The award winning Hughenden (circa 1870) is a gracious historic hotel at the heart of Woollahra, in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Associated with Australia's first philosopher, The Hughenden experienced many changes from grand residence to Masonic Hall to Ladies College. In 1993, The Hughenden commenced a programme of extensive restoration, redeveloping it into a beautiful boutique hotel. The last refurbishment in 2017 refreshed the hotel whilst preserving its old-world grandeur and character. The historic features such as the marble fireplaces, the original grand staircase, and servant bells are still prevalent today. Visitors are welcome to experience the warmth, charm and personal service offered by our hotel. With 32 Heritage Rooms, Pet Friendly Accommodation, Cafe, Lounge Bar and Event spaces, The Hughenden has unique offerings for all to experience and enjoy.

Sebastian the Moodle and we had a fabulous stay at The Hughenden Hotel. It’s olde world charm reminded us of a London hotel. It was cosy, hospitable and is located in Woollahra which is a fabulous suburb of Sydney close to everything you need or want to experience in the harbour city. Sebastian immediately felt at home. He adored running up and down the stairs, sitting in the bar or relaxing in the café. He particularly loved his own private garden which meant he didn’t have too far to go to ‘spend a penny’. We will definitely stay again on our next road trip. Deb and Sebastian from Melbourne.

Minimal parking so make sure you book a place. We had a 'cosy' room, but it was okay. it also had a balcony, which made it seem bigger. The room was clean and well presented. Good to have a ceiling fan. Staff were friendly, at reception and in the café. The included ($10) breakfast was good, they make a n excellent pot of tea. Very quirky place, opposite Centennial park. Perfectly situated for Allianz Stadium which was a 10 minute walk approx. We were there for the World Rugby 7's. Plenty of buses about if you want to explore.......one bus to Circular Quay.

Looked great in photos but pretty poor in person. Arrived 6pm and nobody on duty. Received email with info on room and key which was fine. There was no elevator and nobody around to help with bags. Had an awful time lugging our large bags from our 3 week trip up the stairs. Bathroom had the tiniest sink I’ve seen. Like prison cell size. And it leaked. Would not stay here again.

This hotel has old world character and charm. The room we were in had high ceilings with a moderate amount of room. The bathroom was very small and narrow. The bed was super comfortable. They have a small cafe at the front of the hotel and the coffee was decent. It is easy walking to the Main Street and across the road are the Paddington gates to Centennial Park.

Room Tip: There is a small car park, but get in early and park rear in otherwise it is tight reversing out.

A beautiful place with an attentive service and clean rooms. The hotel is very well situated in a nice neighborhood near Centennial Park. The local village has good options to get food and drinks. Supermarket, bus station, drug store… all nearby. We can recommend this place very highly

The property was very well located to the function that we attended and for access to very good restaurants for breakfast and dinner. Big Mamas Trattoria was a standout! Ambience of the property was well within what was advertised and our bed was very comfortable. Our check-in was efficient and thorough but lacked any welcoming warmth. The room was well serviced though we found the bathroom floor quite slippery as it was impossible to keep the shower water (from within the bath) off the floor!

Spent a weekend in a king room at the Hughenden and would definitely stay there again. A very handy location in the Eastern Suburbs. Nice old world charm, friendly efficient staff, very clean room and bathroom. comfy bed, fast internet, onsite parking. Breakfast in the cafe was fairly simple but enjoyable and the coffee was very good. Locals seemed to be frequenting the cafe, which is always a good sign. Close to shopping and restaurants and lovely leafy streets to stroll around.

Fantastic location and super friendly team. The staff make you feel welcome and go out of their way to make sure you are happy during your stay. We had a little issue with our bedding configuration (likely our fault). A simple text and we were upgraded to a larger room without fuss and without charge. Completely unexpected. Thank you!!!
