We've been coming to Dornoch for years thanks to one of the greatest golf courses in the world. Finding accommodation has sometimes been a challenge in the small town so we've been staying just outside in B&Bs and this was our best yet. It's maybe two minutes by car from town but situated on a rise above so there are...

Auchlea made me feel at home during my stay in Scotland. Fiona is a born hostess and creates a friendly, warm atmosphere. I enjoyed my stay very much- not only because of the cosy and neat room but also because of the fantastic breakfast (fresh fruit salad each day), the great views, the lovely garden and the enriching talks with...

From when we first made our initial inquiry, Fiona was most accommodating and made booking our room easy. We stayed for two nights and had a fantastic time. Fiona was a brilliant hostess and made us feel very welcome. She gave us a lot of tips on what to see, where to go and how to get there in the...

Fiona made us very welcome despite the fact that it was a very last minute booking due to the fact that the B&B owners where we were due to stop were called away to a funeral and had booked us into Auchlea for the night. We had a lovely ensuite room and the breakfast was really great and our dog...

What a lovely location with great views across the fields to the sea and mountains beyond. And what a charming hostess Fiona who made us most welcome and looked after us very well. Everything about Auchlea was excellent. Lovely room with king size bed and ensuite. And we certainly had no smells as one of the reviewers below was suggesting.

Fantastic guests, great breakfast & rooms. Make sure you have some haggis on the morning - it's the best I've had! Also walk around in the fantastic garden. Stay more than one night as there are a lot of things in the area.

First of all, nice homemade bread. But here the good stuff ends. We found this accommodation via "Scotlands Best BnB" with 5 stars gold rating. We spent the most of our holiday trip in 4-5 stars B&Bs which were always pleasant, thus our expectation were quite high. Unfortunately, Auchlea didn't meet those in any way. The room looked and smelled...

Just stayed the one night for a birthday treat away. Last minute decision so very lucky to find a room after trawling the interweb. Could not have been luckier and to be honest can't add much more to the recent reviews as they pretty much sum it up. A host who is genuine and loves being in the business to...

“Avoid it completely, but if you have to at least avoid the handicapped accessible room (at the end of the hallway to the right).”
  • The room with the air and smell of the retirement home of my grandparents.
  • Yellowed Bedsheet (compared to the white pillow)
  • Worn-out and smelly towels. The unused flannel dyed the water grey.
  • The mouldy shower
  • Cheap plastic and untreated wood. Nice look, but unhygienic.
