Hotel's Favourite
Excellent hotel I cannot recommend enough. Everything was spotless and the staff were so welcoming. I made a request before arrival on the off chance and was upgraded to a sea view room, free of charge! The food was excellent quality, self service buffet with plenty of choice and always somewhere to sit. The a la carte restaurant was “ok”, the steak was fab but sadly the starter and dessert were not nice. However, that’s personal preference so no reflection on the hotel at all. The drinks were great also, with bottled Amstel for drinking in the restaurant. The only negative I would say, is that the pool bar opens 10:30-18:00 and the pool is open from 0800-1900, so nowhere to get a drink by the pool for the first and last hours. There is a 24hr bar but there’s no plastic glasses so cannot take them by the pool. The Covid measures in place were good, with masks worn by all staff and guests when not seated. The hotel was also spotlessly clean. The rooms are spacious, I would highly recommend Room 630 with a great sea view and safe free of charge. The air con is adequate also for the temperature and there is an all inclusive mini bar in the room! The only thing is the beds were pushed together, I would have preferred just one double/king sized bed. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the beach and towels are provided (though not to be used at the beach). And there is no sun beds on the beach at all, I’m told due to local council restrictions! The hotel is also a 5 minute walk from the Yumbo Centre with plenty of restaurants, shops and bars. Highly recommend Ricky’s for a drag show which is a lot of fun! All in all I would give this hotel 5/5 stars, absolutely brilliant.

Just returned from a lovely rest at this hotel, good location 2 mins to prom and down some steps to the beach and Dunes, this hotel is so clean and spotless everywhere, all the staff and I mean all are courteous and polite. Food and drinks are good quality. Pool towels available, pools are cool but bearable. We had a large double on the first floor which was very nice. The beds and pillows are Very comfortable. The only negatives: Sun beds are hard so could do with pads also all the palm trees (as beautiful and well maintained as they are), block out the sun in many areas, Sausages are hot dog type no English style, maybe get disposable gloves for meal times as hardly anyone uses the hand gel, also a sign or maitre d’ to let you know to grab a table not to wait to be shown to a table, English channels on tv wouldn’t go a miss, and that’s it, otherwise we couldn’t fault the place! Im sure we’ll be back!

Had 10 days over the new year period and would certainly visit again. The room was clean and spacious with an exceptionally large shower. The food was varied of good quality, the staff were first class and very attentive. Evening entertainment excellent, One exceptional quality the hotel had during the difficult times was the cleanliness, inside, outside, pool area immaculate! Suppose the one slight negative, pool bit chilly for my liking.

We stayed at the Riu Palace Palmeras over the Christmas period from 20th - 27th December. We choose to stay here as we have previously stayed at the Riu Papayas in September 2021, our first time to gran canaria and first time staying at the Riu Papayas. We had such a lovely time visiting Gran Canaria and a fantastic stay at the Riu Papayas that we didn't hesitate in booking to come again for Christmas. When we travel we always stay at Riu Hotels due to the fantastic service and quality. We have stayed at many, Mexico, Aruba, Lanzarote etc. When booking for Christmas we were highly considering to stay back at the Riu Papayas again due to the fantastic experience we had, however we notice the Riu Palace Palmeras was not too far away in location and decided that as it was Christmas to spend the extra money and stay there. We have stayed at Riu Palace's before and it has definitely been worth the extra spend so we didn't hesitate in spending the extra which was £400.00 per person extra each compared to the Riu Papayas. We arrived on 20th December, hotel was lovely and decorated with Christmas decorations which was a nice start to our arrival. The reception and lobby area was immaculately clean and the reception staff very friendly and helpful. We were shown to our room and helped with our luggage up to our room with a luggage porter whom I cant remember his name but believe he was the Santa Claus on Christmas eve. The luggage porter was very helpful and friendly and showed us everything we needed to know etc, he was a fantastic and a credit to your hotel. Our room was excellent, we requested a top floor room which we got, we did pay for a sea view and we got a sea view as paid for so that was great. The view looks out to the sand dunes and to the sea and overlooks the pool which was lovely couldn't fault it. The room had everything we needed, a mini bar that was stocked and replenished, we had an iron and iron board, and safe in the room. The room was modern and spacious which made our stay very comfortable. The food in the buffet restaurant was great, good quality, and great service didn't have a problem finding any food as there was a lot to choose from. We booked into Krystal one night and had a lovely meal, would recommend and again the staff were friendly. The drinks at the hotel were good, plenty of choice however the cocktails were no difference to a normal Riu and not Palace standards. The hotel does have snack bar called pepe's which was great, you could have a late breakfast, or take lunch snacks to your sun lounger as they had takeaway containers which was a nice touch. Had no problem getting a sun lounger, plenty to choose from each day if we wanted one. The sun loungers were comfortable, and the pool area was clean. The entertainment was good in the main area over Christmas but not Christmassy. apart from the decorations, and Santa clause delivering presents on Christmas eve , I didn't really feel like I was there for Christmas which was a shame. The piano bar was lovely but again light Christmas music could of been played instead of the music they had playing. We sat near the piano one night whilst waiting to go into Krystal restaurant and the pianist was playing, it would of been nice for him to play some Christmas tunes. The gala dinner on Christmas day was also disappointing, as this was no different to the other days we ate in there. All in all the hotel is great, clean, great service, good location, and covid safe, however I don't rate this hotel as a palace and would not pay the extra to stay here again. I feel that had we had known in advance then we would of definitely stayed at the riu papayas and saved our self a few ££. I feel we overpaid for an experience that we didn't receive in relation to it not being christmassy and that the drinks were no different in standard to a normal riu class hotel.
