Hotel is okay for the price, beds were very uncomfortable and springy, there’s also a door in the room what goes through to next door which is weird and you can hear everything from the neighbouring rooms, walls are like paper. Won’t be returning anytime soon

Where to start, the property does not look like online pictures. Worst part was no heating and when we complained we got given a desk heater that made so much noise we couldn’t use it. Duvet was not thick enough to keep us warm worst night of our lives. States free parking but only has 5/6 spaces outside on a hill. Entrance needs modernising. Our actual room was spacious, pillows weren’t great so requested more. Furniture is all ikea and not built great. Mattress was horrible but we didn’t sleep at all anyway. Walls are paper thin and you can easily process the room next doors conversation.

Me and my wife stayed here for one night recently and it did the job. We were going to a gig in Cardiff so this was ideal for us as it was only a 5min walk from Barry train station and avoided the expensive costs of staying in Cardiff. It was only just over 20mins from Cardiff Central. The hotel itself looked a little worn on the outside, but the entrance and bar area are really nice and modern looking. The lad on reception when we arrived (Jacob I think) was really nice and welcoming and gave us all the info we needed. We were a little early so he served us some drinks in the bar (£7.60 for a pint of Staropramen and Guinness!!!!. Amazing) before coming to let us know that we could get into our room before the 3pm check in. The hotel is surprisingly big but luckily there's a couple of ways upstairs so no room is really too far from the entrance. I'm not going to lie, we were a little disappointed by the room. We fully expected it to be basic for £49 a night, but there was a wet towel on the back of the bathroom door from the previous customer and chippings of paint off the skirting in the bathroom which makes you wonder how thoroughly it was actually cleaned. It didn't particularly bother us but not great really. The curtains in the room were practically see through too and didn't fill the width of the window so you did feel a bit exposed, especially with the church directly opposite. Our windows wouldn't fully shut either but luckily the heating wasn't an issue and we'd had enough to drink to not allow any outside noise to keep us up. Our room was probably the most basic one though and still everything we needed. I probably couldn't have slept on that mattress for too many nights, but again, you get what you pay for. The shower was amazing though! You can get breakfast in the hotel if you inform them the day before. It was on continental during our stay, but if you want a hot one there is a wetherspoons a couple of minutes away. Check out was at 11am. There is parking outside the hotel, but only about 5 or 6 spaces. The bar in the hotel was open till 1am on the Friday that we stayed.

We was a little worried after booking this hotel, after reading the reviews! Please don't be put off by some of the negative reviews. We found this place to be just what we wanted, fantastic location for all that Barry has to offer, friendly staff and above all clean ... Could the place do with a little updating? Sure ! But for the price and location its great value. Thankyou for a Wonderfull Stay...

The reception staff were very friendly, polite and helpful at all times. The room matched the highly competitive price and was perfect for a short break. My adult son and I were especially pleased to find a twin room available for us. Most chain hotels no longer offer this, meaning guests are obliged to rent two separate double rooms which is too expensive.

From the outside the hotel looks very presentable, the receptionist was polite and helpful and the room was clean and tidy. HOWEVER, the bed is the most uncomfortable mattress I have ever slept on, there are only 2 deflated pillows, 1 single sheet and no mattress protector. The toilet is pushed very close to the wall and luckily the towel radiator was turned off otherwise I’d have had a burnt leg. The bathroom floor is unpleasant, and in general the room is tired and needs refurbishment If you are happy with literally a bed in the room here is the place to go but the booking.com reviews are FAR different from the Tripadvisor reviews

Currently staying at the mount rooms, rooms are clean although no coffee facilities in the room, these have to be purchased from there cafe at £2:50 a cup. To add insult to injury card only no cash accepted in bar or cafe. Staffs response to I only have cash is I'll cancel your order then. Not impressed and wouldn't stop again.

We did not book this room friends who we travelled with did , was amazed the next day when I did look at the establishment on trip advisor and booking .com they bear no resemblance to the tip we stayed in so can’t fault our friends , the reception was dire but the gentleman did give us door cards and directions to our rooms .. used keycard to open the door that’s when it really struck us what a mistake our friends had make The room smelled awful a shrivelled up air freshener on top of the most flimsy white wardrobe had long given up all hope of making a difference ,very loud noise from communal room below…. the bathroom was grimy worst of all we could not lock the room door the receiver in the door frame was not the correct type it’s was also loose with totally wrong screw sizes . Didn’t see any other part of this establishment but you don’t really need to once you enter the building you will see that it’s nothing like the photographs and trip advisor should review how they project this as at the moment it case for trading standards

Room was clean and staff helpful but spend their time dealing with complaints. Bed uncomfortable; continental breakfast of poor quality especially for £8 (no full breakfast option); advertised as Bistro on site but all that is offered is cheap food served in take away cartons to take to your room. Windows need updating, they rattle well.
