I really loved staying at Granduca! Yes, I only gave it 4 stars because the furnishings were pretty tired and worn, however, the place was super clean! We stayed the 4th July weekend and it seemed like we were one of about 5 guest rooms that occupied the place. On the 4th of July we were almost the only people at the pool. It was great to practically have the place to ourselves.
We ate breakfast one morning and it was very good!! All of the food was fresh and we had a delicious pot of coffee. Everything that we ordered from the bar was well balanced and refreshing. By the pool I had Aperol Spritz’s and they were perfect! They offer a yummy watermelon caprese and a very good fruit cup. The bartenders and servers were all super friendly. We stayed in a suite that had a kitchenette. We didn’t need/use it but it was nice to have a refrigerator for some bottled water.
I was a bit disappointed that when my husband went down to the breakfast area he ordered a pot of coffee to take to the room but he was told there were not enough coffee pots to take one to the room. I thought that was interesting because as I said occupancy was super low. There were only about 5 cars in the parking lot.

The hotel is wonderful. We were helped by Margarita at the front desk who made sure we had help with everything we needed.
The setting is beautiful, and the food and drink served by the bar and restaurant are first class. Will be back again.

Almost perfect, except for one thing. First, gorgeous hotel and staff. Huge rooms, well kept. And they are stocked full of amenities. Only reason I gave it "very good" instead of "excellent" was because the rooms don't have deadbolts on the doors. Meaning, the only extra security is just the little flips metal hotel locks. Quite surprised that a five star hotel wouldn't have deadbolts in the doors. Otherwise, perfect. But an important aspect for safety that's missing

This wasn't our 1st stay at GranDuca and were extremely dissatisfied this time. Upon check-in, we were initially told we were upgraded to a suite. Though a suite, it was an accessible room on the first floor by the elevators and the noise from the lobby bar. Additionally, there was a very prominent low level noise which we can only describe as mimicking a cruise ship engine. We were not going to be able to sleep in this room. We asked the front desk agent to be moved and were told there was only a smoking room and a room with 2 twin beds (I've worked on/in hotels for over 20 years and can't believe there's a luxury hotel with twin beds) which wouldn't work for us, especially for the price we paid. We were later notified by a note under our door that a room with a king was available after a late check-out. This room was satisfactory though the pillows and linens were not that of an upscale hotel caliber so resulted in a poor nights sleep.

We went to the bar to have a drink since we couldn't stand the noise in our room. We sat down and we thought the bus person was cleaning the table in front of us but after waiting more than 5 minutes was asked by the same person if we would like a drink. We both asked for dirty martinis but the bar didn't know how to make a proper dirty martini. I highly recommend higher quality olives juice, olives and Blue Cheese for your Martini's, they were frankly disgusting. My wife asked the bartender 3 times to modify her drink to her satisfaction without avail so we gave up and didn't finish our drinks. The bartenders and servers were not attentive either, conversing with a couple sitting at the bar. We felt like we were distracting them from their discussion.

Our first experience at this property was several years ago and exceptional but this experience has scarred us. We'll choose to stay at a Westin or other boutique hotel in the future.

Stayed one night at the Hotel Granduca and expect I will not stay there again. While a relatively minor issue, because of how it was handled - see that the employees are not empowered to take care of the customers. Package I booked included vouchers for breakfast ($23 per person). When looking at my bill after checkout I noticed I only had one voucher. I asked the lady at front desk about it, she said I only showed one person on the booking so I only received one voucher. Had my wife with me so thought it would be an "easy" fix. She said she could not fix, so she went and got someone from the back that might be able to help. All I got from her was the same explanation - no offer to help. Left it with the lady at the front desk saying she would call me that day after discussing with a manager. Never heard anything back. Little shocking that they would treat a customer this way over a $23 credit that was part of the package.

My family arrived early and were told our room wasn’t ready and they would have housekeeping work on it. One hour later we were told the same thing. Fast forward 3 hours later, my two kids, my husband and I are STILL waiting in the gym with nowhere to go. It’s 2:45pm. I understand hotels have check in policies but this is an off weekend and this hotel is empty. I can guarantee the room is ready and they’re just not wanting to help us. Even if it weren’t, it doesn’t take 3 hours to get a room cleaned. They should have compassion that we have kids with us. I would understand if they were busy but they’re not and they’re not even apologetic about it either. For the amount of money this hotel charges you would think they would have better customer service. Won’t be coming back.

Super overpriced for how it looks and what it delivers. For over $750 per night I was expecting someone to help me carry my luggage up to the room but had to do it myself. Hotel looks old. Food was mediocre and fees were absurdly expensive $62 for a burger brought to the room. Hotel has a dark mustard like color on walls of rooms and lobby which makes it depressive. Very small hotel with very small outdoor area and small pool. I was told my room was just cleaned but there was hair and dust everywhere. Great location but there are much better hotels in the area. The Granduca is pet friendly so this is a plus. Front desk receptionist had no charisma or warmth. It was like talking to a robot and she was not helpful. Overall it was mediocre, overpriced, limited food options, and boring. Unless you are here for the location since it is a walking distance from many shops, restaurants, grocery stores etc.. I do not recommend.

I totally agree with the last few bad reviews. I was looking forward to a unique, 5 star stay at this hotel but what I got was poor service, the run around, a dated old environment and no sleep. Any small sound in the hallway is heard in the room. That’s not ideal but livable. But when someone is out of control in the hallway, someone should intervene. A woman, angry with some man, was yelling at him on her cell phone for 2 1/2 hours in the hallway outside my door from 11:30pm-2:00am. I called the front desk several times as it was impossible to sleep. I was told security was notified and would be up. No one ever came! I asked the receptionist the next morning what happened. She said that management was aware of the situation. I asked to have the manager call me but never heard anything. The next morning, at checkout, I again inquired as to compensation and to speak with the manager. I was told no manager was available and that the front desk could not assist me. I asked for a copy of my bill and was told I wouldn’t be receiving one because I had pre-paid. I was worried because, upon checking in, the housekeeper Zane into the room to make sure the mini bar and items on the table had not been used because, if so, I might be charged for them. Just crazy.
In addition, the bed frame in my room was loose and must have put a hole in the wall. Instead of patching it, they tacked a piece of plywood to the hole. The headboard was still broken and the plywood looked ridiculous and served no purpose.
Obviously, the hotel cares nothing about their guests. I do not blame them for unruly guests but I do blame them for taking no action. Had there been a true emergency, nothing would have been done.
Just an awful stay at an old, run down hotel.

We stayed in the Hotel Granduca over the weekend in January of 2020. We read online that it was a five-star hotel, but found it to be a bit weird and certainly dusty and musty. It did not have a clean feel to it at all. Our hallway smelled like a potato storage bin with a few rotten one buried in the bunch. A large dog was barking across the hall from us each morning and this was the icing on the cake. The food is adequate, but nothing special. Lastly, the hotel made some erroneous charges after we checked out and this was not appreciated.

As a member of the Leading Hotels Worldwide Group, I was looking forward to a good stay in the Hotel Granduca. I picked the hotel specifically because of LHW reputation.

Sadly, nothing about the stay was up to par. Apart from the staff, who were kind, enthusiastic and polite.

The room was extremely expensive, and a little tired. On top of that, there’s 4 sets of taxes to pay. The hotel was also tired.

I was reassured that breakfast was complimentary as I’m a LHW member. Not the case. I got a $23 credit. But when a 3-egg omelette costs $18. And additional two eggs costs $10, a side salad costs $15, and an Americano costs $7, breakfast was coming to north of $53 every day.

I was supposed to stay a week. I called it a day after two nights given the alternatives around Houston.

As mentioned, the staff were lovely, a redeeming part of my brief stay. Thank you Alba for making breakfast a pleasant experience.
