The private cabin was very spacious and relaxing. They even provided firewood for the wood burning fireplace and the fire ring outside, and charcoal for the BBQ grill. We also found tubes on the front porch to use in the creek running through the property, which was a nice treat after a long day of riding. We brought food and... More

We travelled from the UK as a party of two couples and included a two night stay at HCEL as part of our tour of Texas. None of us have any experience with horses and were concerned how this would limit our experience. Thanks to the wonderful staff and extremely adaptable horses it didn't. We had a great time. The... Highly recommend this little piece of country heaven. If you love the outdoors, peace and quiet, horseriding while in the comfort of gorgeous, well equipped, very clean cabins - this is for you. Well off the beaten track for complete seclusion. The owners Diane and Peter are really lovely and always on hand to answer any questions you might have.... More

...and came through with flying colors. By early each morning most of the water had drained and the sun came out for the day. The wrangler's didn't miss a beat getting the horses cleaned up (some were covered with mud) and tacked for a beautiful ride among the surrounding hills away from rushing creeks; we made it to a peak... I loved my stay and experience at Hill country Equestrian Lodge. My goal was to regain confidence, overcome fears and improve my riding. Dianne was attentive, detailed, present and consistent in her teaching of horsemanship and riding skills. She challenged me without making me feel overwhelmed and brought my riding up to the next level. Many compliments to the well... More

I came as a solo female traveler with two distinct goals in mind: ride happy horses and sleep/relax/read in a peaceful, nature setting. I got both of these and so much more! From the first night sitting on my front porch with their dog snip by my side watching fireflies to the last night where they made me their honored... More

Diana's place is just wonderful. So beautiful surroundings and beautiful lodges! This is such a peaceful place and the lodges is located with distance to each other so it feels very private, almost like having your own home. The decor is just amazing and the open fireplace is very romantic. Mu fiancé and I are both experienced horseback riders and... More

It was a wonderful experience. We loved every min. of it. We rode in the Hill Country State Natural Area and in their pastures, it was very impressive . We also had private riding lessons. The staff is very friendly, all of them are experienced riders. They take good care of the horses. Food was really delicious. I eat gluten-... More

When I called Dianne, I assumed I was speaking with the front desk and someone who's job didn't involve getting outdoors much. I imagined a big stable out back of low-spirited, worn out horses that would grudgingly trudge along the same route of a trail every day. Was I surprised! Little did I know Dianne was the actual horse expert... More

I visited the Hill Country Equestrian Lodge twice. Both times in February (2015, 2016) for at least a week (wish I could stay longer). On arrival, I was given my own cabin that was incredibly comfortable and had a stocked refrigerator! From the windows of my cabin, I could see the entrance to the Hill Country park, not to mention...
