Omg what a shock I got when I saw this hotel I don't know where to start.. when I got to the hotel the outside was very grubby all the paint wads peeling off the windows needed a good clean I entered the building omg the smell off damp & mold was awful, then at reception I was greeted by a big black dog barking .. the lady then told me I was been upgraded to the "narnia" room where I had to walk through the wardrobe to get to the bathroom.. I never ever heard anything like this before, then she told me the price was gone up to £325!!!! On booking.com it was priced at £271. I was absolutely disgusted there was no restaurant or bar opened even thought on booking.com it said it was and showed beautiful pictures of food..omg this place needs closing and revamping..Needless to say I ran..there was absolutely no way I could of stayed here. Thank god I had family I stayed with, people please beware when thinking of booking this hotel!!!…
Initially we'd planned a children free weekend but last minute issues with scout camp meant we needed to take them with us. Susan and her team were great rearranged the booking and we had two rooms looking across the loch. Fantastic view to wake up to each morning. Great buffet breakfast both of our children loved the choice available. Some amazing walks literally from the hotel doorstep. The rooms we had were lovely and spacious, my daughter especially loved the one she was in and they had all the facilities you'd expect. Added bonus for us was the hotel really is dog friendly. We are all really enjoyed the mini break and all want to go back.
We have just come back from an overnight stay with our daughters and 2 dogs and had a lovely night! It’s the first time we have taken our dogs (2 jack russels) away with us as they wld usually stay with family but thought we wld give it a go! First off the views are absolutely stunning, feel so lucky to live only an hour away from such beautiful scenery. We took our dogs on a long walk up by the old railway track as suggested by the lovely lady on reception, to settle them down but when it came to going out for dinner they were barking and howling. Happily the hotel we were going to eat was dog friendly so we just took them with us. This was the first time our daughters were sleeping in their own hotel room, they are aged 10 and 17 and they loved the experience. Our room had a 4 poster bed and a beautiful view of the loch. We all had a great time and will definitely be back!…
Booked the four seasons hotel at the last minute. The hust was absolutely brilliant when we arrived. We had booked the last room which was the small doube room. Half an hour after arriving rhe host said the was a lodge that we could move into as the family never turned up. Thr Lodge was just as expected even better. There was no chief so the kit hen was closed but dud a continental breakfast. The village shop sold hot rolls and the hotel next door did meals so was well catered for and every1 was polite and very helpful. No-one dead mans fingers though as i think I've drank it all 😁 (now my favourite drink) never know who you might meet inthebar at the four seasons. May even be someone famous 😉
We spent a weekend in one of the chalets - I specifically asked for a chalet as we wanted a quiet weekend. On booking I was informed there was no chef but the hotel nearby would be able to provide meals, this was fine with me. I was then given a talk on the challenges currently being faced by the hospitality industry which I was aware of. No confirmation was sent but I called two weeks prior to our arrival as during the lecture about staffing issues it was mentioned that it was hoped that a chef would be in place. On this call I was told quite abruptly that there was still no chef and to ask nearer the time. I called on the day of arrival to be told there was no chef but again assured that a restaurant close by would provide meals. On arrival the hotel looked a little tired, but that was ok, we were given our chalet key and at this point told that there was a very steep hill to get to our chalet. We drove there, a very short distance and saw a blue plaque saying the Beatles had stayed there in 1964, not really my thing but ok. On entering the chalet we felt it was musty and the only reference to the Beatles were two photographs. Welcome biscuits for us and the dog were a nice touch, but given this is £150 per night there were no luxuries in what we consider a very basic chalet. Quilts and pillows were thin, decor was chipped and fading with the laminate coming away from the coffee table, rot on the bottom of the door didn’t help nor did the carpets that felt a little damp. Old signage led us to believe that care and attention was lacking (perhaps due to staff shortages details are missed). The shower instructions were not relevant to the shower as an example. A continental breakfast was on offer, but given the weather (no one’s fault it is Scotland) and the VERY steep hill we passed on this (it may even be an extra charge) and decided we would wait for lunch at the hotel were we were assured meals would be served. Having walked round to this hotel we discovered no meals until 6pm. As the chalet has no Wi-Fi that we could connect to and we had no phone signal it was difficult to check. The website does mention that on quieter days breakfast can be delivered, I did not request this so maybe it would have been an option for Sunday, but to be honest I did find the welcome that warm. So back we went to our soulless chalet. Although the website talks about a funky makeover we failed to see anything funky. The tv is very small, we couldn’t find any usb points (maybe they are there but…l) the coffee station has no socket and the towels have seen better days, on check out I mentioned our disappointment and was told that it was a premium product therefore the price was justified coupled with people willing to spend the money due to the Beatles having stayed there, personally John Paul George and ringo having been there is no great shakes to me, I would rather have had quality products, In my opinion there is nothing premium about this place other than the view. Having read some responses to less than glowing reviews the defensiveness of the person is no surprise. There is no point trying to be constructive if guests are blamed. This was a very over priced stay, no where to eat and no way to prepare food in the chalet, it either needs to be glamping or have facilities at this price. We would have brought some food had we known it was going to be an issue. I would have given one star but am feeling more generous than the staff at this tired establishment. I do hope they review their offering and are successful but by dismissing comments and not making the necessary changes and ensuring this is a premium product, I fear their three stars will soon diminish.…
I booked a chalet when on entering smells of sick. It also advertises two restaurants which are closed. There is contractors in running a generator. Carpets are stained. Bedding grey and well used. I was provided with a kettle & small fridge. Feel this property is falsely advertised. And run down. Totally overpriced for the conditions.
What a relaxed and efficient staff. Always a smile and always a good laugh. I’m already thinking of going back. The hotel, St Fillans and surrounding area is somewhere all people should experience at least once. Creiff, Comrie and Callander are nearby towns with some fabulous restaurants. If you want to stray a little. But really no need. Thanks to Sue for looking after us!
Visited with my wife and parents for 2 nights during the heatwave (August 10-11, 2022) and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The lochside view from our rooms on the first floor was incredible, really eye-catching and dramatic. However, strangely in one of the rooms there was a sign advising not to raise the blinds – just to tilt them open at the slats (they were wooden venetians). We disregarded this as it seemed odd given every guest would want to enjoy the view to the fullest. To be honest, the blinds in both rooms were a bit worn and the wall fixtures to tie the pulley which raised them was broken, so we had to resort to looping it around chair-backs/the bathroom doorknob to keep the blinds up! Doing so was quite awkward and my parents wouldn't have managed it, so it's just as well I was on hand. The rooms were clean and well-presented and each contained a mini-fridge. There was a bar on the ground floor with a great selection of whiskies and a small outdoor seating area, although the wooden furniture was old and not the comfiest to sit on. We thought the space could be vastly improved with some candle-holders and new furniture. Breakfast was OK, not a huge selection but it was advertised as continental after all, and the coffee was good. The main draw of this hotel is definitely the location, the immaculate view over Loch Earn, and the owner Sue who was very pleasant to deal with. One thing to be aware of is that the Wi-Fi only tends to work in common areas, it doesn't work in the rooms. Overall, a good stay.…
This isn't a chain hotel. Hotels with character are becoming harder to find and this is one of those hotels. It has character and also just happens to have one of the best picture postcard views in Scotland. Sue was so enthusiastic. The room was large and the double bed was extremely comfy. Ignore the bad reviews. A place is what you make it and most bad reviews are by those venting their bad day through inflated expectations. Oh, and hankering on a cheap deal to boot! We all know the type and they will always miss the point, which is why this hotel will never be for them. They don't want a privately run traditional Scottish hotel in the highlands, they want 5 star luxury without paying for it and I don't think it would matter where it was. To them, I say get a life not a room! If you want to relax and unwind the Scottish way with great views, nostalgia and comfort - come here - this is it.…
A very friendly place where you can feel at home in the moment you step through the door. There is a wonderful retro feel to the place, back to the times of the Beatles, and the small group of staff (which includes the owner working 24/7) go a mile to make your stay a happy experience. Our two dogs were more than welcome. The continental breakfast was rich with choices of meat, cheese, fruit, small pasties, and lots of tea & coffee! The outdoor surrounding is priceless, with a wide range of local hiking routes. We enjoyed every moment of our eight-day holiday here!
