Perfect place. This is my third visit to the Claymore Hotel & we will be rebooking for a 2022 stay next year. Previous trips had been booked through National Holidays. This time we booked 3 nights dinner, bed & breakfast with Caledonian Travel. We had a loch side view twin room with a shower. Complimentary soaps & shower gel in the room. The room was immaculate & recently decorated. The beds were extremely comfortable. The rooms are toasty warm. We were never cold. There was tea & coffee making facilities in the room & if you need more you can collect refills from reception. You can request clean towels & toilet rolls from reception. All the staff are superb and a real credit to the hotel. They are friendly, helpful & hardworking. They always have a smile. Evening meal is 3 courses. For main course we can highly recommend the pork loin, the Turkey dinner & beef & Yorkshire pudding. The evening meal was delicious & is served to you at the table. There is a selection of meals to choose from 4 starters, 4 mains & 4 desserts this includes a vegetarian option. The waiting staff are very friendly, efficient & attentive. Breakfast is a great selection of fruit, cereal, porridge, toast & traditional cooked breakfast with beans, tomato, eggs - scrambled, fried, poached (on request). Bacon & Sausages. On different days there is one of the following hash browns, potato cakes & black pudding. Tea, coffee, water & juices included. Breakfast is served from 7:30am. With the Caledonian Travel package there are 4 free drinks each evening with an excellent choice of tea, coffee, soft drinks, wine, beer & spirits. (Details on the reverse of your drink ticket which you receive on check in) Entertainment. Brilliant. A Friday night a comedian (very funny) who also sings & takes requests. Saturday an excellent accordion player who does a variety of traditional folk & modern pop on the accordion & sings. Sunday a very talented singer who does a selection of 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s & now. The entertainment lounge opens at 8:30pm for the 8:45pm start & ends around 10:30pm. Well worth going along to see. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment. There is a dance floor for dancing. Try to get a seat near to a radiator it is cool in the entertainment lounge (it is the same place as the restaurant). The bar area is lovely with a roaring fire & wood panelling. A second area to sit has a pool table. Trips. On route we went to Moffat Mill & arrived at the hotel for around 4pm. Saturday our trip to Inveraray & Oban was cancelled (road closures) our brilliant driver Ian quickly rerouted trip to Loch Lomond Shores (nice shopping venue), Aberfoyle & Stirling. On Sunday we visited Glasgow for almost 4 hours. On the way home we left at 9:15am there is a stop for an hour at Gretna Green. The coach returns to the North East between 2:30pm (Gateshead) & 4:30pm (Teesside). depending on your departure point.

Just got back from a fantastic 2 night break at this brilliant hotel. Excellent from start to finish.booked through my hotel break which included 2 nights bed and breakfast and dinner on first night.also upgraded to a loch view room which was well worth it. For what we paid it was great value for money. Previous reviews said that rooms were dated but we were very happy with ours (room 6). Bed was very comfy. Extra pillows if needed and a nice big tartan rug if it got cold. 3 course evening meal was really good and offered a free glass of wine as we went in to the dining room which was a nice touch. Restaurant staff were all very friendly. Breakfast was excellent as well. An added bonus was the nightly entertainment. On 2nd night we went along to the village inn pub just a 10 minute walk to the left of the hotel. Very cosy little place with nice food. Give this hotel a try. U wont be disappointed.

Just returned from 3 night's at The claymore, went with Caledonian coach trip, over all very enjoyable,, minus point's,, Room's tired, bathroom need's massive updating,, no shower so no mean feat getting in and out of the bath for the older generation,, me included,, but plenty of hot water, the bar areas have been updated but The piano bar was very cold, everyone crammed into the other lounge that had a log burner, same as the dining room which was also the entertainment room, very cold,, people sat with coat's on,, food was great,, couldn't fault it,, good buffet breakfast, and lovely three course evening meal,, great comedian on on our first night,, absolutely brilliant,, the next two night's entertainment were ok but spoilt on the first night,, this hotel could be top class given it's beautiful location overlooking loch long if it was given an overhaul,, but dont be put off,, you get what you pay for and we did enjoy our stay,,

Both my wife & I arrived on Monday15Nov21 & from the very beginning we felt so welcome, thank you Charlie room 205. Our experiences got even better when we went for our evening meal to be met & greeted by the Restraunt Manager Willie who explained the meal arrangments and informed us our table was allocated for our weeks stay. Willies restraunt team were all outstanding in all aspects of service & their attitude was outstanding a true team,The quality of food was of the best of taste & standard. Thanks to the Chefs. Our personnal thanks must go to Fi who always went out of her way to ensure her guests were catered for and this was not only during the actual meal but also after meal times, she would always stop and say hello when her guests were enjoying their leisure time in the bar. We must say a BIG THANK YOU to everyone at The Claymore Hotel for a fantastic weeks holiday. OUTSTANDING. Ken & Marie. Room 205 Table 10.
