Family Sunday lunch for birthday party of 13 ,on arrival told it was a 1 hour wait for food which was a little disappointing as party had pre-booked ,more disappointing was that it was 1.5 hours before we were served starters ,children amongst our party were starving .Main course came 35 minutes later .Asked 3 times for jug of water to go with drinks .Food was ok when it came ,but the wait really spoilt the day .If management respond ? yes it was busy ,but you knew the party number had been booked well in advance ,so we should have taken preference over walk ins ,& we did turn up on time .Plus no apology ,very sorry Three Horse Shoes wont be back ,plenty of other places in area to go too.
What a find! Lovely room, superb food both in the evening and breakfast, friendly helpful staff and close to both city centre and rural areas, we came away after two nights feeling totally recharged, thank you
We arrived home yesterday after a 2 night stay here. My partner booked it as a surprise break for my 40th as he had got us tickets for the Gavin & Stacey tour. He did a lot of research before he booked as this was his first time planning anything like this. We had a drink on arrival due to the long journey. The setting of the pub was very rustic we were surprised how busy it was. We then checked in to our room. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfy. Also had a Tv on the wall and hairdryer to use. Tea & Coffee also available. The shower was amazing and missing it now we are home. We decided to eat here on the first night. Took a while to decide what to eat as there was a lot of choice and also they had a specials menu. We chose a couple of starters to share. I then had the beef stroganoff from the specials and my partner went for the Rump steak. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We then opted for Sticky Toffee pudding to share for pudding. Beth brought this over with candles in and a sparkler as she knew we were staying for my 40th. This was a lovely touch. We spent the rest of the evening sat at the bar. Andy & Beth were working and were both really friendly and hard working. We then met Dean (chef) and my partner complimented him on his steak and bought him a drink. He then stayed to have a chat with us. The following morning we were met with Karen who served us breakfast. Again she was a lovely lady and made us feel welcome. The breakfast was very nice. We then headed into Cardiff shopping after tips from staff on were to go etc. When we arrived back late afternoon we had a quick drink at the bar before freshening up for our evening meal. We decided to eat in again due to the meal the night before being so good. Again the food did not disappoint. We checked out the following morning after breakfast. We briefly spoke to the owner Richard who was very easy to talk to and friendly. We will be back again as we enjoyed our break here. You will not be disappointed if you book your stay here.…
I have just stayed at this lovely inn, on my own, arrived late at night. The owners accommodated my late check in and the staff were happy to give me advice about taxi companies and prices which came in handy when station taxi drivers (at Cardiff) tried to hugely over charge me. The rooms are absolutely beautiful, large, modern, look new and clean. Fans, hairdryers, kettle, big beautiful solid wood furniture, everything you need in one room. It was such a shame my family weren’t with me to enjoy it, especially when I saw in daylight the next morning the soft play barn and big park out back. The pub is really a lovely inside, a real country inn, fires, wooden beams, tiled floors. Absolutely loved it. Breakfast was lovely. Owners very friendly, chatty. Only wish I had more time to explore and enjoy a walk around the lovely area. I will return. Thank you…
It's not nice to be away on holiday and feel like you're an inconvenience. Which is what it was like here. Everything was so overpriced and food just wasn't great. Nothing seems to be organised well. The owner and his family are rude. I mean the bed was comfy though and the views were lovely but that's the best I can say.
Shocking from start to finish. Paid £300 for 2 nights for a family room of 1 double and 2 single beds, was given 1 double and 2 (I guess) fold down beds, one child bed broke on the first night. Bar was shut at 9pm which we were not informed about so could not have a drink until breakfast unless you wanted to drink water from the bathroom. service appalling, that is if you can find any of the staff, of which most were miserable and not helpful..Food was cheap and tasteless. Also after paying to stay you then have to pay £5 for each child to use the soft play area...And an awful smell outside which filled the room at times.
My wife and I stayed at the Three Horseshoes for one night prior to a late morning flight out of Cardiff Airport. Perfect location just minutes from the Airport. Room was large, clean and comfortable with all necessary amenities. All staff, and owners, we met were polite and cheerful. Enjoyed a pre-dinner drink in the front garden and then settled down to a tasty, well prepared and presented evening meal. Good and varied choice on the menu. Breakfast was excellent, best bacon I've had. Help yourself to usual cold items, cereals, juice etc. and order hot items as required. So impressed we have booked for a stay prior to our flight out of Cardiff again in August. Thank you Three Horseshoes.
This was my first visit and I have to say it was a lovely stay with great food and happy and helpful staff. The room was nice with a big bathroom and it was nice and quiet through the night due to the country location.
Stayed at the three horseshoes inn on a work trip for one night. The staff were polite and welcoming and were accommodating of the fact I was coming back to my room late. The room was spotless, modern and had everything you need for a short stay. Only slight issue was the bed was two singles pushed together instead of a double but wasn’t too uncomfortable for the night. The lady that served breakfast was lovely, breakfast was delicious and has great choice - No menu so you just order whatever you’d like. Would definitely come here again.
Came for a rugby weekend. Staff very attentive and helpful, organiser cocked up the booling so were allocated 2 doubles which we needed twins. They kindly shuffled bookings around to suit. Food decent especially the breakfasts. Organised us a cost effective taxi into Cardiff . Rooms very good and clean. No keg on sadly so avoid the Nexk Oil at £6.10 a pint and all good. Other than lack of ale absolutely spot on visit. Thanks
