This was a special birthday treat for my husband. Our third visit for afternoon tea. As with the other visits, everything was lovely. The setting is beautiful overlooking the Menai Straits. We were told they were short staffed but the gentleman who looked after us saw to all our needs, extra tea arrived promptly and a generous doggie bag with everything wrapped in cling film when we left. As it’s our third visit it’s obvious we love it.
Stayed for 3 nights with family members. We each had sea view room. All rooms stunning. I had room 201 which is large with king bed and stunning views. Huge modern bathroom with bath and walk in shower. Spotlessly clean and very comfy. Was bit jealous as my son had Victoria suite which is smaller but lovely bay windows and queen Victoria had slept there when she was young. The hotel has kept its original charm while having modern fixtures where needed. There is a lift but worth using stairs as well and exploring as lovely quaint areas with antique furniture. The coffee room gets really busy from midday but worth using as cakes are heavenly! The restaurant really good. Food fresh, tasty and hot. Could do with more vegetarian options and vegan choices on menu but ask and they give you few choices. The meditarian veg Wellington is very good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Will be back!…
Second time staying and I think Beaumaris has a special place in my heart now as does The Bulkeley. Nothing is ever a problem staying here the staff will go out of their way to help.Been here 3 days and wished it was longer. Wasn't feeling my best on the last day however wasn't a problem and room service given. Front of house, waiters and waitresses all phenomenal, the hotel itself beautiful, yes some areas could do with a touch up but given the age of the building it's to be expected in my opinion, there certainly wasn't anything that would put a person off staying. Good deals staying here I'd recommend booking direct as they have specials it seems a fair bit out of season, their Facebook page is a good place to look. The only negative I can pick up on is the menu could do with a vegan option and an extra vegetarian option or two. That said there was 2 vegan options not on the menu ( the vegan chilli was amazing ) but if you're staying here longer than a couple of days you'd want a little more choice, something I think they're looking into for the future, certainly not something that would put me off staying again. I get this is out of season so a menu would be a little restricted. The food that is on offer is very very good, and the best I've had on Anglesey, the chefs certainly know their produce. All in all if you're looking for a place full of charm , with great staff and a great base to see Angelsey, The Bulkeley should be the number 1 port of call.…
Had a lovely two night stay for my birthday. The Deluxe Room was worth the extra for the view. The staff were so lovely, the food was excellent and the room was comfortable and the ambience was excellent. We will definitely be going back.
What a shame the service lets this lunch venue down. Refreshments are of excellent quality. However it seems the hotel does not want to encourage walk-ins with it’s cool reception and reserving seating for residents only. Reading reviews here it would appear that waiting staff reserve their pleasantries for residents only.
Early January short break which was very good value. The hotel is a stunning historical building elegant in style and full of character. Our room was large and well equipped and spotless and comfortable. There was plenty of parking. The breakfast was delicious with a wide ranging choice. Staff are very pleasant and helpful. It's situated in the middle of Beaumaris so provided us with a good base for coastal walks. Will certainly book again.
Lovely old building with welcoming entrance of curios and gifts leading to an opulent looking lounge/coffee shop. Reminiscent of days gone by. Probably looked not too dissimilar 50 years ago. Furniture is chesterfield sofas and chairs and highly polished low coffee tables. (NB not the best seating arrangement for eating soup). Tables have signs which say they are reserved for hotel residents and to check in with coffee shop host to be assigned one. Today our experience of the host was so bad it became comical. Her customer service skills were diametrically opposite to my expectations of a lady given the responsibility of front of house. Her demeanour and attitude were more like those of a prison officer. The way we were spoken to evoked a conspiratorial smile from another customer, who later came over to comment that she had had a similar reception. The food was good and met my expectations. Not sure I will go back though, purely on the principle that front of house should in my opinion be courteous.…
What a wonderful waitress I had serving my family. Holly was welcoming and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was very busy but still ensured she had time to talk to us. There was a good choice of food on the menu. Our meals were very tasty indeed. Highly recommended. Merry Christmas!
We booked the cosy double it was a bit tight for space around the bed, but the bed was a good size double, and the room had everything we needed. The bathroom was a good size, and it was the cleanest I have ever seen it sparkled it was that clean. We booked dinner, bed and breakfast and the food was delicious a full Welsh breakfast and a good selection for dinner we had duck breasts the first night which were cooked to perfection and presented beautifully, the second night was belly pork and surf and turf again cooked well and the presentation was lovely. The waiting on staff were excellent and offered good old-fashioned service, the table was laid out really nice which you don't. see very often. The hotel is old and retains really lovely features it is very quirky with creaking floors, and windows but this all adds to the faded grandeur. The residents lounge has stunning views over the Menai straits and north Wales. It is not a sterile, cold modern featureless hotel. Please don't modernise this hotel it is lovely to find a hotel like this. We thought it was really good value and the food was excellent..…
Stayed here on a yoga trip for the second time, the first was about 4 years ago. Nothing has changed in that time. Fantastic location and good parking. Very tired interior and not the friendliest welcome to be honest. We were asked to choose our menu on the spot and I mentioned that I had vegan meal pre ordered. Unfortunately I got a dirty look and was made to feel uncomfortable. Bedroom roomy, comfortable and clean. Shower was disappointing, more like a trickle. The ballroom (yoga room) could have done with a clean. And hadn’t been emptied. There were several cracks / holes in the windows which need sorting. There was work being undertaken which is obviously unavoidable but there was a very strong chemical smell. Which included the bar area. Pianist was extremely good and service great. Lovely staff. The vegan food was quite good and breakfast excellent. Check out was great and friendly.. very different from arrival. Hotel just needs a makeover to enhance what is a beautiful place.…
