Overall good stay; our room was good and so was breakfast. I must take off one star for charging me a "no show" AND a full regular room charge, when all we did was arrive very late (after 2 AM) for our single-night stay. The next morning I was able to get it straightened out after a bit of explaining and convincing at the front desk. Amusingly, folks staying in rooms 218-221 are directed both ways when they exit the elevator (see photo).

I had a made reservation four weeks earlier for one night at this hotel on 2/16/2022. As I was driving towards the hotel at 11 am on the day of check-in I received a call from probably the most junior employee at this hotel informing me that my reservation had been cancelled. The reason: "because they did not have any more rooms available"!!! The cancellation window had closed the day before - but apparently not for the hotel! When I told the junior employee that they would have to fix this problem and find me a different hotel she unceremoniously hung up on me. THAT IS THE WORST "SERVICE" I HAVE EVER RECEIVED FROM A HOTEL AND YOU SHOULD AVOID THIS HOTEL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!

The last time we stayed here I wasn’t really impressed. This time it was much better. The room was clean when we checked in and the dispensers in the shower were filled. The lady at the desk was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great! I have to say they had the best breakfast on Sunday morning!

The floor in our room was not vacuumed before or during our stay. We were on the first floor, and every time someone above us flushed the toilet, it was really loud in our room. The soap dispenser was nearly empty when we checked in, and was not filled during our stay. It is conveniently located. There is a small exercise room and a pool that is currently closed.

Newer hotel. Business three-night stay. Jayme, Front Desk, goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect. She helped me with a wireless mouse and made copies of documents for me, making my work project much more efficient to complete. She is so pleasant and definitely an asset to the facility. Because this is a newer hotel, everything is in great shape. Microwave and refrigerator is available with a Keurig coffee maker and coffee pods. The only hiccup is a very slow wifi. Breakfast hostess multi-tasked daily refreshing both the wide selection of rotating hot and cold items. The property maintenance manager greeted me daily with pleasant greetings and offer of assistance. Hotel is across the street from Walmart, Walgreens, and fuel station. Restaurants are a short distance away. Very quiet room. This is a very well-run hotel.…

We were in Gatesville because my husband had a training exercise at Fort Hood. It was a very nice, moderately priced hotel. The desk and cleaning staff were very friendly, and helpful. The pool was nice. The only thing we did not notice was umbrellas. I may have overlooked them, but the first thing that came to mind was it is Texas in July, and some shade will be needed to sit outside by that pool. The workout center also looked very nice, and the machines looked to be in good shape. I did not personally use them, so I can only comment on appearance. The room included a Keurig, a microwave, and a large double dorm sized refrigerator. The hotel provided a good breakfast which included hot and cold options – oatmeal, pancakes, cereals, pastries, muffins, etc. So, let’s get to the issues. First, our room was not handicap accessible, but it had a lower peephole for wheelchair accessibility. This would not be a problem if the cover had not been pulled off allowing light into the room. I was really wishing I had some duct tape to cover it. If the light through the peephole was not enough, there was a HUGE gap below the main door, and the adjoining room door. We ended up taking the pillows off the second bed and placing them on the floor to block the light. Second, the walls were very thin. We heard the person next to us coughing all night long. I know that a lot of military stay here, and they are more tolerant of these things, but their families may not enjoy the experience. It also sounded like water was running our entire stay. It was not in our room, and when we spoke to others staying on the same floor, they reported the same issue. Last, we had a really hard time getting washcloths. Upon check-in, our room was stocked with 4 bath, hand, and washcloths. The first couple of days were fine, but after that, when the room was restocked, they quit leaving washcloths. We asked the cleaning staff, they said they would have to bring them later. On our final night, we had been out all day, and came back to no washcloths. We went to the front desk, she checked the laundry…they were completely out of washcloths. I am still trying to figure out how a hotel runs out of washcloths. Overall, I would stay here again. There is a Wal-mart across the street, and an H.E.B. five minutes from the hotel. It is close to Killeen and Waco, and has several good restaurants within driving distance.…

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on many occasions and have yet to be disappointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are always clean and comfortable. The breakfast is good as well. I highly recommend this Holiday Inn Express.

Did not receive a welcome amenity and on one day the maids just flat forgot to clean the room. When I called down to ask for clean towels to be sent to the room we were told to come get them. I don’t know whether this was just laziness or something else. But it was pretty much the worst service I’ve ever had in any IHG brand hotel.

Nice stay. Very quiet since there were only a handful of guests. (Dec 23) Allowed us to check in around 1:30 which is always appreciated. Friendly employees and clean, comfortable room. Will stay there again. :)

No surprises. Clean, comfortable room. I’m a fan of Holiday Inn Express, so this one is about the same as others. That’s not a bad thing. As much as one would want to be close to other happenings in Gatesville, this hotel is an easy drive. All good.
