Travellers' Choice
Nestled on the banks of Loch Awe within its own sheltered bay. Taychreggan Hotel is over 300 year old and a former Drovers Inn, has now been gracefully updated over the last 2 years to offer the perfect retreat. Enjoy award winning food, our new two AA rosette restaurant FAODAIL is just that (a lucky find) menus showcase the finest and freshest of local and seasonal produce with spectacular views down Loch Awe the food is every bit as good as the view! It should be noted that new management took over the running of Taychreggan in November of 2019 and although responses to reviews prior to this show as the current manager this is in fact just the way that Tripadvisor manage the listing. If you want a good place to unwind then this is the place. We had a two night stay here which was fantastic, food, setting, and staff. The hotel is set in a stunning location on the banks of Loch Awe just a short drive to Oban. George and his staff do a great job of looking after their guests. The food is delicious, the drinks plentiful with a nice atmosphere. The hallway has candles at night which is very welcoming. A gem of a find which we will definitely be visiting again. Thanks George and staff can’t wait to be back. John and Eleanor

What a stunning location on the banks of Loch Awe and we loved our stay at the Taychreggan Hotel. The hotel has real character, with so many rooms off the bar to relax in. We had our evening meal in the Faodail restaurant on the first night and Ghillies Bar on the second night of our stay. The food was delicious and our compliments to the chef. The breakfast was excellent too with a choice of cereals, pastries and something hot from an extensive menu. We were fortunate to have a window seat looking out over the water & hills at breakfast, just as our room had the same view. Inspiring. Our room was spacious, the furniture fitted in with the character of the hotel, the shower was fast and hot. The bar had seasonal drinks including mulled wine and Christmas champagne cocktails which was a nice touch. The staff were really friendly and went out their way to do anything they could to help us. We really appreciated their help with sorting a problem we had with tyre pressure, with the closest garage miles away. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, it was ideal for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. We could also imagine in the summer months it would be brilliant to spend time in the grounds, sitting around the firepits, looking out over the water at sunset. Thank you and best wishes to all at Taychreggan.

Did not want to leave. First visit but definitely not the last. We had a junior suite, the bathroom had a heated floor and a roll top bath, room was huge and a wash basin each! Bed was so comfy. View over the Loch was superb. Food is amazing, a special mention for the chef who did it all by himself. Thank you so much to Sandy and the rest of the staff, they did you proud Michelle.

Words cannot truly describe the hotel and our stay; absolutely wonderful place with fantastic views of Loch Awe. The staff were the best we have come across on our many travels. Michelle has a wonderful team who work so well together and provide a superb service. Special mention to Jomira, Lisa, Cara and Alastair who looked after us so well. In fact all the staff were superb. The food was amazing in both the restaurant and bar. Breakfast was one of the best we have had.... wonderful. If you are looking to relax and get away from the humdrum this is the place for you. The views are sensational; we could have stayed there forever. Hope to visit next year during the summer and enjoy many drinks by the fire pits overlooking the loch. Thanks to everyone for making our stay one of the very best.
