A regular meeting of friends for dinner and a chat, the Royal was chosen on this occasion. We were a bit early but the dining room was cold. A caring member of staff lit the fire for us. The standard menu was very uninspiring reminiscent of 1960s Scottish hotels and although the service was good and reasonably prompt the food...

I think this is a good hotel for no longer than 2 nights, no more than that. The rooms are quite confortables, but a bit cold to be honest. If you are driving around and you need some rest this is ok. That's it.

We had a dinner in the Royal for 4 after booking a few days in advance. The hotel is lovely and the staff very friendly. We enjoyed the main courses which were beautifully presented. We dine out a lot and I only have a couple of constructive criticisms. Firstly we were seated next to a large party of people enjoying...

We were at the end of a day in Easter Ross attending a funeral. A meal before heading back to Moray was required. The Royal has changed hands since our last visit, so we decided to pay the hotel visit. Little has changed. Still a very pleasant dining area in the bar with a welcoming coal fire giving a nice...

Stayed overnight on 17th October. Staff were pleasant and helpful although, thin on the ground at times. The hotel urgently needs a makeover. However, dined in the hotel and the meal was excellent. Rooms were fine although hot and cold water taps were both producing hot water! Not great value for money

Went for lunch at this lovely old hotel. The food was really lovely with generous portions and very well presented. It was all freshly prepared and extremely tasty. We have been often for lunch and can highly recommend it. The service was excellent and Leanne was our waitress who was really pleasant and attentive. Great place to go to eat.

Stayed overnight on a business trip to the far north of Scotland and stayed in this hotel. Excellent value and better than it's price suggested; even better when we got upgraded on arrival. The room was decent and the bed (for me anyway) was very comfortable. The cooked breakfast was good, but the whisky selection in the bar was incredible;...

Chirpy, warm welcome, lovely room, got one of the four poster king size beds without knowing, which was a lovely surprise, we'll book that exact room when go back. Had dinner at the hotel twice, both meals were very nice, service was fine as we went very early and it was still quiet. The whisky choice in the bar was...

Ayaz on Reception was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay of 3 nights.Had a meal on two evenings. When my husband reserved a table by the window overlooking the Square for our wedding anniversary meal, we were made a great fuss of. The table was decorated with rose petals and a candleabra. Dessert was specially decorated. All the food...
