I’ll start with the room- We had a superior twin room with pool view and it was extremely spacious with a large, comfortable bed. The decor was nice and modern and the balcony was big with a great, fold out, clothes airer. The bathroom was average but had great amenities such as bath robes and slippers, a comb, toothbrush and paste, sewing kit etc and all shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, conditioner, moisturiser is provided and you are able to request more throughout your stay if you run out. However, we took our own things so didn’t need to request more from the hotel. The only thing I would suggest is packing an extension lead, i’m so glad we did as there was only 2 plug sockets in the room.
Cleanliness- The hotel and surrounding areas was so clean, one of the cleanest i’ve ever seen. However, in the rooms, the maid only does the bare minimum such as making the bed (not changing the sheets) and putting fresh towels in. This wasn’t a major issue as we are clean people anyway and i’m sure if you requested more, you’d get it, but we didn’t feel the need to. They didn’t brush/mop the floors or clean the toilet either which I personally didn’t think was 4 star standard as I’ve been to 3 star places that still provided a decent clean in the bedrooms every day. But, as mentioned above, around the hotel, in reception, restaurant and bar etc it is spotless.
Pool area- The pool is a good size with a waterfall and jacuzzi area all within the pool which is brilliant. They also have a small children’s pool. The main swimming pool ranged from shallow to deep which was good variety. The only thing that let the pool down was that there was no ball games or inflatables allowed. Im aware that the entertainment team do play controlled ball games and have inflatables on a Friday however for the people who don’t want to join in with this, it seemed quite boring. I feel as though ball games are part of your holiday fun, especially for a child! I do understand the no inflatables, to an extent, as it’s not the biggest pool and could get overcrowded but come on, don’t take all the fun away. My advice would also be to watch the lifeguard, one of them was lovely and did allow small balls to be thrown, under his watchful eye however the other lifeguard, wow, he was hard work. He seemed to have favourite guests. Some guests would take balls in the pool and he wouldn’t bat an eyelid whereas he would tell others off. One day, a group of men had a big ball and were playing quite rough and he just sat and watched them, then a child took a small ball into the shallow end and he told him off straight away. One day, we tried our luck and took a small ball in. Straight away he said no. I then pulled him up on this and said ‘well, yesterday you were watching a group of men with a big ball and never said anything’, he said ‘it’s not me, it’s my manager’, I said ‘well look around, I can count at least 5 balls in this pool so why are you just telling us? I think you need to tell everyone if it’s not you and it’s your manager’. He nodded and walked away to then tell everyone else to put their balls away, even though he’d been watching them for ages with it but no, we got told off after not even two minutes. However, he allowed frisbees which is just crazy as they fly through the air faster than a ball but whatever haha. You can use pool noodles and underwater weights though.
Sunbeds- The sunbed situation is actually laughable. There aren’t enough beds to guest ratio so people line up in reception from around 8am and then the doors open at 9am. People were literally running to get a sunbed but to be honest, there was no need as there were still stacks left at 10/10:30am. I think if you went down any later than 11am then there’s no chance. But, I am aware that reception help you to get a sunbed, possibly from the rooftop, when asked as there were some grey sunbeds dotted around which indicated they were from the roof as the main pool sunbeds are blue. We came as a family of 5 people and to be honest, on the days where we had ‘pool days’, we never struggled for a bed but we were always out there before 10:30am. Towards the end of our holiday, they did start issuing tickets on beds if people weren’t sat on them, so i don’t know how the situation is now. As mentioned, there is a rooftop which 100% of the time had free sunbeds, so you can always go up there (it is adults only), there is a hot tub too where you can watch the rides at Portaventura go too which is good.
Staff- The staff were overall nice however there were a handful that were so miserable. The reception staff were always nice and helpful, the maids always said ‘Hola’ with a smile, as did the maintenance team. But, some of the bar staff really let this hotel down. Especially at the outdoor snack bar (not the pool bar, the snack bar), they just looked like they did not want to be there at all! So miserable and I felt as though everything was an issue for them. There was one girl in particular, I didn’t catch her full name but it ended with ‘Suarez’, she was the rudest staff member there, she never cracked a smile and was constantly rolling her eyes and basically slammed down your drinks and food. Along with a man who also worked on this bar in the day, I didn’t catch his name but he was a larger man and he came across almost intimidating. I understand they work long days as they were still working at night time, in the lobby bar, but I feel as though the staff are a huge part of your holiday experience but some of them were awfully grumpy! On the other hand, there were two staff members in the lobby bar who Id like to give a shout-out too, one was Depsy, she was so kind and warm and was always smiling and the other was Alex, he was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. He’d always give us change for the pool table and games room, he was lovely.
Animation team- All I can say about the animation team is wow. Every, single one of them work so hard to make your holiday experience brilliant and they are all, always so happy and jolly. The games they put on in the day were fantastic and they were never too in your face to come and join in. The aqua dance / splash dance were a firm favourite and they were just amazing with the children! This team is a real asset to the hotel and without them, the hotel wouldn’t be what it is. They’re so enthusiastic about their job and they work tirelessly. In particular, I need to mention a girl whose name began with ‘E’, I’m sorry but i can’t remember her full name. She had dark, curly hair. She was just incredible, all the adults and all the children just loved her, she is so energetic and amazing at her job.
Entertainment- I can’t really comment on the entertainment at night because we went out every night. We stayed in on the first night to see what it was like and it was absolutely awful i’m not going to lie so we went out every night after dinner. We didn’t mind this though as we didn’t have any children and we were always planning on exploring Salou anyway. It might have been more enjoyable with children. One night, we came back from a day trip at around 11pm and a Queen tribute act was on, we sat on our balcony and caught the end of it and they sounded good to be fair! But, I didn’t see anything else. After talking to other guests in the hotel, the night time entertainment did seem to be a let down, everyone was saying that it’s best to go out.
Food- Wow, wow, wow. The food was incredible! We were half board so had breakfast and our evening meal included. The breakfast was delicious, there was so much variety, from fruits and yogurt to full English to pastries in the bakery section to freshly cooked omelettes and fried eggs, made by a chef in front of you. For lunch, we ate at the snack bar by the pool and wow, don’t let the service by the staff put you off, because the food was amazing! The portions were huge! It was such good standard of food and their burgers and nachos were to die for. We did not try the pizzas at the lobby bar however did get some ice cream and slushes from there and from the pool snack bar throughout our holiday which were nice. We did not try lunch in the restaurant so can’t comment on this but I assume it’s similar to the evening meal. We stayed for 11 nights and ate our dinner in the restaurant for 6 of the evenings. The food was unbelievable, it was cooked to perfection. It was one of the nicest ‘hotel buffet’ meals i’ve ever had. There was so much variety and it was different every night. They had a chef who cooked meats in front of you, pizzas at the bakery, a tent for kids foods and then a whole load of other things, it was lovely. The only complaint I have about the restaurant of an evening was the staff, they’re so busy which I understand but no one comes round to see how your food was or to offer another drink so when you sit down and you order your drinks initially, we learnt that it’s best to order two each as you won’t be asked again and they’re hard to grab as they’re rushing around, no fault of their own.
Location- The location was brilliant. It was near everything but not too near for it to be loud. The streets in Salou are the cleanest i’ve ever seen abroad. Portaventura, Ferrari Land & the water park are around a 12 minute walk from the hotel which is ideal. We did all the parks and would recommend them all, we spent 13 hours in the main Portaventura theme park, it was brilliant. As mentioned previously, you can see the rides go from the rooftop and I believe, if your room is park facing, you can watch the Portaventura fireworks at night from your balcony. It was a 15 minute ish walk to the train station, where we got the train to Barcelona for a day. Ask reception for more details on this, they were really helpful and printed off the train timetable for us. The beach is about a 10 minute walk, we spent every night by the beach, in the beach bars and clubs, it was great. On the way down to the beach, there are restaurants, bars and shops all the way. There is also a little mini golf bar which is only $5 each and is a laugh when the temperature has cooled at night. The bars are brilliant, especially the Irish ones and the restaurants that we ate in were stunning. We had a beach day too and the sunbeds and umbrellas were a reasonable price.
Spa- The spa was nice, they have a sauna, steam room, gym, indoor pool and loungers and an indoor jacuzzi. They also provide spa treatments. It says to book at least half an hour before but i’d suggest booking days before if you want a treatment as when we tried, they were fully booked for two days then it was time for us to go home so we never got to have a treatment but i’m sure they’re nice.
Top tips- When checking in, they give you a wrist band along with a room key card. Put the key card in the wall to work the electricity and air con (the air con is brilliant) as normal but there’s no need to take it back out and have to remember where you’ve put it as the wristbands also act as a room key! So you never loose them! You can also load them with money, we put money on ours and it was so handy as we didn’t need to take a purse down to the pool (except some euro coins for the pool tables/games room). We just paid on our wrist for our drinks, ice creams, snacks and lunch and when they give you a receipt, it shows how much is left on your band. Also, download the H10 mobile app and type in the hotel, it gives you so much information, including prices of food and drink and numbers to call for reception, maintenance, house keeping & room service etc. If you have facebook, join ‘H10 Salauris Palace Fans’ group, you can ask questions and chat to other guests and some guests leave things like suncreams, pool noodles etc by the lift on their floor and then they post on the group to say help yourself.
All in all, i’d definitely come back to this hotel but I do think some changes would be good regarding the evening entertainment standard, some staff need re training in customer service and i’d like to see more fun allowed to be had in the pool and maybe more from the maids? But overall, it’s a great hotel for families, the animation team, the location, the decor of the hotel and the food are 10/10. I’d definitely recommend, we had a great holiday and would be sure to come back to this hotel if we’re ever in Salou again. Overall, Salou is a fantastic place, so much fun and so much to see and do, you won’t ever be bored!
Unlike many hotels, the photos you see of this place online are true. The communal areas are very clean, the decor is fresh and modern, and the hotel is really very well maintained - not a thing out of place. Family rooms are spacious with proper single beds for the children (not sofa or camp beds) and the mattresses/pillows are comfortable. The daily bedroom clean is pretty basic but we always had fresh towels, bins emptied etc.
The staff at this hotel are great. Hardworking and polite, and in general just a very professional team. I specifically want to mention the hotel’s main Porter. On arrival he instantly was gathering up our luggage, which we were so grateful for after travelling. I saw this gentlemen busy day and night, he really is an asset to the hotel.
The outdoor pool area is good, cold pool, but we never struggled to find sun beds for 4, even though we’ve visited in school hols. The music and waiter service around the pool contribute to a really relaxed atmosphere.
The hotel is well located; the main strip of Salou and the beach are close enough to walk (maybe 10-15 mins) but far enough that the hotel isn’t affected by the noise of the hustle and bustle. The hotel also had taxis ready for us within minutes of our requests so it’s very easy to travel to the attractions (water park and theme parks close by). There’s plenty of small supermarkets nearby too.
The negatives are minor, not necessarily things the hotel can change, and are quite typical of many hotels, but need to be mentioned; you do pick up a fair amount of noise from bedrooms next door/above. The half board buffet has a good selection and the dining service is actually quite orderly and calm, but the food temperature is never quite right (even if you’re first in the queue). Hot food is never that hot/cold food is never really cold. The professional entertainment were mostly musicians. It would have been nice to maybe see a magic show, or a family quiz, or just something else that teens may enjoy.
After many trips to 3 different hotels in Salou over the last 10 years, we really do feel this was the best. There are the little negatives mentioned but overall it didn’t spoilt our stay. We would definitely like to return - thank you Salauris Palace for such a lovely stay.
Our room was similar to our last stay slightly updated with fresh floor coverings bathroom still the same shower over bath towels changed every day when left in the bath if not they weren’t changed,we were there for a week and our bed linen wasn’t changed in that time penny pinching I would guess.
Now here is where my review starts to go down hill the hotel restaurant was in our opinion an absolute shambles
Or organised chaos the previous visit to this hotel was a very relaxed experience for food and this time it was anything but relaxed.
If you are hoping for peace and quiet while eating forget it it is like a mad house children running wild everywhere
Plates smashing all over as they attempt to return to there tables unsupervised by parent who let them run wild lifting food putting it back and generally being un hygienic ,floor covered in spilt food and not enough staff to clean it plates sitting on tables not being lifted, queue of 10 to 15 people waiting on the one toaster for a large amount of guests same for the egg station crazy. Now for the quality of the food since our previous visit the breakfast wasn’t too bad with the usual hard to get wrong sausage bacon and eggs offerings and cereals with someone cooking omelette if your prepared to wait the evening meal in our opinion was very poor offering no roast meats on offering once no steak at all all very poor cuts of pork lamb and chicken and some hot plate offerings with the same meats
Vegetables and a few potato options the whole eating experience is just not pleasant. also no hand sanitizer anywhere in the hotel .In a positive they have a rooftop area with a hot tub with sun beds which is adult only and is peaceful for sunbathing as for the general pool area we went down for a few drinks before we headed to get ready for tea and obviously the lack of staff could be noticed here as the amount of rubbish and cigarettes butts laying under tables was terrible generally all the staff we came across were very pleasant and generally hard working.
This hotel was number one on this site back in 2019 on our last it’s going to take a lot of hard work to get back there again and just to finish off not once on our visit did we encounter any higher level management walking about and keeping an eye on things it’s not all about the profits you need the guests to enjoy their stay there needs to be a big improvement before we would return and it’s a pity as the hotel was really great hope this gives you an idea on what to expect.oh and on a final side note I arrived home with a dose of some sort of bug can’t blame it on the dining room but who knows.

The food is good and worth the money(we stayed half board).
Tips. Take a plug socket extension lead. only 2 plugs in room so trying to have chargers, hairdryer etc is a pain unless you take one.
There is shampoo, conditioner, shower gel in rooms that gets filled up and good quality. So save space in your case. .
Ask for a lower floor room. The lifts are a nightmare! Always queuing and only 2 lifts per half a hotel, so at meal times especially you have to walk up and down or wait for ages.
Order 2 drinks at a time at the evening entertainment as the queue for the bar can get ridiculous.
Take Mossie spray !
Sunbeds - they have a rule if you leave your bed between 9 and 1pm then they take your towels away. They do put a card on your bed and then if you haven’t returned in 15/20 mins they WILL take your things away. However, we seen plenty of times , people in the pool playing with kids and towels being taken and then families lost their beds to other people causing arguments and frustration.
On some occasions the big tall guy who is the usher in the reception walks out and takes towels without even putting cards down 1st. The hotel says there are enough beds for everyone, but there is not. We saw People sit on the white plastic chairs waiting for beds to come up or even grass on people who have left the beds to go to breakfast, so that they can have there bed when the staff take the towels.
Basically if you want a bed, you have to queue at 8;30 for the doors to open at 9am. Run and get beds. Then stay on your bed while your Mrs goes to breakfast then swap over and go to breakfast on your own otherwise you lose the bed.. which works, but a shame as you don’t
get breakfast together unless you go for breakfast before 9 together then get the beds.
It does spoil the stay, but I understand why they do it, to stop the early morning sunbed claims … but they need to ensure people aren’t actually in the pool or at the bar or playing the many games with the entertainment team, before they whip your towels away.
I’m not sure if we would stay again. The food and entertainment is good. But the lifts and the sunbeds make it stressful when you want to chill on holiday and not be setting an alarm to get up for a sunbed. I know the hotel will say they have enough sunbeds on reply to this review, but they have 351 rooms , there isn’t even 350 sunbeds( I counted) , so if 1 person was staying in each room never mind couples and families staying in each room there would never be enough.
Good hotel - left 4 stars for the rooms, entertainment team(amazing) and the food. Let down by the issues I have mentioned.

My choice among all those present on site for this one was on several points:
- location (near PortAventura, close to the promenade)
- Junior Suite with jacuzzi
- Price for total reservation with full board.
I will detail the positive and the negative.
At the same time, I will give a little advice.
+ Positive:
- clean, maintained hotel
- Spacious room (535)
- close to the amusement park & promenade
- full board: Varies and very good (certain comments that I read exaggerate for my part.)
- the staff is smiling and pleasant.
- staff speaks French.
- The system with the bracelet is really great!
- Negative:
- Room will need a little freshening up (several visible wear and tear.)
- Orange juice is chemical at breakfast. (afterwards you have to be realistic, they will never add fresh and squeeze)
- lunch hours (too late)
My little advice:
This won't necessarily help the staff, but using the bracelet is great, you no longer need to carry money around and it can be a relief.
Full board is as described:
Breakfast, lunch and dinner (drink not included for lunch and dinner)
If you want to have peace of mind, charge your bracelet at reception, the receipt allows you to consult the balance at any time after a transaction.
In the off-season like here, the pools were still a little cool, but after a few minutes everything was good.
Small note: the English and German clientele, as sadly in all holiday destinations, suffer from deckchair reservation syndrome.. so you will always have this population of Down syndrome people waiting in line to reserve their deckchair and get away all day.
I highly recommend it for a first time, the value for money is excellent (be careful in high season, it must be complicated)

This was our first trip abroad since Covid and we made a good choice.
In balance there were a few small criticisms - the housekeeping staff really need more time to service the rooms, ours was quite dusty and the floor gritty after 2 weeks and the downstairs toilets were not apparently cleaned in the afternoons making them quite unpleasant at times. Bearing in mind that most hotels are struggling to get back to pre pandemic staffing levels and breaking into profit again , these slight difficulties could be understood. I did feel that everyone was trying their best.
Overall a very good holiday for the price paid but the best part being the friendly welcoming staff.
Very close to Port Aventura, from our room we could see the parks and hotels of the resort, you can walk without problem.
You can also walk to the beach.
The pool was very clean, with plenty of sunbeds, but from the first hour there were people waiting for it to open and then you saw the pool almost empty and the sunbeds occupied with towels.
We loved the terrace and jacuzzi on the 6th floor.
The food is good, there is variety, both for vegetarians and for those of us who are not.
Very nice staff in general.
The room access bracelets should cut off what is left over at the reception, because it is a bit annoying and you put it everywhere without realizing it.
Good hotel, good location, I will return with my family for sure when I return to Salou
