The Pilgrim was a great place to stay in Memphis. In the heart of Cooper Street, a nice neighborhood where you can find pretty much anything, and goes on living until late at night for party lovers - the bars were great. I also recommend the book shop, it's worth the visit ! The hostel had nice accommodation, Very friendly...

I stayed at the Pilgrim House as I was unable to find another hostel in Memphis, which I booked through Hostel World. On the Hostel World website it states there are no check-in's after 23.00. As my train was not arriving into Memphis until 22.00 I contacted the hostel directly to ask what would happen if I was running late....

This was the first hostel I've ever stayed in and it was enjoyable. It was very informal and relaxed. You have a chore to do, but it keeps the cost down, so I'm willing to spend 5 minutes doing it. It was clean and quiet. The beds aren't very comfy, but I'm young and it doesn't matter to me. It's...

This hostel is cheap, has a clean kitchen, and a spirit of community -they assign you chores, but don't feel forced to do them. Right by it, there is the delicious Java Cabana Coffee -try the mocha! And while it is not downtown, it is in the neighborhood of bakeries and record stores.

When you stay here you LITERALLY help feed people. This hostel is associated with the nearby church, and uses basically all of YOUR money to feed the less fortunate. So if you have a soul at all, you will stay here ;) It's also a cool hostel. As a self-proclaimed hostel expert (stayed in about 50 and worked in 3)...

Probably the strangest place I've been in my life. Firstly it's really difficult to get into the building, a stranger let us in as he was leaving. Then we were told we could pay by cash or card. When we said cash the guy said they prefer card. Why ask? Then we got the tour. A definite highlight was being...

I stayed at this hostel for 3 nights. When I booked I didn't realize it was associated with the church and in the church grounds. The hostel itself was very spacious with lots of common area and the rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The staff were very friendly and you could make pancakes for free for breakfast. You had...

It isn't clinical and perfect, but a good hostel had charm and character like this. You are expected to do a chore each day, but they tell you this on their website and on arrival. The staff are helpful and friendly. It's clean and has a good library. It is also located in midtown Memphis, which is supposed to be...

I stayed here for 3 nights and didn't have a problem. The staff were very friendly and helpful and I loved the fact you had to do a small chore each day. There was free wifi and breakfast and the place was pretty secure. It's a bit run down, but who cares if all you want is a cheap bed...

Just returned home from spending 6 great days in Memphis, at the Pilgrim House Hostel. This was my first experience at a Hostel, and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff were so kind and helpful, getting me up to speed with everything, and helping me with anything I needed. The facility was always safe and each public and private room...
