I am a tour coordinator for a company that has used the Mayan Ranch the past couple of years. A few months ago, I got to visit the ranch for myself and stay for 2 nights to observe what our customers thought of the tour....More

Thank you for sharing your positive review of your recent stay at the Mayan. We were so pleased that you enjoyed your stay, despite the heavy rain. As a result of the rain, our river is up and running and our guests are enjoying swimming...More
If you want to indulge your inner cowboy but aren't perhaps born to the saddle, this is the place. The good points are numerous - twice daily rides which follow trails all over this large property on docile horses which is a great thing if...More
My 5 best friends from college and I shared a cabin at this lovely family-run ranch! We just got back after being there for a long Memorial Day Weekend when the area had some of the worst floods in recent history! The family/staff were unbelievably...More

Hi. The nearest airport is San Antonio. The ranch does not have a shuttle, but when I inquired about it I was told they know of a 3rd party outfit that will shuttle for about $100 each way. It was cheaper to rent a car, especially seeing as though that allowed me the freedom to drive to Boerne for shopping
My geography isn't great but I think the Grand Canyon is in another state and I hadn't heard while in Bandera of any excursions to the G.C., probably because of the distance. Mind you, if you already have a rental car, do the G.C. at the end of your stay at the ranch and drive there yourself.
BTW, it will be stinking hot in Bandera in August.
3 or 4 nights at the ranch is an optimal amount of time, IMO.

Texas is crazy hot in July and August. Having said that, there is fishing, archery, BB guns, swimming, ping pong, riding. My son is 8 and he loved it. Lots of other kids to play with. We went in October.

"June and July are very hot, but manageable. Take extra clothes and a hat is a must."
