Nestled near Minute Maid Park, The Westin Houston Downtown is renowned for its cleanliness and spacious rooms, complete with modern amenities and ceiling fans, as many travelers have noted. The hotel's atmosphere is vibrant, with live music and a bustling bar scene that, while popular, can contribute to noise in nearby rooms.

I have stayed here before and despite being very weak on Marriott Elite recognition, they run a good ship. The rooms are spotless, ceiling fans enhance the climate, sheets are crisply ironed, front desk and valet very friendly. The breakfast Buffett is also very tasty and inexpensive.

This hotel provided 5-star service to their guests each of the 5 days I stayed during Houston's snow storm last week. The hotel never lost power, despite the city of Houston and state of Texas didn't have any. They had water throughout our stay, and provided generous amounts of bottled water to guests when the city was under a boil water notice. Each day their Chef cooked a yummy, hot breakfast and a culinary feast for dinner- food was not to be found anywhere in the city but The Westin Houston Downtown came through like no one else could! I also had 2 dogs staying at the hotel, as did most other guests. As one of the few dog-friendly hotels, it was so heartwarming that this property welcomed dogs. The hotel GM was consistently in the hotel lobby, greeting guests by name and offering any assistance. The only way you can go wrong is by not choosing to stay at this hotel!

We flew into town just for one night for an Astros game. You CAN NOT find a better location because Minute Maid Park is literally right across the street. We arrived really early in the day and were pleasantly surprised to find that our room was actually already prepared. The front desk personnel were super pleasant and happy to answer questions and help in any way that they could. Be prepared to spend $44 for valet parking. There are several other parking lots in the areas but I'm not sure about their overnight parking policies so we decided to just use the valet. The room was clean and modernly decorated. The bed was heavenly! I haven't slept that well in a long time! You'll have plenty of outlets and usb charging ports. The thermostat is digital and we were so happy to find that we were able to get the room cool enough to our liking. (Texas in June is HOT y'all!!!). We had people on both sides of our room but didn't hear anything through the walls so yay for that! The only noise we heard was street noise like sirens, traffic and the like. We booked a basic king room. The bathroom isn't huge and there's one sink but it's adequate. There was enough living space. There is a small fridge, an iron and hairdryer. Basic toiletries were also available. We did not eat or drink at this hotel so I cannot comment on that. The gym is small and in the basement. You'll find several treadmills, some free weights and a few kettle bells. This hotel does NOT have a pool. For our needs, this was a perfect option. If we decided to go to another game, we would stay here again.

So disrespectful and unconcerned with their guest. Staff repeatedly hung up on me when trying to get basic information on how to get back to hotel by provided shuttle service, manager was unbothered by employee's behavior, refused to provide basic answers on shuttle times and locations. If you stay here expect no customer and no direction to where any alleged hotel amenities may be offered, if at all. One of the worse experiences I've ever had at any hotel/motel. You are better off at a hostel, or on the street. Stay away.

Dear Rebeca R, Thank you for your feedback. We are saddened to learn of your experience and will be reviewing the call to better understand the situation. Sports Monkey provided the shuttle for your event on New Years Eve and unfortunately, we did not have anyway to communicate with their drivers directly. Rest assured we will discuss your concerns with the teams on this matter to improve the communication between venues, transportation and the property. Your feedback is important to us and if you would like to discuss it further, my email is cziadie@westinhoustondowntown.com and my direct line is 713.315.8301. We know we can do better and would appreciate the chance to impress you going forward. Sincerely, Chris Ziadie General Manager

Recently stayed here for a night to attend two Astros games (night game and day game). The hotel is like a 2-3 minute walk from stadium entrance, which is fantastic.
I don't think I'd stay here again though. Here's why. I paid almost $300 for a special package rate on their website for a jr. suite with a 6pm checkout and including a $10 F&B credit. It's called the "work anywhere" rate or something like that.
When I checked in, I asked the front desk lady to confirm my 6 p.m. checkout and she had no idea what I was talking about even after I explained that I booked a rate with a 6 p.m. checkout. She had never heard of that rate/benefit and wanted me to find a booking email that proved that. She did say my booking reflected a late checkout but not a 6 p.m. checkout.
We eventually resolved this and she and her co worker found that yes, I was entitled to a 6pm checkout and $10 F&B credit under the rate I booked. I asked her to program they keys so they would work until 6 pm the next day. She said this wasn't possible, I'd have to come back the next day after noontime and ask for the keys to be re-programmed. That was only a minor annoyance, as fortunately there was no line at the front desk the next day when I had to stop by to re-program the keys.
The room itself was well appointed, large, great shower and towels, etc. BUT it had virtually no natural light because it was a 3rd floor room with the windows overlooking the interior of the hotel atrium. The only natural light was from the atrium skylight ten floors above the room. For almost $300, I generally expect a room to have a window to the outside world and not be located over a slightly noisy lobby bar.
I bought $12 of items at the lobby coffee shop. When I checked out, I was handed a receipt charging me for those items with no $10 F&B discount. Despite having confirmed the benefits at check in, I had to "remind" the check out guy to give me the $10 F&B discount. I would suggest they stop offering the "work anywhere" package if their system is not capable of automatically applying the benefits without the guest having to argue/beg for those benefits at the front desk.

This was not a typical hotel stay. My daughter had just undergone a craniotomy and 2 other surgeries at one hospital and we needed a place to stay for two nights before she would be admitted to another hospital for further treatment. Since our home was not yet set up to be handicap accessible, I tried to book a hotel room through another property first which was not open for regular business at that time due to the Covid 19 pandemic. However, the General Manager reached out to their sister property, the Westin Downtown, to see if they could accommodate us. Not only did they have a handicap accessible room available, the General Manager, Chris Ziadie, made sure we were well taken care of. The room was perfect!! It was handicap accessible and located right next to the elevator. Whendy was there to greet us at our late check in and even provided a parking space right in front of the entrance! These ladies went above and beyond with the care they showed us during our stay and I can't thank them enough. We will back for a weekend stay to celebrate when my daughter has finished treatment!!

The hotel is right across the street from Minute Maid Park where the Houston Astro’s play. Door to door, it’s less than 100 yards. Great location, especially if it is hot, humid and/or raining. No cabs or transportation needed to go to the baseball games.
Our hotel room faced the park and Texas Street. Even with all the pre and post game crowds and traffic we heard nothing and the room was very quiet. Linens and towels were soft and great. The room, and the whole hotel, we’re absolutely spotless and very clean. Plenty of amenities provided in the room. The hotel elevator can only be accessed with a room key, so the safety issue is very well addressed. Parking is valet, at $40/day with unlimited in and out privilege 24/7. Parking can be difficult downtown, this made it very easy.
The Ballpark Bar in the atrium is a good spot for drinks and food and a place to relax before or after the game. The food prices are reasonable, and in fact, cheaper than some options in the ballpark. You have A/C, a table and sports on a few TV’s. Pro tip: Try the fried pretzel on the appetizer menu. It feeds 4, it’s salty, crunchy and served very hot.
The staff, especially the General Mgr., was on site and made a few passes through the bar and lobby checking patrons to make sure the hotel was providing top notch service. I commented that this was probably the best hotel customer service we have had in sometime at any hotel. If you are going to an Astro game this should be choice #1.

We traveled from TN for my sons to see an Astros game. Proximity to the stadium couldn’t have been better. However, I booked the room with prepay rate which was to include breakfast. My reservation acknowledged 4 people in the room and even charged me “extra person” charges but we only got breakfast for 2 people, even after me speaking to someone about the issue. The accommodations were nice but room had a very squeaky ceiling fan in the area with the sleeper sofa. Not what I expect when I stay at a Marriott property.

This is a very bad experience. The valet drove our car out without permission and smoked inside our car. (Photo attached) No towel changing or taking out trash for three days in a row even though I called them each time we left the room.
First, the valet service guy took our car out in the middle of the night, and smoked inside our car. There was cigarette but and ash inside the car the next morning when we got it back from the valet. We contacted the manager and they say they will "investigate" but nobody call us back yet.
Second, they say they will do a quick refresh service everyday to change towels and took out trash, we stayed here for five days and nobody came for three of them. We also scheduled a room cleaning service 24 hours ahead and they forgot it. When we contact the front desk their response was the service guy came and we refused service. This is completely lying bc we were not even at the hotel for most of the day.
Then we scheduled another service for the following day, I even called the front desk to say we are leaving and nobody has changed our towels or cleaned our room for 3 days pls let someone come over. The room was not cleaned at all when we came back.
We were here for a business trip and the company offered us a lot of choices but I picked Westin bc we had quite an enjoyable experience with Westin in other cities before. I will never pick any Westin hotel after this experience. This is a very unprofessional team managing it. Would not recommend to stay here.
