We chose here for our 3 night visit to Houston. Having visited many InterContinental hotels around the world, this was the obvious choice for us.

On the map this looks to be far out of downtown, which it is. But it's very close to the metro which is cheap and easy. Location shouldn't deter unless you really need to be walking distance from a downtown office.

Check in was smooth and staff very friendly. We had a lovely large suite on a high floor. The views from it were fantastic. It's always nice to see a city from high up. The room itself was clean, we serviced and well furnished. Great space for a family trip with loads of luggage! The bathroom was particularly noteworthy with a large bath, double sinks and separate shower and toilet.

The Club InterContinental lounge was good. Evening canapés and drinks were plentiful and generous. Breakfast I felt was just OK. The food itself was lovely but was all buffet. In many club lounges, a small a la carte is offered which I think would have elevated breakfast here. But that's my only small complaint. Staff here were very friendly and helpful too. They also allowed us to stay until 6pm due to a very late flight we had. That was much appreciated.

We are in the hotel restaurant. Once again, excellent staff, friendly and very helpful. The food was very tasty here and great value, we thought. Our waiter was great, good character and entertained my 11 year old too. Always makes it memorable when the staff go the extra mile. Oh and have the Shiner Bock beer, it's lovely!

We'd definitely stay here again in future if we were to return to Houston.

Room Tip: Metro isn't far. Go for a high floor for views. Club lounge worth it too.

I was told by the cab driver that this hotel used to be a Hilton hotel- not sure if that’s the case but if it was, then ICH has done a great job of updating the hotel and rooms to a very modern yet understated decor. The rooms are comfortable with desk space, an armchair and in room Nespresso coffee maker plus a kettle for their selection of gourmet teas! The bathroom has a shower stall, no tub, and a good selection of toiletries including conditioner. One thing I noticed is that you can hear the plumbing from adjacent rooms- too bad that there isn’t more insulation to make the rooms more serene. The room thermostat and fan are also noticeably loud when they kick in so I just turn it off. The bed is very comfortable with oversized pillows. Overall, a very enjoyable and pleasant stay but when I checked in, I had to “agree” to being on the hook for any damages to the room to the tune of hundreds of dollars. I can understand why this might be necessary in a newly renovated hotel but hope that management does not use this gratuitously- if they decide to charge me for something when it was not damage resulting from my stay, what recourse do I have after I have left the hotel?? They have my credit card on file! For that reason alone I will consider other hotels the next time I come to Houston.

The InterContinental Houston - Medical Center not only has an amazing location near to Rice Village, the Medical Center, and Downtown but also has superior guest service. Every individual treated me with the utmost respect and kindness. In addition to this, all necessary precautions are being taken to protect guests and employees. All employees are wearing masks and gloves. There is also social distancing in place in the elevators and glass partitions at the front desk to ensure guest safety. The gym is open by appointment only to allow guests to work out as well as the pool is open at a limit of 10. I also asked for a nail file around midnight and a nail kit was dropped off within minutes of me calling guest services. Also, I loved how our room had a little note from the cleaning crew ensuring our safety and adding personalization to the room. The Intercontinental always goes the extra mile in guest service and I will be back.

The Intercontinental Houston unfortunately continued our disappointing experience with IHG in America and was well below the service standards of this brand in Europe, Asia and Australia where we have found them to be exceptional.

I am a Platinum Elite IHG member and have stayed at IHG properties all around the world. We have travelled to over 40 countries.

The service in this hotel was the worst of any Intercontinental we have experienced.

No assistance with our luggage on check in despite me struggling with 3 large and 2 small suitcases
One drink voucher for a platinum elite traveler in a group of 3
One dressing gown and slippers provided for a party of 3 (in a room that accommodated 4 adults)
The room was not cleaned until after 3pm and then was not done properly.

The room service was terrible - the old sheets were left on the floor, no toiletries provided. When we rang and asked for toiletries so we could have a shower, it took 1.5 hours and two phone calls for them to be provided. I spoke with the same front desk man on both phone calls and his only response was “oh haven’t they come yet?”.

The breakfast staff - particularly the blonde barista were just downright rude
No coffee offered with breakfast - when we went to the bar and ordered 2 cappuccinos, first the barista refused to serve us, then we were charged $12 US for two small cappuccinos which were burnt and undrinkable.

As we went to leave breakfast, they then tried to charge US $92 for breakfast for 2 adults and a 4 y.o child even though we told them breakfast was included in our room rate. Then they presented a new invoice for $75 and again we told them that it was included in the room rate. They just kept saying you need to sign it. I even wrote on the invoice that breakfast was included but it still got charged to our room and I had to complain to the front desk on check out (when they tried to charge my credit card) to have it removed.

The hotel itself was beautiful but the service provided by staff was terrible and nowhere near what we have experienced around the world.

Our experiences with IHG hotels over the past 4 weeks have been so bad that we will no longer use this group for our travel worldwide as they are expensive but have failed to deliver on quality service.

We previously preferenced Hilton Hotels internationally and their service and Platinum level benefits leave IHG for dead so we will be going back to them.

Greetings Rodney, Thank you for providing us with valuable feedback regarding your most recent stay. We are disheartened to know the level of hospitality you received at our property was not to the standard you have come to know of our brand. As a valued IHG member, we thrive in exceeding your expectations and regret to learn that we missed the mark on this occasion, as this truly is not an accurate reflection of our service abilities and typical exceptional levels of customer service. We do hope you will be returning to Houston so that we may have the opportunity to impress upon you a more accurate reflection of our services, and would be delighted to personally oversee your upcoming arrival to ensure your stay is a memorable one.

I was staying overnight after a long day of workshops and meetings. I arrived at 8pm, was greeted by the valet staff who were so courteous. The registration desk was appropriately secure (in response to COVID-19), welcomed with such my name, asking about my day and was able to get my key within 5 minutes.

The room was open, had a small refrigerator, Great coffee and a very large and relaxing bathtub in addition to a great shower.

Such a wonderful experience at the end of a long day

You cannot be too careful in times like these. We're glad that you noticed the little touches, but also the big one. We added Integrated Viral Protection filters to the lobby and restaurant that have been proven to eliminate COVID by 99.999%. We're happy you enjoyed all the amenities, and we hope to see you again soon.

Carla Blanco was our 100+ person event coordinator. We received rave reviews from all attendees. The ball room was equipped with a IVP Air Bio-Defense Indoor Air Protection System - creating a comfortable space and providing peace of mind to all attendees. The air protection system eliminates 99.999% of airborne COVID-19. The ball room was used during the day for a conference and then for dinner in the evening. Balcony and private party room was reserved for a beautiful luncheon. ALL staff was cordial and so helpful. Some out of town attendees stayed at Intercontinental and were very happy with their rooms. Excellent place!!!

I had to spend a night in Houston for business in November. Being a Spire Ambassador I look for Intercontinentals where I can and was pleased to come to this property. I arrived at 10.05pm on a Sunday night, not having eaten for hours. Although the kitchen had just closed the person who checked me in and the bar/restaurant staff were incredibly kind and helpful, and I had a sandwich and drink in front of me within minutes!

The rooms are very well appointed, and I had a tasty lunch in the restaurant the next day (the chicken schwarma, on which others have also commented favorably!) before leaving to head home.

The only potential drawback to this property is the location. If you need to be at the Texas Medical Center, there is probably no better place to stay. But there is nothing else nearby to visit on foot - no nice restaurants, etc. But if that 'isolation' doesn't matter and/or the location is what you need, you should certainly consider staying here!

Thank you for the wonderful feedback. We're glad that you enjoyed your stay. Our hotel offers a shuttle that will take guests within a 3 mile radius of the hotel to places like the Houston Zoo, Museum District, Rice Village, NRG Stadium and more. Granted there are few places to walk, but we are in close proximity to some of Houston, top shopping, dinning, and attractions. Be sure to check with the front desk on your next visit for some of these top destinations and they'd be happy to help enhance your stay.

I stayed at the hotel over the holidays to attend the Houston Zoo Lights. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rooms were clean, bright, with great views. We enjoyed dinner at Safina and loved our charcuterie board. The cocktails from The Naturalist Cafe and Lounge were excellent. After our visit to the zoo, we treated ourselves to ice cream in our rooms. The staff was friendly, efficient, and courteous. And what a gorgeous property! With wall-sized murals, paintings, and a living wall throughout the lobby and lounge. One great feature was the IVP Air machines that cleaned the air for any pathogens every 15 minutes, adding a layer of confidence that this was the safest hotel to stay at. I didn't get a chance to use it, but they also have a neat Guest Perks program where you get discounts at local shops and salons, which is pretty neat.
Highly recommended for business and pleasure!

My fiancé and I stayed at the Intercontinental Houston - Medical Center on Valentine's Day weekend! From the moment we walked in, the staff was extremely polite and accommodating to anything that we needed! The ambiance of the lobby was stylish and modern.

We ate dinner at the restaurant on the first floor called 'Safina'. They had a special 4 course meal with champagne for Valentine's Day. The food was fresh and flavorful! The restaurant staff showed us amazing hospitality.

The room was extremely clean, spacious, and modern. The bed was super comfortable and I enjoyed my espresso in the morning made with the nespresso machine :) For breakfast we ordered DELICIOUS omelettes and pancakes with room service.

Some other things that I love about this hotel is that it is in close proximity to Hermann Park, Rice village, Houston Zoo, and The Museum District. Also, it is the first hotel in the world to have the Integrated Viral Protection (IVP) device which is the world’s first biodefense indoor air protection system that kills COVID in the air.

I cannot wait to stay here again :)

The check-in process wwnt well and I was able to get into the room an hour early from online check in as a member. Room was clean, bathroom clean, room service with the food was good. If you're driving you have to pay for parking or valet. It's in a good location being close to the galleria. Check this hotel out. Also all the staff wear masks and are up to date on cleaning and covid protocols
