We traveled during the first few days of January and the property had been closed for the holidays-- that's the only reason I can think that we were the only guests but it was a wonderful experience. They only have two en suite rooms with bath but we were told that you could request any of the other rooms to...

I can't say enough about this place! What a beautiful historic gem! And beautifully restored and kept up! The rooms are furnished with antiques and are meant to look as they would have in the 1800s. Beds are super comfy. Breakfast was continental with foods from local establishments. The staff was incredible and we learned a lot of Texas history...

This was a return visit to the Landmark Inn for us. Our previous stay was several years ago. The Inn has gone through an extensive two year restoration. It still retains the character of days gone by but now has wifi. Our room was stark but very clean and had several antique pieces in it. The bed was wonderful as...

We LOVED the Landmark Inn in Castroville, Texas. The historic buildings are beautifully restored. We drank wine on the lovely upstairs veranda on a perfect December afternoon, strolled the acreage, and had a delicious dinner at a local restaurant. We rented two rooms upstairs that shared a bath. The innkeeper was knowledgeable and friendly, plus his house was right next...

I rode my bicycle 40 miles from north central San Antonio to Castroville with a friend. From the moment I arrived I was greeted with a smile by Libby and the rest of the friendly staff. We stayed in the "Castro Suite" which is one of (if not the) largest rooms at the Inn. It was breathtaking. Don't let the...

Great Place! My son was married in May and my husband and I, my relatives from out-of-state and our friends from out-of-town stayed with us at The Landmark Inn. We rented out all the rooms for the weddng weekend and had a wonderful time. We were able to socialize at the complimentary breakfast either in their dining area or on...

I have stayed at the Landmark Inn probably about 6 times over the last 5 years. most recently New Years weekend 2005. It has 10 rooms in three different historical buildings. If you want to see good pictures and descriptions of the rooms go to the web-site of Texas State Parks as this is who owns and runs the property....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
*** YES WE ARE OPEN! Our two-year renovation project was completed in December 2015. Please stop by for a tour or call to make a reservation in our B&B. *** The Landmark Inn dates to the late 1840s when it was a pioneer home and store owned by Caesar Monod, a recent immigrant to Texas. Joseph Vance bought the property from Monod in 1852, expanding the store and later adding a separate house. Vance sold the portion of the property near the Medina River, which became the site of a gristmill, sawmill, and cotton gin. J.T. Lawler bought both properties in the 1920s, converting the mill into a power plant that provided Castroville with electricity for the first time. Lawler's daughter Ruth donated the property to the state of Texas in the 1970s. Today the property is under the stewardship of the Texas Historical Commission and operates as both a public historic site and a bed-and-breakfast. ... more   less
