Detailed Reviews

We arrived at the end of the afternoon and found a parking lot in a building next door, with tight curves and a steep slope, but it was possible to leave the car parked, which would otherwise be impossible, since the Hostal is located in a neighborhood of tight roads and no possible parking. If you come by car, you have to reserve parking for €6 per day. The lady at the reception was very friendly and available, but I confess to disappointment when I realized that she gave free drinks to a couple who were checking in when we were and when I asked for bottles of water, she charged us €1. The rooms and the Hostal in general are very clean and smelling good, but the positives end there... small rooms, even small, even smaller bathroom, noises from the rooms next door are audible as if they were inside our own room . Breakfast was taken at an establishment at the end of the street, with a bad appearance, but well served. In general, if you can't afford to spend a lot of money and it's not for many nights, it's worth it, if there's an alternative nearby at the same price, take advantage of it.

We booked a midweek overnight stay at this Hostal. Driving from Santander to Malaga. On paper it was the best location for a stopover. The primary reason was - it is pet friendly and had parking in an underground garage with steep inclines. Not for the fainthearted, very tight turns.
The 4th floor double ensuite room was clean but very small. We could hear people and TV's in adjoining rooms. The bed was comfortable but pushed against a wall. We are senior citizens and that was not practical for nightime bathroom visits.
No restaurant or coffee making facilities. Finding a restaurant that allowed our well behaved dog inside was impossible. The only option was a takeaway Pizza in our room sitting on the bed.
We would have left much earlier in the morning than we actually did but the lift stopped between floors 3/4 and we were the inside the very small , claustrophobic metal box.The receptionist prised the doors open and we had to jump the 6 ft drop to the floor and passour dog down. It was a very frightening and upsetting experience.
We wont be using this hostal again. It was inexpensive compared to the many other hotels we have used. You get what you pay for, obviously. The 2 female receptionists were pleasant and as helpful as they were allowed.

Very good cleanliness both in the reception of the hostel and in the rooms of this. In addition, we have received good treatment from the service. We will definitely repeat in this accommodation next time we travel to Madrid again. Thank you all for this welcoming experience

Dirty room. Hair in the bidet and on the pillow. Dirty holes in the sheets and bugs on the floor.

I spent three nights at Hostal Colon and it was a great choice. Rooms were simple but very clean, free parking spot for my car and very close to the metro/train station! The staff were very nice too. The only less positive thing was the breakfast: it took place on a restaurant nearby and didn't offer much.
