We have stayed here three times. Twice in bigger rooms that were added on and once in the original building. The rustic feel of tbe place with the taste of elegance makes this place a hit. Fine dining in the resturant, gardens across and dkwn the street, nearby shops, make fkr a great break from the spartan landscape. Book it...

Beautiful and comfortable accommodations in "Los Portales" section. The bathroom is really lovely and the room was very clean. Highly recommend eating dinner at the 12 Gage- wonderful meal and exceptional service.

We stayed in one of the casitas. There is a very nice common area with a covered walkway. The rooms are very nice, but in a rustic way. The walls are burnished plaster (or adobe) and add a warmth to the room. The doors are all old and weathered - probably from Mexico. The bath room has a large walk...

A change of plans ,due to crazy Texas weather, had us heading to Big Bend. Scrambling for a hotel room , we were very lucky to get a "shared bath" room at the historic Gage hotel. Imagine our hesitation especially at price of close to $100. But it was wonderful. Our room was on the small side....it is a historic...

What a beautiful hotel in Marathon, TX. If you're going to Big Bend, this hotel should be on the itinerary. Beautiful rooms and gardens. Well maintained. Delicious restaurant and warm, inviting bar. Friendly staff. Wish I could give 6 stars!

I really like this place. It is remote, pricey and the gateway to Big Bend. That said it is worth every penny to get away, unplug and relax in the historic hotel. There is now a pool (wasn't here when we last visited in late 2004), great areas for sitting and relaxing around the grounds, from courtyard to firepit to...

The Gage is an old western-themed hotel, complete with rifles and canteens on the walls and cow-skins on the floor. Very interesting and comfortable hotel in Marathon, which is a gateway town to Big Bend National Park. They also have a park-like garden across the rr tracks, which is a cool and inviting place to walk or do some yoga...

We've stayed at the Gage twice in recent years - most recently this past month on a weekend motorcycle trip through Big Bend and The Davis Mountains. We've stayed in the main building as well as the Captain Shepherd House a block away. The Gage is a beautiful old historic property, very well maintained with a great staff and terrific...

I wish I were back there already! This is a beautifully landscaped property reminiscent of a Scottsdale resort. We stayed in Los Portales. The room was comfortable, the shower was beautiful, and there were many thoughtful elements to the room, including a picture window to a mini-courtyard. The room could have used more light, and also I wish there was...

We really heard about the Gage more for the restaurant than the rooms. Yes the restaurant is quite excellent with a reasonable wine list. We both had really good rib eyes and a nice cab. It is dinner only. 1/2 block east is a funky but good place for breakfast. Our room was on the courtyard which is picturesque. Great...
