This hotel was amazing, a secluded picturesque hideaway offering peace and tranquility. It was very easy to take after a long drive. Positioned overlooking Lake Menteith, and recently renovated. It offered comfortable accommodation with a spacious dining and bar area overlooking the lake as well. The restaurant did not disappoint, it also was perfect. My husband had the lamb and...

Our beautiful room had a gorgeous view of the lake and early morning the fishermen in boats started out right outside our room and we were able to watch them catch fish without getting out of bed. Our dinner in the hotel was very romantic though the service was not great.

Thank you for choosing to visit our hotel and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. The hamlet of Port of Menteith is very special and little known. Our team will be keen to review your service reservations as this is usually a strength of our Hotel. We look forward to welcoming you back and meantime, our best wishes....

What a lovely hotel! Beautifully decorated rooms - so pretty. New England feel to the whole hotel. Complimentary homemade scones and coffee in lounge area in afternoons was such a lovely touch. The food was fresh, tasty and very high quality. Breakfast in the conservatory while it rained heavily outside was so romantic! We sat in the lounge area after...

Thank you for your kind words and generous comments. Our staff read these too and will be so pleased you enjoyed your experience. We looked to create something that had a New England feel to it that sat comfortably in this great setting, rather than dominated it. Glad you felt that and we look forward to welcoming you back. Tucked away by Lake Menteith is this gem of a hotel. With stunning views across the lake is there any better way to enjoy a sumptuous cooked breakfast. It seemed to be a little way out in the country as we usually like to shop around for good food pubs and hotels. In fact we stayed for evening meal for...

Dear Eric, Many thanks for your most kind words following your visit to our hotel. So pleased you enjoyed your experience and yes, we do have a very strong team in the kitchen this year. We do take our food seriously but without making it pretentious or expensive and of course what a great backdrop for it too. Our thanks...

The hotel is located next to the lake at Menteith and you can sit in the restuarant and watch the ducks, swans and grebes on the lake and also watch the boats on the lake with fishermen. The room was at the back of the hotel andit had a king sized double bed. It was very quiet and you could...

Thank you for sharing your experience with fellow travellers and delighted you enjoyed your experience. Our goal at The Lake was always to create something that complimented rather than dominated its unique setting and we are pleased that is your sense. We look forward to welcoming you back and meantime, best wishes. Jamie and Ian

Just back from our second visit which was equally as good as our first. Staff really attentive from Jean on reception to the restaurant and bar staff. The food once again was excellent. We were in Room 3 this time and the room was lovely with a re-furbished bathroom. The only slight negative with this room was that we could...

We really appreciate your return visit and delighted it lived up to expectation. We are so fortunate to have some really great staff. We continue to look at ways to enhance our customers experience and are refurbishing our lounge this year. Thank you for letting us know about hearing reception from the room, we will look into that. Many thanks...

Lovely location with good food and great service from the staff. We stayed in room no.5 which was priced at £120 for one night, bed and breakfast. The room was tiny, approximately 18 square metres, the ensuite was small and the shower was basically in a cupboard which meant you stepped out of the shower straight into the room, leaving...

Many thanks for your review following your visit to our hotel, pleased you enjoyed it overall but disapointed you felt you negatives would put you off returning. Room 5 is indeed our smallest room at 22 square meters and it is quirky but has a great view of the kirk and countryside, newly refurbished, it was the last room left...

We stayed here for one night when attending a function at the hotel. Everything was lovely starting with a lovely welcome from the lady at reception. It was lovely sitting in the bar looking out over the lake although it was a bit breezy to venture out. We had a brilliant meal in the lovely restaurant - I don't normally...

Not easy to know where to start to provide this hotel and staff justice - we arrived from Norway on a thursday, well after polite check-in hours, still the hotel kept the bar open and provided delicious sandwiches. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In The Trossachs National Park yet easily accessible, being an hour from Glasgow and Edinburgh and twenty minutes from both Loch Lomond and the ancient City of Stirling. You drive through some remarkable Scottish scenery and upon reaching Port of Menteith, the Lake unfolds before you with the hotel nestling lakeside. Inside you will find a delightful house, much enlarged from the original 19th Century Manse, fully refurbished in recent years. Our inspiration has been the unique Lakeside setting and natural habitat for seasonal and permanent residents such as Osprey, Otter, Geese, Swans our duck family and more. Decorated in the warm and welcoming style of a classic New England waterfront hotel with muted tones and the extensive use of local timber and stone, perfectly complimenting this special waterfront setting. ... more   less
