to the table for the order, then when we ordered drinks he put 4 cans on the bar with empty glasses, which we had to open and pour ourselves. This wasn’t a problem it was the manner in which they were put down that was the problem! We then got our meal, which by the way was absolutely lovely, then asked for the sweet menu to which we were told “ you’ve no time for that, my cook finishes at 2pm and she’s back at 4-30pm so I need to give her time off, but there’s a cafe just further along the road that you could get from!! When I asked for the bill, again he snapped and said you’ll get it when you come to the bar, then proceeded to print it off to get us out quicker!! He certainly wasn’t slow or grumpy at taking the £78 for 4 cans and 4 main courses though! Needless to say this explained why all the other establishments were heaving and his was empty!! We certainly won’t be back and wouldn’t recommend this place to any one!! By the way the little chap who served our lunch was very polite and courteous.

We went to the crown and anchor for lunch. We chose the seafood. Hubby had smoked mackerel with salad a and wastle bread and butter. I had the scallops with salad and bread and butter. We then shared the seafood platter. This consisted of smoked salmon, prawn Marie rose, salmon fillet, roll mop herring, smoked mackerel, salad and bread and butter. It was all so fresh and presented well. I had a large chardonnay, hubby had a pint of lager. All in all it came to £44. Excellent value. Service was fast and staff were pleasant and helpful. Highly recommended if you are in the area

This 18th century hotel is situated in a gorgeous location. The food is decent, and the beer well kept (we enjoyed the homemade cheesecake). The whisky bar is extensive and recommended. A lovely couple run this place and are great company, and very biker friendly too! One to return too for sure.
