Four friends stayed for one night sharing two rooms. My room was enormous, double aspect windows onto beautiful gardens, high ceilings. Whole house was warm cosy & peaceful. The smell of essential oil, which I love, probably geranium, greeted us as we went upstairs. Food is delicious, all guests & staff lovely, I had a bath in the free standing...

We spent 4 wonderful days at Newbold House. We were warmly welcomed by Andrew, Blue and other staff and volunteers. Our bedroom was large, light and comfortable. Meals were delicious and healthy. The productive walled garden and woodland area were a delight. It was a pleasure to share meals with interesting people: both the staff/volunteers and other guests who were...

What a beautiful historical home and garden! The working members are welcoming, kind and genuine people. My room was comfortable and clean. There are books everywhere if additional inspiration is needed. The meals are delicious. I appreciate the commitment to sustainability here. A travelers haven.

I spent a night at Newbold House Jan 4th after a stay in Findhorn Ecovillage. Highly recommend this elegant spacious House with extensive beautiful grounds and organic vegetable/fruit gardens. For £30 this staff xmas night out would have already been fantastic value had we only been given the beautiful dining room, and great meal-with veg from the garden. On top of that we had Murder Mystery co-ordinated by the staff, accommodating our ham acting, drunken patter and poor detective work(no one came close to solving the murder). In addition...

It looked like the perfect house. Beautiful victorian rooms, each one different form the others. Same for the bathrooms, each one with a different and interesting taste. Great grand piano to play on in front of one of two beautiful gardens. People working and volunteering there are amazingly friendly and it seemed to me like being at home. Thank you...

Newbold is the kind of place that you just want to keep coming back to. This is due in part to the people who are here. As a single traveller, you needn't worry about being lonely or unprovided for. It's not every time that what you read about a holiday place lives up to your expectations, but Newbold House just...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Newbold House is a beautiful 'Eco-Mansion' - an 19th century Victorian building now run by us on sustainable principles. We are a nature-based retreat and well-being centre, B&B and workshop venue, surrounded by 7 acres of beautiful grounds including a large organic veg garden. The property backs onto woodland with walking trails full of wildlife including deer, badgers, red squirrels and pine martens. Every room is a beautiful space, with locally sourced antique linens, china, books and period details such as stained glass and original fireplaces. There are 7 rooms – singles, twins and two rooms able to accommodate up to 5 beds for families or friends sharing. All rooms have their own hand basin, are a good size and have lovely views of the surrounding gardens and woods. There is free Wi-Fi access throughout the house. If you prefer a more rustic experience you can also choose to stay in one of comfortably furnished bell tents, decorated with vintage furniture and accessories. Along with our chickens we have a ‘bee garden’, traditional Shamanic sweat lodge, a garden stupa (Buddhist prayer tower) for outdoor meditation and a classic Victorian conservatory. Here, you can sit and enjoy glorious sub-tropical plants, fig and passion flowers. Our house, grounds and surrounding countryside are a great place to re-connect with yourself and with nature and the wellbeing of people and the planet is at the core of what we do. The house is run by a small community with a large skill-set – including an organic farmer, marine biologist, Shamanic Practitioner, green energy expert, musicians and a highly skilled ornamental gardener. Our group mission is to connect people with nature and nurture; teaching and sharing skills for environmental, personal and social well-being. We are based on the outskirts of Forres, in the gorgeous region of Moray Speyside and just 27 miles east of Inverness. A mere 6 miles away is Findhorn Bay, part of a coastline recently voted as one of the world’s best by National Geographic, great for boat trips and a top seal-spotting location. We are also a short ride away from the famous Findhorn Foundation community, Logie Steading, a converted farmstead of local artisans with second-hand bookshops, an art gallery and farm shop. A variety of medieval castles, Pictish monuments, gardens and a wide variety of outdoor activity providers.Homecooked organic, locally-sourced lunches and dinners available. ... more   less
