Our most recent visit to the Gage coincided with a widespread ice-induced power outage. The town itself was dark, as were the facilities at Big Bend. The fireplace in the suite took care of the chill and a candle and flashlight the dark, I leave description of the property to another review - we're repeat visitors and find the Gage...

I have been visiting west Texas and the Gage in particular for years and have enjoyed it very much. I recently stayed in the upgraded rooms in the historic building and was not happy with the changes. The new room decor lacks any style and is reminiscent of a saloon brothel. I understand they wanted to provide private baths to...

You know the old saying, "you get what you pay for?" Well, we paid $242 per night recently and it was not worth it. This was the first time we visited Marathon. First, the walls in the portales rooms are paper thin; we could hear our neighbors and felt the need to whisper the whole time we were there. One...

The restaurant in the hotel is first class, especially for this region, but the price for a meal is not cheap. The service was good and the atmosphere was pleasing. The steaks were well prepared and similar to something that a person would find in a large city. I have no complaints about the setting and quality of the food,...

We stayed in the old part of the hotel that has been updated. I loved the old style and the room was extra large. The staff was helpful and friendly. FYI, we stayed in the front of the hotel and if you are sensitive to noise, you will want to stay further back. We could hear the train but it...

This defines "get away". One of the best remote luxury hotels in Texas. And the gardens are a real surprise along with the multiple venues of rooms to choose from. Looking forward to a return visit when near Big Bend.

This was my first stay at the gage and will definitely not be that last!! Everything about the Gage was perfect. It was so unexpected to find such a great hotel in such a small West Texas town. Service was great and the rooms were wonderful. The hotel and the bar were great as well.

I first came to the Gage for a wedding, and couldn't stay away. The people, the vibe, the food and the amenities are all something special! For a gal who loves West Texas, road trips, Big Bend National Park, sunsets, rocking chairs, great food and a down-home atmosphere (without sacrificing on amenities or comfort), the Gage is this place for...

This is my first (but not last) stay at the Gage Hotel. I'm staying in the historic hotel with a friend. While our 2 double beds do take up the majority of the room, there is still plenty of space for us to move around and unpack things. The bathroom is probably my favorite. Comfy robes, giant shower and beautiful...

I love love love the Gage. Very cute hotel in the middle of no where for a quiet relaxing weekend. I've been quite a few times for weddings, New Year's Eve and for just a nice getaway. The hotel restaurant has amazing food and service and the White Buffalo bar has the best margaritas in TX! The grounds and rooms...
