Booking the WHW only 4 days before we were to set off we were advised that in Tyndrum the only accommodation that was left had shared facilities. Again as some have mentioned we also got a cold welcome from Angela on arriving after the suggested time of 4pm. We too had to wait at the back door and remove our...

The Dalkell Cottage Guest house was a decent place to stay on the West Highland Way. The main problem for us was the somewhat compact size of the room and the tiny ensuite. As this was the most expensive B&B type facility we stayed in on the Way, we had expected better sized accommodation for this price. Also, the old...

We arrived soaking wet and unfortunately were kept waiting at back door for the host to bring us through to lounge area. Also I really feel it was unnecessary to be asked to complete breakfast request and payment before even 'allowed' to take off wet jackets. We were so wet we were dripping on the floor! Nonetheless slept well in...

Dalkell Cottage was a comfortable place to stay for a night on the West Highland Way. The double room was small but adequate, and the bed was comfortable. There was a nice selection of teas and biscuits in the room. The breakfast menu provided lots of well-prepared options, including the Full Scottish and vegetarian choices. Best of all, they brewed...

This B & B was prebooked by the travel company we are using. I had read the reviews and wondered what to expect. True enough the room wasn't big and we did have the en suite in the wardrobe, it just made us giggle! All in all, the place is a bit tired looking but the bed was comfy, shower...

To be honest for the money paid the accommodation is simply over priced in comparison to other places I have stayed in. There is something to say about having to pay up front first and then be shown a tidy room. I was very disappointed after expecting to have a nice Hot Bath to find the water only luke warm!...

Well, I am one of "Gordon's Pals" from the review by Sandy W. We all had a brilliant time during our one night stay at Dalkell Cottage. Chris and Angela were very welcoming again and sought to make our short stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. All the cyclists had a great nights sleep with plenty of peace and...

A group of friends have an annual cycle from Glasgow to Oban to raise money for charity. We have been doing this for 9 years and each year we have an overnight at Dalkell Cottages. In all that time we have never had a complaint about our choice of b&b. This year 13 of us were accommodated by Chris and...

My Wife an I stayed here after our 4th day on the WHW. We had a warm welcome by our host Chris and we were brought to our room after leaving our boots and wet stuff in the drying facilities. The room was a bit small and so was the bathroom, but everything was clean and the bed was very...

This was our overnight stop on day 4 of walking the West Highland Way. The rooms were rather compact, with the en-suite facilities even more so being in the 'cupboard'. Breakfast was pretty good and our hosts rather quirky, but pleasant. Overall OK but certainly nothing special.
