I am writing a fresh 2021 review that will give you an idea of this place. It is a motel that is dated for sure, but not a complete dump. Josh at the front desk is really helpful. He gave me restaurant suggestions and directions to the local Wal-Mart. My impression upon arrival was like any other out dated motel. The pool was not maintained possibly due to the end of the Winter season. The parking lot is a parking lot. They do have a sitting area for smokers. An area that you can walk your dog. The rooms are decent for the price. I did not see any bugs, or mice. They did not have the breakfast up and running due to COVID but was able to get a fresh cup of coffee from the nice lady on the morning shift. They do have Wi-Fi, cable TV, smoke-free rooms, I stayed in a queen room that was clean, smelled fresh. It had a mini-fridge, 4oz coffee pot, microwave, and hairdryer that was all very clean and worked efficiently. They are one of the few motels in Gatesville that are pet-friendly. As I had my little ankle biter with me. There is a quaint family ran restaurant that is in the parking lot of the motel named Prima Pasta. Rae is the sweet lady that took my to-go order and talked to me while I waited. My food was hot, fresh, and tasty. Over all, I had a comfortable enough stay for one night. …
Worst stay I have ever had. The property itself is nothing like the pictures on Choice Hotels website. It has weeds growing over a foot tall. The parking area had broken concrete stoppers. The room had mice scurrying around all night. May have been rats! The droppings next to my shoes were large! Didn't get much sleep because of it. When I told the gentleman when I checked out, he acted surprised, but he had to know! The toilet seat was broken. It was terrible! Do not book this hotel!!
Ok the workers are friendly and helpful but the WiFi sucks so staying here for 2 months on orders was a drag. Wasp nest in the vent so I don’t think this place sprays bug repellent often. Beds are kind of hard. Plug was messed up. It’s a motel. For the same rate I could be getting at the Ramada I have a feeling you’re over paying here.
We have used this hotel for a yearly family reunion for over 20 years and will not be back. Our extended family was booked for over 15 rooms but 4 changed to another place because of bugs. There was no hot water on Saturday morning and we were told the temperature was turned down and would be turned back up. What hotel with every room practically booked has the hot water temp turned down Grass was not mowed and the desk was asked to have someone clean the pool before the kids could swim. This has never been a plush hotel but it has become dingy. Stained carpets , threadbare towels, not very comfortable beds are just not acceptable when there are new and better options in town
While in town for a softball tournament we decided to stay in town rather than drive 6 hours back and forth. When we booked online, the claim was that there was a full breakfast and wifi. As we're currently gluten free, due to dietary issues, we decided to spend a little more and give it a try and I planned on working from the motel between games. Well, when we got here the breakfast was continental, all pastries and such. No hot breakfast as advertised, and the wifi is spotty. It works for an hour, then kicks you off and won't let you on for at least 30 minutes, and none of the staff has any clue about the equipment or where to reboot it. Overall, the room was nice and the staff was about what you'd expect, but beware if you actually expect to get what's advertised
We stayed two nights in queen no smoke ... room 217. Check in smooth. I had issue with car and clerk patiently waited while I called bank to sort. Our room was very dated fresh paint. Bed was ok but matters needs replaced soon. Very clean, I tried to find hidden dirty spots like in corners but clean. Landscape needs help. Overgrown and grass around pool full of dog poo. No hot breakfast as they are remodeling. Basically yogurt and drinks? Rate was too high for what it was, but with a baseball tourney and gun show in town, I'm sure it jacked up.
Not sure about the four + stars in these reviews. The folks were very nice, the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The outside stairwells were nasty, trashy, and sticky. No breakfast fare except in cellophane. Broken glass and trash in the parking lot. We had no shower curtain when we checked in. The pool area looked nice but we did not go over there (morning shade only).
When I drove up to this property I was not expecting much from seeing the 1960s era exterior. To my surprise in the interiors have been updated with modern bathrooms and everything in the rooms are up to date and very fresh. Very friendly and helpful staff. I appreciate the flat $20.00 per stay pet fee. Breakfast is included. Very good value. I would stay here again.
The Rodeway Inn was clean, comfortable and affordable. We checked in for a night as we were driving across Texas through the back country. The room was clean and well stocked, the area was quiet and safe. We had a hot shower, slept soundly and had a free breakfast before leaving the next morning.
I unexpectedly needed a hotel room at the last minute, and luckily found Rodeway Inn as I came into town. It was late and I was exhausted but the front desk staff was so friendly and accommodating. Check-in was easy and I was able to get a room on the first floor and quickly got unloaded. The room was very clean and had all the amenities I needed. The breakfast the next morning was great – I had a Texas waffle and there was also plenty of muffins, biscuits, cereals and drinks. I would definitely stay here again.
