Hotel PortAventura receives mixed feedback from its guests. While the hotel’s location is often praised for being ideal, many guests express disappointment with the room cleanliness and maintenance, noting issues like dampness and unpleasant odors. The value for money is a common concern, as visitors find the hotel expensive, particularly with extra charges.
Despite this, the hotel's atmosphere is highlighted for its themed environment and bright rooms. However, service quality is criticized, with numerous reports of unhelpful staff and disorganization.

Detailed Reviews
After reading some of the previous reviews I was a bit apprehensive about our holiday to Hotel PortAventura but there was absolutely no need to be. The hotel was spotlessly clean and all the staff were really friendly. The main concerns I had read were in relation to the queues for the restaurant. You do have to queue but only to be allowed access at your booked time. When you first arrive at the hotel, the reception staff make you aware of a QR code which you scan which gives you access to book your time slots for breakfast and dinner. It was really simple and you could change the time slot anytime you wanted (subject to their being availability at the time you want). Upon arriving at your time, you did queue a little but only to enable a dedicated member of staff to be able to show you to your table. There were loads of food options available and we ate really well throughout our stay. We had booked full board so we also had vouchers for lunch which can be used either in the theme park or the water park. The entrance to the theme park is right inside the hotel and you and come and go as much as you want. We also spent some time at Ferrari Land and a day at the water park. Tickets for the water park and express passes can be booked from a self service machine in reception. At the end of the night the theme park has a parade and firework show which I would highly recommend - it was ace. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from the nearest supermarket and I would recommend paying a visit so that you can stock up on water. The hotel don't let you fill water bottles from the machines in the restaurant which was a little odd and there didn't appear anywhere else to be able to get free water from. There are water fountains inside the theme park but they are luke warm at best. The beach at Salou was really nice and we hired sunbeds (7.50 euros each) and a parasol (8.50 euros each) for the day. The pool at the hotel was lovely and plenty of lifeguards on duty. The pool bar/cafe served drinks/snacks but they were very expensive and the service was somewhat chaotic. You are also required to pay 1 euro for a plastic cup but you can return them and get your money back (or bring some home as a memento which is what we did !!). We were really lucky with the room we were allocated as it was on the ground floor and the patio doors opened up straight onto the pool area so was really convenient for popping in and out. There were no sunbed wars at the hotel and we only saw a couple of families putting out towels early in the morning. There was plenty of space available for everyone. All in all it was a fantastic family holiday (2 children aged 14 and 12) as there was just so much to do and something for everyone.

The hotel was booked totally for our company due to an annual event. Convention center and all other facilities were in excellent condition. Rooms are good but nothing lavish. They sure do the job. Tap water is drinkable and the bathroom room had one bath towel, one hand towel and one foot towel. Food was of a good quality with slightly less than expected presence of waiters.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
Access to water is too expensive. No water bottles in rooms and you are not allowed to fill water bottles. This is a basic human need. Instead you have to purchase water at €4 per bottle. This is simply unaffordable for a family of 8 needing water throughout the day.
Water machine was out of order.
For this reason (trivial or not!) I won’t return.
Great for access to the park but despite being told Hotel Guests got early access at 10:15am, general admission was open at 10am and so by 10:15am the queue for Uncharted was at 2 hours… What’s the point…

Spacious, well-kept hotel, with extensive garden areas and well-kept swimming pools.
That it is inside the Park is an advantage, because in a few steps you can enjoy all the attractions and shows at any time, and in a few steps you can return to rest and relax at any time.
The common areas are quiet, and the rooms are spacious, well-kept, large and very quiet. Perfect cleanliness and comfortable beds.
The restaurant at the hotel's buffet was varied, careful and with very well-organized table service.
The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The Hotel has parking (on surface) very close to its entrance.

Was not very English friendly, was mainly geared for locals who jumped the queues which went unacknowledged by reception staff. I was given a map and QR code and the rest you had to work out yourself which was quite difficult as it was in Spanish. Room was very far from reception on the ground floor and smelled very damp and musty. The sleeping arrangements for our party i.e a 70 yr old, 15 yr old male a 4 yr old male and female adult was 2 double beds shoved together which I didn't think suitable but reception begged to differ. Fully inclusive did not include drinks so small bottles of water were 2 euro 90 and cola 3 euro 80 each. Lunch was only provided in the park which was quite a trek everyday especially with an elderly person so unless you waited for dinner at 7.30pm or paid 10 euros for a hot dog at the poolside you went without. These extras added considerably to our expenses on what was already an expensive holiday. The childrens park and gym facilities were closed throughout the week we were there although there was a woody woodpecker show on for children at night but again it catered for spanish children. Positives were the lovely waiters and waitresses and the chambermaid who cleaned the rooms everyday. The theme park was extremely busy everyday and you could queue for up to 1-2 hours for the rides all in all I wish we had booked a hotel in salou as there would have been more variety in our holiday . Oh market day in salou is Monday and is well worth a visit but it will cost around 12 -14 euros each way to and from the hotel.

We travelled as a family of four, with a 6- and 8-year-old. This was our first foreign holiday as a family so had fairly low expectations, but I was surprised by the lack of some very basic amenities/facilities. There was no water provided in the rooms, nor anywhere to get easy access to bottled water anywhere in the hotel. The vending machine took our money but was broken. No tea/coffee making facilities (which you would find in almost any even very basic hotel in the UK) No iron/ironing board. Kids had to share a small double bed which was chaos! We had emailed in advance checking the bed set up and whether it would be twin beds but this was ignored. Air conditioning only went down to 24 degrees so was still pretty warm. Corridors were hot and smelly. Hardly anywhere to get food on site, which would have been OK if dinner did not start at 7.30pm which was extremely late for us. I understand that this is the Spanish way, but it is very difficult for international visitors with young children who are used to eating much earlier. The late start to dinner was actually the worst part of the whole holiday as far as we were concerned, because there are very limited food options in the hotel and the park, we were absolutely starving come dinner time, and then it's a frenzied race to queue for the buffet which made everyone a little irate. We ate the same horrid pizza from the only place serving easy food near the hotel entrance to the park every afternoon. I felt like everything was geared to discourage British guests; we had thought that staying in the theme park hotel would cater for an international crowd but this was not so. Hardly anybody spoke English and they made you feel very bad if you did not understand their rapid Spanish. My husband was humiliated by a waitress as he wished her buenos dias and she barked back 'buenos NACHOS' before storming off. We always tried to use Spanish phrases as much as we could but felt they belittled us whenever we did and we felt a bit like second class citizens. Pool was closed with little explanation 2 days in a row (I waded into the water and was told to get out by the lifeguard, it was only a fellow British person who told me someone had been sick in the pool, why couldn't they have put up a sign so I didn't wade in?) Virtually zero entertainment. Had to walk into Salou to get water and supplies, there is nothing nearby unless you want chocolate and sweets from the theme park shop.
The best part was access to the park and the hotel is gorgeous to look at, it's also quite peaceful (perhaps because they are doing all they can to keep British tourists away, e.g, there is no bar, no entertainment, very late dinner, and you are not able to sit on the balconies as they are so small, so perhaps there is method in their madness!) Really undecided as to whether we would stay again, I'd say on balance probably not...

Hotel is OK but showing its age in places.
Nothing to do other than the parks and pool which the kids do get bored of after a few days especially in the heat, there’s no obvious way to get into salou and the beach other than a taxi however we hired a car. It’s about 10 minutes in the car and you can park on at the beach for 1.90 euro an hour.
We went for the full board option and the food in the hotel is ok however repetitive in the buffets, very few staff speak English, nothing is really explained to you when you checkin, could do with a information sheet in English explaining all of their rules and regulations and how to use meal vouchers etc. You need to download the app as soon as you get there to use anything but nobody tells you this. Pool lifeguards are very strict especially no sunglasses and no floats.
You can use your full board in the park and get money off in the restaurants there.
We stayed for a week which to be fair is to long, 4 days and the kids where getting bored of the same thing every day even though the theme park is massive and good. I know you don’t go on holiday to watch tv but there is only Disney channel and cnbc news in English so take a fire stick you can plug them in to the tv but will need an extension lead.
There is no bar in the hotel to speak of just a cafe that takes minimum twenty minutes to get a drink from even if there is only 1 person in front of you.
If you can afford it get express passes otherwise you will be queuing for 1 hour at least per ride. Ferrari land is not worth it to be honest we where waiting when it opened and still had to queue for over an hour to get on red force, there is nothing else in Ferrari land that there isn’t in the main park apart from red force. If your not queuing when it opens red force will be a 2 hour wait all day which isn’t nice in 35 degree heat.
We would go back but only for a couple of days then get a hotel in Salou for the rest of our stay. You get a much better hotel in salou for the price of the resort hotels.
One good thing is the hotel is in the theme park and you have direct access.
Seems Spain is going off Brits, they would get a fright if we stopped going altogether and went somewhere else.

We were spending New Year's Eve until January 2 and my daughter left some stuffed animals worth more than €50 and the staff at this hotel did not return them or answer our calls.
The cleaning staff ignores when they were the ones who only have the right to enter to clean the room.
Neither the management nor the staff of that hotel provide a solution, it is a shame

The hotel is terrible, who allowed them to be called 4 stars I don't know...from the strength of 3 stars and then with a stretch , be prepared that on TVs in the rooms will not have access to smart services (such as YouTube and netflix) in the evening after the park is closed, you will have to watch 5 channels of advertising the park itself , or several channels in Catalan language, cafe on the property there is no, or rather there is stink of toilet , and is there is not possible, in the room bath with broken drain, collected water to the child , ate dirty, climate control was terrible there was no place yet to freeze in Spain , in general the hotel lives from behind the park , no one is advised to choose this hotel chli you will go to vacation in Aventura Park, I think other hotels will be much better.
P.S. ParkAventura Hotel is the worst hotel of my life right now, you'd better buy gifts for your kids, or your wife with the money you just throw on the reservation in this garbage can. I don't write reviews at all, but this time I should have.
Dumpster, not hotel

Stayed for 3 nights on a full board package holiday with Jet2 holidays.
This is our second visit to the park, last time we stayed at Colorado Creek so opted for a change.
The hotel room was large spacious & we had a top floor room with a large balcony overlooking the lagoon pool - we also had another large extra side patio terrace which was great for drying clothes on. The room was nicely decorated in the Mediterranean theme.
Breakfast was good, we always went first thing 8am and was quiet but soon began to fill up with people. We ate in the park with our lunch vouchers, where you can get whatever meal deal is on offer - nothing amazing but you get a full starter, main, dessert and a drink so its filling and good value.
The hotel buffet at night was not good, too busy and too poor quality. We gave up an opted for eating out in the park restaurant swapping our evening meal for a 21 euro voucher each. We ate one night at the Iron Horse Restaurant and I wasn't expecting much, but we had a set menu 3 course meal with a wine or beer for 29 euros - the quality of this far surpassed that of the buffet with everything all served to you in a nice setting. Overall it cost us probably 20 euros total more for the meal than eating in the hotel buffet but it was well worth it. If I went back I would not eat in the hotel buffet in the evening.
The parks were very busy, we didn't want to spend more on fast track passes. We opted for the rides with low queues and did lots of the shows which we enjoyed very much.
I found all staff at the hotel very friendly and helpful. The standout for me of this hotel is its location directly connected to the park, the lagoon pool which is fantastic & the ambience and scenery. Overall apart from the evening buffet it surpassed my expectations.
