Fantastic B & B. Cook yourself breakfast of eggs, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, bread for toasting, plus a variety of cereals, milk, orange juice, cocoa, variety of teas. Very friendly hosts. Dropped us off at a nearby winery so we didn't have to drive. Couple of donkeys in the rear paddock to feed. Very clean unit. Coonara heater for a bit of romantic atmosphere.

We stayed at stony creek cottages for 2 nights after our wedding. We had such a warm reception and enjoyed every minute of our stay from start to finish. Very central location and the cottages are equipped with everything we needed. We would highly recommend stony creek cottages!

My husband and I came to Stony Creek Cottages as we had a dinner reservation close by & didn't want to drive home. We it was an easy drive up the peninsula link & easy to find once in Red Hill.
We arrived a little earlier than expected (the drive was shorter than planned) & Louise was putting the finishing touches to our cottage. We stayed in the Monterosso cottage with 1 double room & spacious kitchen/living & dinning area. A continental breakfast was included in the price & Louise even organised a car for our restaurant transfer with a local at a discount through Stony Creek. A great base to explore the region & a lovely welcome. Great little place to hide away would come back!

We recently stayed here for a birthday weekend away for my husband. I'll admit I booked it purely based on location - walking distance (1.5km - 20 mins) from 10 minutes by Tractor, where we had dinner booked on the second night .... but there's much more to these cottages than location!

We arrived and were met by Louise, the chatty and friendly owner, who took us down to our cottage (Kookaburra), and showed us around, and gave us instructions on how to maintain and light the wood burning fire, which was already roaring away, giving a warm glow to the cottage. The cottage consists of a bedroom opening out onto a little patio with chairs to sit in the sun, ensuite with spa bath and overhead shower, kitchenette with microwave, electric frypan, and a two ring portable cooktop, as well as the usual toaster/kettle etc, and an open plan area with dining table, sofa, coffee table, flat screen TV/DVD/video/stereo, and a wood burning fire. French doors also open out from the dining area to an outdoor table, and walking from here round to the bedroom patio, you have two sunloungers. All of this surrounded by beautiful surroundings - open fields, kookaburras laughing, and hardly a sign of another human (although there is a pony and an alpaca), despite being right next door to the other cottage!!

Breakfast is provided on a cook-your-own basis - and we probably could have fed ourselves for a week's breakfasts on the supplies provided! Bread, eggs, mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, a can of beans, muesli, cereal, milk, butter, jam, juice, coffee, tea! For those wishing to self cater further than just breakfast, it would be possible with the creative use of the appliances provided, and the fridge would fit your own provisions as well as the breakfast ones provided. All the cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery you need are provided. As is ample firewood, the best fluffy towels ever, lots of pillows, cotton buds in the bathroom drawer, torches to light your way if you go out at night (it's VERY dark if there's no moon) .... almost everything you could think of.

If you venture out, as well as 10x Tractor, there's the restaurants of Noel's Gallery, La Petanque and Green Olive all within easy walking distance. T'Gallant is 2km away, as is the strawberry farm. More than enough to fill a weekend without needing a car. Louise will check if you have bookings and make the required phone calls if needs be.

Really, we had the most pleasant weekend - helped by sunny days, and cold nights so we could crank up the fire, a comfy bed and good nights' sleep! The only things that would have made this perfect would be fluffy bathrobes and the morning papers delivered ;)

(It's probably worthwhile mentioning, as this seems to important to many people, that there's no wi-fi, but we had 3G enabled devices, and there's a clear signal!)

We stayed one night in the Monterosso cottage and found it very neat and cosy. It is set away from the owners' house and the bedroom opens up directly on a private garden surrounded by hedges. The cottage was stocked with movies, magazines and provisions for a great breakfast of cereal, toast and yoghurt. The owner, Louise, was exceptionally welcoming and accommodating.

The area is very quiet at night, although there was a little traffic noise in the morning.

My husband and I chose this cottage based on its proximity to Le petite Tracteur. The host Louise had a wonderful fire going for us In the wood burner for our arrival and plenty of provisions in the fridge. She was incredibly inviting and told us about all the good things to do in the local area. The cottage was clean, well equipped and had a spa bath. The view from the back of the cottage was stunning complete with an alpaca and baby donkeys.

We would definitely recommend this as a place to stay and will be returning.

What a lovely find! Louise is such a welcoming hostess and helped us feel relaxed from the moment we arrived. The gardens are very pretty, the views from the cottage spectacular, and the accommodation is cosy and perfectly located. The wood fire was a treat!

Louise the owner is a fabulous friendly hostess. Her enthusiasm for the area is great. The cottage is as beautiful as the view across the valley. Treat yourself to a sunrise. It's worth getting up for. The cottage is well stocked with local produce for your breakfasts, the bathroom is well stocked for the spa & showering, the wood fire is easy to light thanks to the written directions & the brochures & books of the local area extremely helpful. Try the French restaurant you can walk to as it is just across the road. I can't wait to return. Again many thanks Louise for a great weekend

We were attending a wedding at port Phillip estate and wanted accomodation close by, only a 10 minute drive.
Louise contacted us the day before our visit and gave us some tips also checking out transport options for us to get to and from the wedding. We were greeted personally upon arrival, welcomed and shown through our cottage.
Excellent accommodation had everything you need, price was reasonable and was in peak season, would stay there again. Highly recommend

collecting keys for check in?
Answer from Roadruna
Melbourne, Australia91 contributions31 helpful votes
During the day you can collect keys from front house, first drive way to your left then first house to your right. If your checking in late,, they usually leave the key in the front door or inside on table. Ask them when you ring to confirm. They'll tell you. They're really helpfull.

"There are two identical cottages side by side, the Rose and the Kookaburra. The Kookaburra is a little more private, as people coming down the drive can look into the Rose if the blinds aren't drawn. Both, however, are secluded and have stunning views and private gardens."
