You drive down ever narrowing roads , wondering where your satellite navigation system is sending you and then you suddenly converge on a wonderful village with this beautiful hostelry. Totally refreshing, The West Arms hotel is about history, amazing setting, great food, quaint rooms ... individualistic. The floor boards creek, the doors have old fashion keys to lock them, the...

This was our second visit to this lovely hotel. The location is beautiful, yes it is a little hard to find but that adds to its charm. The staff were great, friendly and professional, the rooms spacious, clean and comfy. But what takes this to another level is the food, which is just wonderful and can be enjoyed in the...

Would never have visited this 16th Century Hotel without seeing it on Travelzoo. Bear in mind you need your satnav to find it and there's no mobile signal for miles! When we eventually came across it we were surprised to find 2 hotels across the road from each other in a small village - idyllic, so quaint. We arrived early...

Have had glorious eating experiences in this beautiful hotel in the past, and was disappointed to find an unimaginative and over-priced lunch menu, a depleted wine list and, at £16, indifferent gammon, soggy chips and very tired frozen peas. We wondered whether the place had changed hands. Had dinner in the evening over the road in The Hand, and what...

We are sorry you had a disappointing experience at The West Arms - fortunately as you can see, we usually receive very positive reviews - so your comments come as something of a shock. We still have the same great Welsh Celebrity Chef, (the amazing Grant Williams) and luckily employ fabulous caring front of house staff, plus the hotel has...

Well, what a find in the heart of the Welsh countryside. This hotel is old fashioned and quirky, but don't let that put you off at all. Ed was an excellent host, and gave us a warm welcome. The food was very good indeed, as well as the local beer. We stayed via a Travelzoo deal for one night, and...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The West Arms is a traditional Olde Inn (16th Century) with beams and uneven slate flagged floors, roaring open fires and low ceilings. It offers an abundance of warmth and charm with quirky individuality. No bedrooms are the same. We are a privately owned business with a wealth of experience, offer a friendly informal welcome. We have 15 bedrooms, a superb Chef who has a great pedigree, lovely friendly staff and are situated in a beautiful location. If you want a bland boutique modern hotel with a lack of soul, The West Arms is not the place for you! ... more   less
