A warm welcome awaits you at this family run hotel in Lossiemouth. A great relaxed family friendly atmosphere exists at this hotel and is frequented by many returning guests and locals alike. The breathtaking view from the front of hotel overlooks the Moray Firth and beyond to the Cromarty Firth and to the hills of Caithness. The hotel is directly opposite the ancient Moray Golf Club, and is ideally situated for exploring the Coastal, Castle or Whisky trail, as well as being well situated for visiting the cities of Inverness and Aberdeen and surrounding area. The Stotfield Hotel has recently undergone a refreshing transformation of many of its bedrooms and also the ground floor guest area. However, this historic hotel retains many of its original character and features from 1895, including the fantastic sweeping staircase and period revolving front door. During your stay you can enjoy free access to high speed wireless broadband throughout the hotels public areas, free car parking (limited spaces available, ample on street parking adjacent to the hotel) but most of all comfortable and relaxed surroundings.

We only went there because it was across the road from the Norland B&B. We both wanted to have a drink so had a meal there. I would call the restaurant area quirky, not what we expected from a grand looking hotel. However the service we received was friendly and very efficient. Would love to see an expansion in their choice of meals. We went for the hot rocks but they only did sirloin steaks. What we did choose was well presented and tasty. For the food and service 5 stars, decor…. ? It’s just my opinion.

The location - Perfect The Staff - across the most are great The views - perfection The Room (125) - hmmm... old hotel which needs love which you can see from the interiors of the rooms. The curtains stained, fixtures old, pipes antique, flooring creaky, walls and ceiling peeling but the worst part was the bedding.... it had bed bugs to which I was bitten badly.... check the undersheets.... I went to complain but there's no staff after 11pm .... The breakfast though is what gives this the saving 3 star rating .... always great. Shame about the bedding...housekeeping didn't even give me clean bedding or towels..mm they just refolded them which i knew they had done as my towels were still damp from the morning use I stayed 2 nights.... if the housekeeping was better and there was no bed bugs or undersheet clearly worn out (despite me leaving it unfolded for housekeeping to see and change but didnt) then I would probably say its worth a stay....my advice is to try silver Sands Holiday Park down the road or hotel nearby.

Great staff. Great restaurant. Tired building. The location is great, overlooking the sea and directly opposite the golf club. Parking is tight (no room for my Bentley, but the golf club said it could stay overnight). No lift, but the strong, helpful lady receptionist picked up our suitcase and 2 holdalls and lugged them up the 6 flights of stairs. The restaurant food is very good, but the ambience is hardly romantic. Good for an overnight stay.

Great place with amazing views. Stayed here whilst visiting our son in RAF Lossiemouth for a few days. Wonderful friendly staff, especially Sonia and Edna. Lovely people. Spent a few hours in the bar watching the golfers in the snow. Food and hospitality was second to done. Thanks.

Me and my partner stayed in room 220 for 2 nights, it was a lovely stay but room could be doing with an upgrade. Room - You certainly aren’t getting a modern hotel room, it is outdated with a bathroom with only a shower and toilet and another bathroom with the sink and bath. Is slightly unhygienic needing to leave one room to another room to wash your hands. There were fittings hanging off the wall, paint and wallpaper peeling. The room is very spacious and has two large windows (could be doing with a clean) and one side window. The views were amazing and did make up for the outdated room. Bed - Bed was not comfy at all. It wasn’t even firm, it was solid. We were even considering leaving on the Saturday with how hard the bed was but due to travelling 4 hours we really didn’t want to, just sucked it up and got on with it. Food - Dinner on both nights were amazing, not the biggest menu but what we did have was cooked to perfection. Steak was amazing!! There is a very large variety on the drinks menu and all very well priced! Lots of options for Cocktails!! Breakfast - Included in the price but it was very stale on Saturday morning, egg was awful and the hash brown was just a big no. Bacon was hard to cut. I think it has been lying for a long time and went stale. Bread was also stale and was left out for people to take, but it had went hard. However, on Sunday when we were leaving very early the staff at hotel were so kind and helpful they cooked us bacon for us leaving before breakfast started and that tasted very nice! Staff - All staff were welcoming, approachable and couldn’t do enough. Especially the lady who worked I restaurant Friday and Saturday night plus the morning breakfast. She was a total gem and an asset to the hotel!

The full hotel could do with a bit of TLC. As soon as I walked into my room I was disappointed. I wish I’d read previous reviews before booking! ... the photos are very misleading. Working in a hotel myself, I would NEVER put one of my guests in a room like this. The bath needs resealed and the paintwork/tiling could do with being redone. Every step you take the floorboards creak. Oh, and don’t expect too much sleep, as you can hear absolutely everything outside of your room..I was woken up at 6.00am by people walking past my room! When a hotel has 47 bedrooms and free parking, you’d usually expect to get parked. Haha. I think I drive around for a good 5 minutes before finally finding somewhere to park, way up the street. The hotel offers about 8 parking spaces. Overall, I won’t be staying again. I think I’d have rather stayed on my parents couch this week than waste another £190 on this!

I booked two sea view double rooms for a weekend stay in November. One for myself and my husband and the other for my Dad, for his birthday. We had hoped for a chance to see the northern lights but the conditions weren’t the best with there being a large moon that weekend. The rooms were on the 2nd floor with views straight into the firth, over the golf course to the west beach and lighthouse. It was a great view and we were lucky enough to have mild temperatures and sunshine with a clear enough sky for viewing the stars. The hotel is located perfectly, just a short walk, past the golf course to a viewing area where there are sometimes clear sightings of the northern lights between October and April. It is an old building with creaky floors and stairs so if you’re in and out, late at night, checking on the sky, it’s hard not to make a noise. Be mindful too that there is no elevator. At 82 my Dad isn’t the steadiest on his legs and found the six flights of stairs to be a challenge. I think accessible rooms are available but we wanted the view so that was the sacrifice we made. The hotel was clean and has had some refurbishments in the public areas and guest rooms. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of hanging space for clothes. Bathrooms were clean although a bit dated and could have done with somewhere to put things ie shelf and a hook. We ate in the dining room for dinner and breakfast. This has been updated during COVID closure and looks great with mixed recycled wood wall cladding and there is also a sea view from there. Nothing was too much trouble for the waiting staff and the food was well presented, tasty and plentiful. They offer a meal deal with two courses and a drink but there was just no space left for deserts. Breakfast was a buffet with hot and cold drinks, cereals, fruit, pastries, toast and hot options of sausage, bacon, egg, tomato, mushrooms, beans and hash browns. Needless to say that set us up for the day.

Just returned from spending a couple of nights at the Stotfield and hope to be going back soon. Firstly I should say absolutely do NOT go to this hotel if you want pristine modern rooms with immaculate en-suite facilities and the ability to checkout online while earning loyalty points. DO come here if you want welcoming and helpful staff, a characterful period building, fantastic location and a hearty breakfast included in an extremely reasonable price. I was travelling from Cheshire with my son and was likely to arrive after the advertised 11pm final check in. Reception were very understanding and agreed to stay late and we were met with a smile. I lived in Lossiemouth for a few years so already knew about the Stotfields great location but waking and admiring the view over west beach on a crisp clear autumn morning still takes the breath away. As has been said in other reviews the rooms are not up to 5 star standard but for me this is an intrinsic part of the charm of this hotel. It is a wonderful Victorian building. We stayed in a top floor twin room. The ceilings must be 20ft+ high and the room was huge. The electric shower is ‘old school’ but was more than adequate and the beds were comfy. The room was clean and well presented. I dread to think how much it costs to heat a large 100yo building in the north of Scotland but the room (and the rest of the hotel) was cosily warm at all times. Breakfast buffet was great, normal selection of bacon/sausage/egg etc and cereals/pastries. Dining room staff were again smiling and helpful. We didn’t have an evening meal but did have a couple of drinks at the bar which is well stocked. The Beach is 1 minute walk. The golf club is 30 seconds! East beach and the marina is a 5 min walk. All this for less than £65/night (per room), fantastic value! The Stotfield is so much more of an experience than a soulless travelodge and we hope to be coming back soon.

We had a family birthday party at the Stotfield Hotel today, it was superb. A very warm welcome from all staff. Good communications throughout booking process. We were able to access the party room in the morning to put up some birthday banners. Our afternoon tea was lovely, great sandwiches and cakes. The kids all enjoyed macaroni cheese (our request) We all had a great party, thank you. Highly recommend
