Just back from 10 days here and I honestly can't fault it. Antonio and the crew (the animation team) were amazing, keeping people entertained morning, afternoon and night. Food was delicious, something for everyone and the staff were so nice. They run a tight ship here replacing items as soon as they were used so the displays of food always looked full and cleaning away used plates and glasses quickly and always done it with a smile, I was surprised to see Yorkshire puddings and roast beef on a Sunday. You can find bottles of Cava and fresh juice so you can have a wee mimosa for breakfast . Rooms were cleaned every day and towels changed. Tea and coffee making in the room was a bonus as you usually have to hire one anywhere else. They also supplied tea, coffee, sugar and in the bathroom you'll find soap, shower gel and a hair dryer. There are water stations with ice cold water around the hotel and reusable plastic cups so you never go thirsty. We used it also to fill the kettle and bottled water is free in the restaurant. I loved these little touches. Apart from the outdoor pool they have and indoor pool and jacuzzi which felt so relaxing after returning from a long walk. From the moment you walked in the door the staff couldn't be more pleasant or helpful. If I come back to Salou I wouldn't consider anywhere else it's top class. It's also in a great location just a five minute walk from the main shopping area and 10 mins from the beach. If you are wanting to travel further a field it's within easy access to the Plana office and bus stops for trips to Cambrils, Tarragona, Port Aventura plus many others.

Lovely clean hotel with very friendly staff. We went half board, and the food was really good, well above your normal Spanish hotel standard. Prices in the hotel were also very reasonable, around €3.50 for a lager or £1.75 for a coffee. Be aware that you will require some cash to get a towel for the pool as they won't accept a credit card for the deposit, and this is €10 per towel (fully refundable). The location is perfect, around a 10 minute walk to town, and it cost us around €16 for a cab to both the water park and go karting. If I had to make one small suggestion, the pools get very busy, and you have the normal situation of folks claiming beds with towels and than disappearing. The staff do put notices on these beds when this occurs, but dont appear to do anything else, i.e., remove the towels. All in all, it was a very good stay and would recommend it.

Thank you very much for sharing your experience with us and the Tripadvisor community. It is really complicated to manage towels at the pool, so please trust us when we tell you that we do our best to encourage people not to reserve towels. We look forward to welcoming you again soon at Golden Port Salou & Spa. Golden Guest Experience Team

This is a brilliant family hotel. 5 outdoor pools with plenty of sun lounges. There is an inside bar and also a pool side bar in the gregal cafe. The gregal cafe has snacks such as burgers, salads, pizzas, baquettes and sandwiches/toasties and is reasonably priced.
The staff in the hotel bar lounge are always going around to see if you would like another drink so you can sit back and relax. There is also a water dispenser at the entrance to the lounge that you can fill up your bottle.
The restaurant is a buffet. If you are not all inclusive the price for breakfast is 12 euro per adult and 8 euro per kid. The dinner is 18 euro per adult and 12 euro per kid. The buffet has a great selection and each night there is always a good selection for kids including pizza, chips, pasta, pasta sauces.
If you turn right outside the hotel, just a 2 minute walk on the corner beside la ceza restaurant is a small supermarket. If you then left outside hotel and take the next left, it will lead up to the strip of salou and the beachfront which is probably a 15 minute walk from the hotel.
There is a kids club each day from 10.30 to 12.15, 14.30 to 16.00 and 21.45 to 23.00. There is also a spa (pool, sauna, beauty treatments) in the hotel so you can give yourself some tlc during the kids club times. There is entertainment each night from 20.15 in the lounge bar such as balloon making and kiddies disco, kids also get called up on stage to recieve a certificate if they took part in the days activities. This is then followed by a quiz and night time entertainment. There are also activities for adults throughout the day too.
The room was cleaned daily (bed made, new towels) and also has tea/coffee and kettle.
This truly is a brilliant hotel for families with helpful, friendly staff.
Also recommend booking the 2 day ticket for portaventura and ferrari land and the House of Illusion show.

Came back from our holiday yesterday in Salou staying at the Golden Port Salou at would definately recommend!! We watched videos on youtube of the hotel before we came but tbey didnt do the hotel justice! • First impressions of the hotel were excellent, lovely clean fresh smell as soon as you walk through the door (and i dont mean disguising with bleach, I mean properly clean with a lovely light air freshener smell) and as someone who is fussy about cleanliness this hotel was spot on, you would regularly see staff working hard to keep the standards up • The food was lovely and the buffet had something for everyone, I dont eat fish and usually go for quite bland food and I still had lots to choose from. There were foods that were consistently there all week like pizza, pasta and sauces, different forms of potatoes, vegetables and then there was something different every night such as different meats, fajita wraps, curry, paella, different fish and also excellent desserts!!! The breakfast was fantastic too, the omelettes were delicious and the chef would make whatever flavour you asked for and my son absolutely loved the pancakes with nutella! Also a lovely cafebar as an extra place to eat or drink. •The pools were great and there are a couple of smaller ones for the smaller kiddies which was good. It was also nice to have the indoor pool which was a bit warmer as the outdoor ones were rather cold! The football/basketball court was great for my son who loves football and he also loved the bingo at nighttime! There was also plenty of pool tables which was good so there was no waiting around to play! • The room we had was great, we stayed in the family suites which is quite a new building so it was very modern and my son had his own room with a little dividing door for privacy. The balcony was a very generous size with a pull out airer for towels and swimwear which was handy. • Finally the location was bang on. 25 minutes from the airport in the coach so no extra travelling after your plane journey. It was less than 5 minute walk out the back of the hotel (which is secured access and you use your room key to go in and out the door) to the shops/bars/restaurants and a further 5 to the beach so a real central location. We went to Portaventura theme park which I would recommend if you or your family like rides and it was a 5 minute taxi ride away. We also went to the Caribe waterpark (situated in Portaventura world) which was brilliant, would definately recommend!
All in all a fantastic holiday in Salou, we didnt want to come home and that was mainly thanks to the Golden Port Salou!!

I have just come back from a 4 night stay and there is not one bad thing I can say about the hotel. We travelled as a family of five and stayed in two different rooms that had a connecting door which was a great surprise as we were not expecting to even be beside each other!
We had breakfast included and it was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had, there were so many hot and cold options and everything was constantly being refilled. It is a really organised system as they seat you when you come in so you are not scrambling to try and find a table! Breakfast starts at 8 but we had an early flight so were able to go in at 7 we just had to book it at reception!
We only ate pizzas and sandwiches for lunch in the hotel so can’t really comment on the food but they were absolutely delicious. The cocktails and delicious and very cheap, for two glasses of rosé and one cocktail it was €11! There is also lots of different flavours of ice cream served.
There is four pools, three outdoor and one indoor. As we were here in April they were a little bit cold but were 100% bearable. The indoor one is heated.
The staff are extremely friendly and a special mention to the lifeguard (unfortunately I do not know her name) who went above and beyond to help everyone around the pool and was extra kind to my nephew when she saw him wearing an Argentina jersey!!
I will 100% be back to stay in Golden Port and would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Salou

Pros: - The room was decent size and had modern flooring and closets. - Food was decent, although nothing to get excited about. - The swimming pools are ok, although very crowded. - The gym is ok. - Javier from the restaurant was always kind
Cons: It's just not a four star hotel. It's more like three and a half, at most. Here is why:
- Although the beach is 6 blocks away from the hotel, you can get actual 4 star family beach club hotels for the same price tag in other parts of the Mediterranean, or in Turkey. Just go there. - The views from the room were not good. Views of an old, tired block of flats. They don't show that in the pictures. By the way, pictures of the pool are clearly photoshopped. The hotel does not have a beach view, nor direct beach access. - They charge you for towels for the swimming pool. You have to leave a deposit of 10 euro per towel and 1 extra euro for each new one if you'd like to change them on another day. The 1 euro is not refundable. - It's a struggle to get a hold of a pool chair, as it is always so crowded. - They charge 20 euro per night of parking. - The All inclusive package only includes low quality alcoholic drinks. The beer (Cruzcampo) was particularly bad and wines were below average for Spain. On the first night when we asked for a glass of wine with dinner, a waiter told us: You only have included the house wine, so I asked what is that, to which they replied "it is absolute crap". She wasn't lying. Then we had to pay 8 extra euros for a bottle of another wine, which wasn't great either. - The lobby/restaurant/bar areas are outdated and feel like from the 80s. - There is only a small football court but no tennis, padel or any other outdoor sport facilities for adults.

Dear Carlos, Our wish is that all our guests fully enjoy their stay in our hotel. We regret that this was not the case for you. We will try by order to dispel certain doubts. Your room was pool view, we do not understand your comment. Nor do we understand that you say we have no beach view or direct access to the beach, is that our hotel is not advertised or sell beach view, perhaps you have looked at another Golden and have mixed information. Our staff are known for their excellent treatment and service offered to our guests, of course we have certain rules and procedures that apparently have not been to your liking. We are sorry but it is our duty to always explain them correctly and we do so on a daily basis when necessary. We have at the disposal of our clients the conditions of the hotel services on our website, among which is the All Inclusive. In the alcoholic beverages section we have national brands (gin, vodka, rum, whisky and brandy) and some international ones such as Ballantines, JB, Bacardi, Smirnoff, Beefeater, ... - Vermouth national brands and some international brands such as Martini, Campari, Ricard, Pernod, ... We also have information regarding our exclusive Golden Selection All Inclusive service in which there are no supplements. It is advisable to consult all the information on our website before booking to see all the options of room types and services we offer. As we have advertised the hotel has a garage with a cost of 20 € in high season. We know that on certain dates it can be full due to high occupancy or there are customers who want to park at a lower cost, that is why we always give alternatives so that our customers can park. The clients who stay with us have the possibility to enjoy our facilities, in no case we have advertised that we have in Golden Port Salou & Spa tennis or paddle court, maybe you were looking at the Golden Bahia de Tossa that has. Finally we respect the opinion of all our guests, but to be honest we do not believe that our staff is rude and unpleasant, as the comment you mention, as they always treat our customers in the same way and this is what the vast majority of our customers think and write in different portals like the one you have chosen to make your review, we have many good reviews about our staff. We greatly appreciate your comments as they help us to better understand your experience with us. We hope you will choose us again on your next visit to Salou, we are confident that you will have an excellent stay. Golden Port Salou & Spa Experience Team.

The first impression was fine, the staff was friendly and the room was in good order. The food was basically all fine and had a wide choice, sometimes for example the egg and/or bacon was on the cold side. There is a shortcut through the hotel to the boulevard that saves at least 10 minutes, a tip is to ask about this! During our stay 80% of the guests were British. From 6.30 am people start reserving beds with the so-called 'laying towel' phenomenon, but unfortunately the staff does nothing about this. In my opinion, a hotel should remove these unused towels so that guests who actually want to use the swimming pool and the associated beds also have a chance.

In 2022, we stayed in the Golden Avenida which is next door. I didn't have much to criticise there. This year, we decided to stay at the Golden Port Salou and Spa as it is rated slightly higher.
Let me start with the positives for Golden Port. To be fair, most of my feedback is positive...
-We booked via Booking.com and advised I am 7 months pregnant so requested a lower floor room which was accommodated. -All staff including reception, housekeeping, bar and dining staff are friendly. The 2 gents in the dining hall are exceptionally friendly and always take you to your table with a smile. -Varied entrainment throughout the day. The Fun&go staff are outgoing. -Location is great - far enough away from nightlife that it can't be heard but close enough to walk to if you're into that. -Hotel and rooms are very modern and cleaned daily. -Room is equipped with an electronic safe, free of charge -Room has fully functioning air con -Great all inclusive options at the bar including snacks (branded icecream including magnums). -We unfortunately had 3 rainy days (all day) and they have an indoor pool. -The pools are far warmer than most I've ever been in!
Areas for improvement: -The biggest annoyance is the amount of trees. Most of the pool area is shaded by trees for most of the day. Ideally you'd move around but naturally loungers are occupied. -We narrowly escaped a pinecone that fell from a VERY high tree! -Half of the rooms (outward facing) don't have a great view but I was just grateful for a first floor room. -Rooms are smaller here than they are at the Avenida. The Avenida had sofa which we used to put our suitcases on (we don't unpack😅) -We drove from the UK and parking is €20 per day which is slightly more than we've paid in previous hotels, although the parking is secure. For a less 'secure' car park, it'd have cost €9 per day. -Most other hotels we've stayed at have an onsite shop, Golden Port doesn't (neither does the Avenida hotel). However there are plenty of shops within walking distance. -You get shown/taken to a table at meal times and sometimes you're sat VERY close to other families, it could be mistaken to be part of the same family (same at the Avenida). -Evening entertainment is a little naff (likely personal preference). -No laundry service but I've read that you can take items next door if needed (at an additional charge which is fine).
All in all, I preferred the Avenida which is also marginally cheaper but if the pool area had less shaded areas, I'd be happy to return to the Golden Port Salou and Spa.

Just returned from a weeks stay and was really impressed with the hotel, first appearance was clean, friendly and check in was quick. There was 3 of us and the standard room we booked have been too small for us for a week, thankfully they had family rooms available and we could upgrade, the separate room made a big difference and would highly recommend. There is a rush like most hotels for sun beds but lifeguards did monitor and left cards for those who abandoned towels saying they would remove them if not returned in 10 mins. We went HB and food was nice, plenty of choice not always the warmest as per other comments but always found a meal, special mention to Javier who remembers everyone’s surname and is so welcoming every time he greets you, a credit to the hotel. The location is great, 2 minute walk out of the back entrance to bars/restaurants and further 5 mins to the beach. Overall a really enjoyable stay, the staff are well organised and helpful, would definitely return if we go back to Salou.

We arrived on the 23rd of July the girl on the desk while we where checking in was so helpful and friendly . Our room was on the fourth floor the room itself was clean but was quite small but it was doable to stay in the beds where comfy and cleaners came in everyday to clean and change the towels . We payed for the pool towels for the week which was €10 euro each which you get back when you check out . Breakfast was a buffet which had an amazing selection of food such as a fry , cereal , fruit and pancakes etc . The drink was so cheap . They had entertainment every night which downside to the entertainment it mostly finished by 11 which is understandable for families who have young children . There are 4 outdoors pools which 1 up the stairs is for adults but some parents allowed their children in or kick a ball around which is not the hotel or staffs fault . Only a 5 to 10 mins walk to the beach and other bars . We got a 2 day pass for portaventura off the hotel for €50 euro which is good deal overall we really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend anyone to go the staff are incredible and are so friendly and make you feel so welcome
