The good part is that the hotel is easy to find off the main road through Dunkeld and on the western edge of the town. Almost all of the staff are very friendly and try to be helpful too. The cottage rooms (about $300 per night on a weekend) are about 4km away so you'll need to drive up to...

Dinner in the bar was rubbish and the wine list was way overpriced. We heard the waitress say the first year apprentice chef was running the kitchen! How does this happen on a long weekend? Breakfast was under-whelming. Believe it or not, one type of bread for toasting and it was too small for the toaster. No pepper and salt...

We stayed in a deluxe room which was very nicely appointed. The bed was comfy as and the bathroom beautiful. the Foxtel didn't work unfortunately but we weren't there for the TV. The grounds were lovely to walk around and well maintained. The restaurant experience was really unique. We had the 8 course menu which was full of flavours and...

Let's start with the positives. 1. The rooms were large, clean and we'll equipped. 2. The staff were pleasant and friendly. 3. The food in the so called two hats restaurant was unusual, although a translation of some of the items on the menu was required. 4. The food when it eventually arrived was good but portions were small. My wife...

We had a small, dry chicken parmigiana and a hamburger for $26 each which was overpriced and ordinary. The very ordinary red wine we had ended up being $13 per glass of which we had 4 of. Lesson - ask the price before they serve you a glass. The whole ordinary lunch cost us $104 and definitely won't be back!!!!!!!

We stayed in one of the traditional bluestone cottages, which had stunning views of Mount Sturgeon, with sheep in the field out back, wild kangaroos & a huge variety of birds all around the place! The cottage was quiet & cosy with a wood burning fire, loved the quirky little bathroom in the water tank! Everything you could need had...

We stayed in the motel style rooms here many years ago and I was not impressed, but the cottages on the Mount Sturgeon property a couple of k from the hotel are brilliant . Incredibly simple and tasteful, just two rooms in a freestanding old bluestone cottage with a smart new bathroom in the shape of a water tank. Comfortable...

Stayed for 2 nights at this glorious spot - room large and with generous verandah and seating, comfy bed, and drop dead gorgeous view of Mount Abrupt. Breakfast is included with buffet and hot dishes - great. Tried the french toast - delicious; one day there was sheep milk yoghurt - great. Peaceful, beautiful, lovely walking tracks nearby. Treat yourself...

Forget picking up one of those adult colouring in books sitting on top of the best sellers list lately. Take a nice slow drive out to Dunkheld and treat all your senses at this wonderful foodie getaway. We stayed a night in between travelling from Adelaide to Melbourne and I instantly felt mindful. We enjoyed the striking views of Mt...

This was a bucket list item for my husband. A stay and meal at the Hotel with the wine list voted world's best. Over 2,000 wines to choose from a cellar of over 26,000 bottles in a town at the foot of the Grampians. The food is seasonal and 70 per cent is sourced from their own garden or the...
