Stayed with a group for walking holidays organised by Wilderness Scotland and enjoyed it thoroughly. The perfect place for a refreshingly inspiring time off. Great walks and stunning scenery, excellent food, very friendly people, and icing on the cake : blessed with sunny weather.

We went walking in Knoydart staying as a party of six at Doune for a week .The weather was too poor to take the boat Gripper over to the islands but there are plenty of great walks on Knoydart itself. Our accommodation in one of the twin rooms was great in every way . The food was first class with...

We walked from Inverie to Doune for an evening seafood meal. It was blowy but the rain stayed off and the views were spectacular, particularly as we neared our destination. We got there a bit early and were welcomed and offered a drink, so we sat looking out at the lovely view until the rest of the diners arrived. The...

Had a very good meal. No choice set menu. 3 courses were £35 and included coffee. Hosts very friendly. Superb location. We came via the "road" above the restaurant. It is about a 15 min walk down- longer going up! Torches are a must at night plus midge nets. Path easy to follow.

Returned home today from another excellent stay at Doune. Arrived in Mallaig to be collected at the harbour by Martin in Gripper 11. After a smooth 30 minute crossing with some 'dolphin watching', we arrived at this special haven to be warmly greeted by Jane. Luggage can be brought to your accommodation if need be. Accommodation is basic, very clean,...

Juts home from a 3-day trip to Doune. The service was fantastic in every way as was Liz's cooking. Martin and Jane made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble ~ all very relaxed and chilled. Plenty to do and see if you like the countryside, photography and hillwalking. Although basic, the accommodation is very comfortable.

I cannot express how lovely our experience was when we visited the Doune for dinner on the 7th August. The place has a very relaxed feel to it and the staff are excellent, very chatty and seem very chilled :) They have a very friendly approach with nothing too much trouble for them. The food was absolutely delicious and not...

This was my ninth week at Doune in ten years. One year we were too late in booking, you must book at least one year in advance. The standards of food, service and accommodation have remained consistently high over the years. Twelve of us stay in the Bay Lodge, eat in the restaurant, and have Andy take us by the...

Totally and utterly wonderful. Amazing food, cheap (and quality) drinks, super (basic, but perfect) accommodation, incredible views, wonderful people in this small holiday/living community. We island-hopped and learned so much. From puck-up in Mallaig to the end, we were enchanted. I could write for pages and will be back! Thank you all for showing what life can be!
