Detailed Reviews
Sandalwood Cottage - A very relaxing stay, but there is a downside.
Good points were many. Easy to find; well sign-posted. A gorgeous cottage, just as it appears on the website photos. There was a plentiful supply of firewood; just enough for the three nights we booked. Two powerful heaters, an electric blanket and several blankets for cold nights; especially out on deck. Quiet bush setting but only minutes from wineries and galleries. Outdoor setting on the spacious deck. Beautiful, large bath and bathroom.
We really enjoyed the open fire and the cosy atmosphere in the quiet location that was close to several wineries and galleries.
On the downside, the host is extremely slow when it comes to email responses; even after we sent payment. Even then, we didn’t receive arrival instructions for another four days. Also, the shower ran hot and cold. I could not get a shower that stayed hot the whole time.
It is not a queen bed as advertised; it’s only a double.
They advertise as having Wi-Fi, but it is totally useless. Don’t rely on downloading anything large or quickly when using it.
It is also advertised as a B&B, (and we have stayed at many), and I think it’s fair to say that a loaf of bread, some butter, muesli, milk and juice mainly, does not constitute a B&B. Most proper B&Bs either have a choice of hot or cold breakfast in a dedicated kitchen, or it is brought to your room. At the very least, supplies of bacon & eggs etc are left in the accommodation for the guests. There was none of this.
I find these last four things very misleading; especially considering the price we paid for it.

We had booked Sandalwood online through Booking.com prior to our visit to Australia. The property was advertised as having wifi but at best the wifi was extremely limited and very difficult to obtain for any prolonged period. No mention was made on Booking.com of the difficulties of access to the property which was a real factor for us given that my wife suffers with a hip problem. Parking was by no means straightforward either as the house was fully occupied upon our arrival.
Breakfast was included but this simply consisted of one loaf of bread, provided upon arrival, which was to last for our entire three day stay, some fresh milk, a small amount of jam and marmalade plus some muesli. The property was very damp throughout and no new towels or sheets were provided during our three night stay.
