We had a booking for a first lunch sitting. All Covid requirements were observed. Our sitting was timed. The staff handled the whole procedure with a pleasant demeanour and attitude. The main meal course was only attempted as we were meeting friends after many months of no visiting. The meals were good quality, tasty and a good portion ... the presentation showed pride in the dish. We walked to a cafe for a coffee and further hours of catch up
Trying to serve restuarant style meals in a bistro at restuarant prices, meals are a small serving and staff seem to be busy with any thing else but serving you Personally I would look around this area before settleing on this place for a meal we think you can get better value for money elsewhere
We initially went to the Ocean Grove Bowling Club where we had been before several times however a power failure in the area put paid to that and instead we decided to try the Barwon Heads Hotel. I had never been there before and my initial comments were that the placed was tired and dated and looked like a 1970’s fitout. This was confirmed by my wife who had been there a number of times over the years. It was a cold and miserable night and there weren’t many people there. The staff weren’t under any pressure but the service was okay. However the meals were very average and it was a bad case of quantity over quality. I had the mixed grill and apart from the lamb cutlet everything was else average to awful. Added to that there was a pile of chips that were soggy. It was a case of fill the hole and get out of there. They can possibly get away with it in the high season but there is still no reason to dish up meals such as this.…
Great location, view and layout. The food is very hit and miss. Just sent back a Chicken Parma probably the worst I have had in a Pub in Australia. The Asian dishes look OK. The more traditional Aussie meals NO!
Had dinner there one evening. Service was satisfactory, but the meals were second rate . My partners steak was tiny and tough. My meal the Chicken schnitzel appeared look like a seniors meal. They charge full tote odds but that doesn’t reflect the quality for that price. Won’t be returning, shame because it has been better in the past
