NOTE I ate here; I did not sleep here! Very good German food in an English pub setting. Chef is German -- southern German -- so we had spatzle (noodles); schnitzel; wurst; ripchen. We all were happy with our meals. Pilsner Urquel (Chech beer) on tap!

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea here yesterday, probably one of the best I have ever had. There was a wonderful selection of delicious homemade cakes and pastries (the scones were barely out of the oven!), freshly made sandwiches, mini pizza and a big pot of steaming hot tea, just what was needed on a chilly day....

What an oasis this place is. The Buck inn. After 13 miles in constant rain and over very gruelling terrain up and down numerous steep long inclines we reached Clay Bank carpark to be collected by Wolfgang. The owner. He was like a knight in shining armour in his Audi Q7. We decided not to pitch up iur tent up...

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here today - a lovely, warm welcome by the bar staff and the owners. Lovely place, very cosy, with a fab choice of drinks and food. We opted for German beer, which was nectar. Foodwise - starters were game bird with black pudding and bacon for the hubby and chilli & garlic king prawns for me....

Just reflecting on what a wonderful movement the gastro pub has been for the UK. The Buck totally typifies that trend, not just a warm welcoming pub, but also excellent food, with amazing views in one of the most spectacular landscapes in the UK. In addition, the publicans are incredibly hospitable. There are not many pubs that I would feel...

After a pleasant nights sleep , we enjoyed a great mornings walk in the surrounding area. The overnight stay was a surprise for my wife. The room , although slightly smaller than I'm used to, was immaculately clean , with well appointed decor & nice and warm. Breakfast was freshly prepared with what I would say "All premium quality ingredients...

My son bought us a 2 night stay at the Buck Inn to be taken before the end of March so we went last week. It's bit out of the way but well worth a visit as you are not too far from Helmsley, Stokesley and Pickering. The room was clean and well maintained and the power shower was excellent....

Had a lovely surprise birthdday meal and stay over at the The Buck. This country pub has a lovely atmosphere and as always the food didn't dissapoint. Lovely meal, I thoroughly recommend the garlic and chilli prawn starter. Breakfast was delicious as well. I also have to mention the owners and staff. They always make you welcome and nothing is...

We were walking the Cleveland Way. The Buck Inn is about three miles off the route, which is a long way when you are on foot, but they will pick up and drop off from Clay Bank or Carlton Bank. Dinner was excellent. What stopped me giving five stars was the hospitality tray having only one tea bag per person...
