I love touring the Alsace region of France and have stayed here a couple of times. The rooms are comfortable and relatively quiet considering the age of the building. The restaurant is good as well. I would recommend this hotel as a convenient place to stay in a nice old gated town.

We really enjoyed our stay in Bergheim and this quirky hotel added to the experience. We checked in at about midnight and the hostess was understanding and nice about it even though the reception desk closed quite early (we did notify them in advance). The architecture of the historic hotel building combined with the courtyard and general hotel decor really... More

Genuine style with wooden beams and a balcony covered in ivy. Great location at the main street in Bergheim, offering all peace and quiet you could wish for, still in the heart of Alsace. The full breakfast buffet is one of the best I ever had. Well worth getting up extra early for. I will recommend my inlaws to stay... More

Small hotel with rooms around a courtyard. Quirkily furnished, flat screen TV and shower only bathroom. In centre of the village with restricted parking outside. The hotel has parking which we did not use. We ate in the cosy restaurant that was a carnivores dream. They also catered for veggies like me giving me dishes that were not on the... More

Pat and I arrived on our car tour of Alsace. We needn’t have worried about parking – we just left the car outside. We entered the hotel through a massive studded door into an amazing world of rooms, stairs, corridors, corners, nooks and crannies. There is weathered woodwork everywhere and the stonework, plinths, and giant pots provide an eye opener... More

We greatly enjoyed our stay here. The village/town is charming, and much less touristy than some of its neighbours; and much the same could be said for the hotel. Pleasant staff, good-sized rooms, and what must be the best breakfast buffet for miles around - with eggs cooked to order, freshly sliced ham, several types of bread, delicious home-made jams... We walked into the hotel in the pouring rain, and had to wait for service in what seemed to be a chaotic reception. We were taken up two flights of stairs to an attic room, which had been newly refurbished, and worked very well. Only exception being that the beds were pushed up to a sloping ceiling, which made them... More

Our first impressions of this hotel weren't particularly good, because when we arrived in reception, we stood for about 5 minutes before anyone appeared to help us, and couldn't find a bell to summon someone. However, this was not typical of the service during our stay, which was helpful and friendly. Our room was a good size, reached by a... More

Bergheim is a delightful place and the Hotel Chez Norbert is also a delight. The buildings are quite old and rustic and situated around a courtyard. The bedrooms are nicely designed around the beams etc and we had spacious suites. Each of our bedrooms had a seated area with nice furniture. The bathroom/shower was separate to the WC. You wake... Love it. Stay here every year. Location location location. Center of town, gorgeous ancient village surrounded by moat and walls. I have stayed here every June for the last 10 years. They know me by name and have my room waiting every year. Nice people, good food. Simple to very nice rooms .

“Some general advance notice: the church bells, which is close by, starts going off at 6am in the morning and rings every half hour (with a longer ring on the hour). Also at 7am there's an extra long ring. All of this was very loud and really disturbed my sleep as I'm a light sleeper who likes to sleep in until 9am (especially when I'm on holiday). Also our room's curtains are really black out and it gets bright quite early. Therefore if you are a light sleeper then I would suggest you come with eye masks and perhaps ear plugs. However, that said, I do think that the church bells do add to the atmosphere of being in a historic village and quite nice. It just needs to be managed by the individual!”
