My husband and I have visited the Western Isles hotel both as residents and non-residents many many times over the years, sometimes as a couple and sometimes with family. We love the atmosphere, location, and warm highland welcome we get each time we’re here. The staff are very attentive, helpful and friendly and we regularly enjoy drinks in the lounge, which is just a place beyond relaxing to look at the view, read a book or have a chat over a bottle of wine. This year we had dinner booked for Hogmanay in the restaurant; our whole meal was delicious and the menu varied and served with good cheer. The hotel has a traditional, grand feel, yet modern facilities and service. We visit Mull 3-4 times a year and this hotel is one of the highlights of the visit for us. We will return soon!!…
Lots of positives about this hotel - mainly the staff (Gemma was excellent) and the food (many thanks to the chef for accommodating my husband's specific dietary requirements!). Covid measures were excellent. The views from the restaurant and our bedroom were spectacular. The fire in the lobby was very welcoming. We found the lounge a bit cold to sit in (a fire in here would be good!) Fortunately, we had a lovely sitting area in our bedroom (Glenlivet). Great value with a special Winter rate. We'd definitely return.
What a hotel! I went off season (late November into early December), which meant a frequently empty lounge to laze about in and indulge in whisky and books. The roaring fire in the lobby was a joy after trudging around in the damp peat bogs of the area. The restaurant served generally very good food (highlights included the lamb). The room rate was incredibly reasonable. The hotel has a kind and welcoming approach to dogs. The staff are, for the most part, well trained. And the views are superb. Absolutely one to recommend!
I had originally booked a budget room without a harbour view and upon arrival was advised we were given a harbour view at no additional cost. The view from the room was amazing. We went down to the bar for a few drinks before dinner which was kindly opened early to give us a few drinks, the views from the bar/restaurant were again amazing. The food was absolutely delicious and we had a great time. The staff could not do enough for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The good bits: Huge room with spectacular views. Lovely, friendly lady on reception & serving. Great shower & bath. Large really comfortable bed. Not so good: hairdryer wasn’t fit for purpose. Rooms had mould on the ceilings. The manager blew out the candles on the bar & tables at 8.30pm when there were still 4 tables eating. Found that quite rude as though we were being rushed. No food available during the day as they were short staffed.
