Drinks too expensive, the manager is rude and unfriendly, the bar lacks atmosphere, the place does not have the typical Findhorn character. The food was good and arrived in good time but what is the deal with dinner ending before 8pm...arrive in time for staff/manager to leave by a certain time?! Are customers there for the managers convenience? Not a...

Repeat customer - travelling back from Macduff we didn't miss the chance to pop in again. The food was delicious we opted for the mussels and cullen skink for staters which both tasted fresh and excellent prepared. My son had the mac and cheese which reminded me of my mums - very moreish indeed. I couldn't stop sampling it. Anyway...

We went to this restaurant for the first time yesterday on recommendation. We love seafood and we're looking forward to our dinner. The fresh mussels ( a starter) were a disgrace. Clearly cooked some time prior to serving, probably the day before, the mussels were desiccated, small and shrivelled. They had been reheated probably in a microwave and served with...

I do not as a rule reply to reviews but in this case I thought I should firstly I am sorry that you did not enjoy our food. all of our food is prepared at the time of your order including mussels and scallops which we pan fry. our sauces are freshly made on a daily basis we would never...

We experienced a warm welcome, roaring fire and excellent Scottish food and drink at this lovely old hotel and bar. All the meals were fresh and tasty but the seafood options were exceptional. We all had the Cullen skink starter and loved it. One of our party was keen to try some of the Scottish gins he'd been hearing about...

My family had yet another delicious meal tonight. Been going here about every month for a while now & never fails to serve up delicious food. Dishes such as Sticky chicken, Balmoral chicken, steak & ale pie to name but a few are delicious. I'm not a fish lover though plenty of local fish meals to choose from. Not forgetting...

Repeat visitor - the menu states "We don’t Serve fast food, We Serve good food as fast as we can!" Well I can only highly recommend the food. Today we had starters of Fresh Buckie Crab and Hot Smoked Salmon Nicoise Salad. Well delicious we both scoffed the lot while the kids tuck into a main course of Chicken Curry...

I'm struggling to decide on a starting point for this review. I would never usually write reviews because quite frankly, I have neither the time nor the desire to document every hotel experience, however on this occasion, I feel that I have to. I am a professional actor and I am constantly touring the country with theatre companies so I...

I would describe the hotel as more of an Inn with rooms, as others have commented the rooms are small, but this is a 17th century listed building and it does have carachter. The room was small as was the shower room but quite acceptable and very clean. The bed is probably the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever...

Bit of a mixed bag with this one , First off was booking. Despite booking the hotel with " Free cancellation and you pay on the day" through another site , money was debited immediately. When hotel was contacted they said it was their policy to charge immediately but will refund if you wish to cancel. Personally I dont have...

We popped in with friends for an evening meal before the Highland Tattoo at Fort Augusta. The landlord has a reputation for being a bit dour but this wasn't evidenced on our visit. He does have a dry sense of humour but was pleasant and helpful during our visit. The food was locally sourced and excellently cooked. Couldn't be faulted...
