Like most, we spent the day at Big Bend (excellent in itself!), and arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, about 3pm. Check in was swift, our room was ready. We stayed in the bungalows, which were very charming. The grounds were tidy, landscaping beautiful (even in November!), and room beautifully appointed. The rustic decor was perfect, and the room...

We stayed here after a few days in Terlingua and Big Bend. We loved it. The room was excellent and beautifully decorated and appointed. The bathroom was particularly good. Our room was quiet and part of the main building. The real highlight of this place was the adjoining White Buffalo Bar. We had had an active day in Big Bend...

Myself and my wife stopped at the Gage on 7th October as part of a roadtrip which included Big Bend NP which is not to be missed. We had a room booked in Los Portales and check in was fine, the room very historic but with modern facilities, the staff were all polite and friendly and the swimming pool was...

Hi Steve- Thank you for your review and your honest feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed meeting our polite and friendly staff as well as the swimming pool. I sincerely apologize that your entrée was delivered before you were finished with your appetizer and that you felt rushed. As a true foodie myself, I appreciate how that can disrupt your enjoyment...

Spent one night here after a long trip through west Texas and Big Bend. Hotel had good reviews so was excited to stay here. Check-in was prompt and room was "just" finished cleaning. We had a corner room on alley side of Los Portales with courtyard. The room had two double beds and was clean and fairly spacious. The bath...

I am so glad you were able to stay with us in our Los Portales courtyard property at the hotel and that you enjoyed the large walk-in shower, décor, courtyard, pool and bar service. I appreciate your feedback about the improvements you suggested. We aim to please our guests in every way possible. While we don't have TVs in most...

Quaint historic hotel with charm and friendly service. No details were spared in restoring these rooms, which can be small, but amenities are top notch. Rooms downstairs tend to be a bit larger. There are no televisions, which keeps things restful and quiet. Courtyard rooms surround a pool. The White Buffalo Bar is known for its signature margaritas, and the...

We stayed at the Gage Hotel almost 20 years ago and on our trip to Big Bend National Park this October we knew we wanted to go back again. We had talked about the Gage many times over the years. This place is still a gem! It might be the only game in town and a little pricey but it...

We had heard about this hotel before, so on a trip to Big Bend we stayed here on our way home. The historic hotel was wonderful. Very well kept. We styed in a room next to the courtyard. The room was very clean, comfortable and did provide coffee and pot in room. Not all historic hotels provide this we have...

We were on an overly long road trip through west Texas and the Big Bend Country. Marathon, Tx and the Gage Hotel was our last stop before heading back to Dallas. I had heard nothing but good things about the hotel, and even though the idea of a first class hotel in a town the size of Marathon strained credulity,...

We do have a few suites with large sitting areas and private outdoor patios as well as five rooms with television. Stayed the night prior to visiting Big Bend Park for 3 days. What a great place!! Comfortable, clean, beautiful grounds, sparkling pool, friendly staff. Dinner in the restaurant was a treat! See the White Buffalo in the bar :-) Viewing the stars was amazing! Hope to visit the Spa at the Gage on next visit!

After visiting Big Bend NP stayed a night here in Marathon (pop. 450) on the way back home (via El Paso). Out in the middle of west Texas scrub, the hotel originally was built by a Vermont native in the hope of oil and gas development that never really materialized. Its main attraction now seems to be as one of...
