It is definitely a good choice in Stornoway. The position is right in front of the pier and the Lews Castle. There's plenty of parking spaces around and you can choose between two restaurants belonging to the hotel if you don't want to go and look for something else. However, rooms would need some refurbishing because they are quite dated....

The hotel is on a great location by the harbour. Our room had a fantastic view of the castle. We dined in the hotel on a couple of nights food was good on both occasions. Breakfasts were very good staff helpful. This is a lovely hotel with an old fashioned charm. We would return really liked the Island maybe return...

Stayed in small refurbished front room overlooking the Marina and Lews Castle. Comfortable bed. Clean room. Unfortunately on day two of our stay there was no hot water in the tap or shower, and the radiator in the room was stone cold. A small reduction was made to the bill because of this. The HS-1 cafe bar on the ground...

Stayed here for three nights working in town centre, a 5 minute walk away. Second time I've stayed here and was given room 23 which is on top floor with superb view of harbour and castle opposite. Room is comfortable with ensuite shower/toilet and good bed, everything required for a good stay. Boatshed restaurant has very good food but booking...

Beautifully situated by the harbour and opposite Lews Castle, this is not a luxury hotel but it's a very good one. It's in the road but there is little traffic and I slept well in a big bed with fresh linen. The wifi worked well, which I had not expected on the Outer Hebrides. All the staff were really friendly...

I stayed here for one night on business and when there booked for a further two nights the following week. My first stay was great, the newly refurbished room was bright and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very tasty, the monkfish and scallop dish was delicious. The service was friendly, efficient and welcoming. Breakfast was lovely and exactly...

The common parts of this hotel are beautiful, modern and freshly decorated. The breakfast was delicious. The staff are friendly. All this is let down by the scruffy tatty and old fashioned bedrooms. The bedrooms are badly in need of a refurbishment. Pretty disgraceful and not cheap either.

My son had the opportunity for emergency telecom repairs over Mew Year,so I came up with him (just so father and son could catch up in the evenings.! One such catch up was here at The Royal where the steaks were to die for and as We travel from Lancashire the Black Pudding in filo pastry was gorgeous. Washed down...
