Overall, this is a nice motel in a great location at a reasonable price. Friendly and helpful staff. Very minimal breakfast. Needs heavier blanket for bed. Crowded parking. Good value. Would stay again.
Mistake on my part it was a last minute trip & the only vacancy in town. That should have been my first clue. Thin towels ( only 2 bath & 2 wash cloths no hand towels) very small room & little roaches, NO water pressure thin walls & noisy & breakfast was a joke. Sleep in your car on the beach & you will be more comfortable.
Booked the room online, was able to check in early and even have them move our room to the main floor. Continental breakfast was okay. What I was not impressed with was the German roaches in the room. We ended up keeping most of our stuff in our vehicle for fear of bringing back roaches. Pool looked inviting but I never used it.
Horrible experience due to an outside spotlight that shined at a slant between the curtain and opposite wall making the room very bright at night. I could not sleep the three nights we were there. The hotel was extremely overpriced (219+ 40 tax per night) due to the time we were there. I had checked hotels six weeks before and there were only a couple left under $200. The price went up from Thursday night at 129 to a weekend rate of $219. This is Port A and one of the prettiest beaches of Texas and only a couple of weekends left before school started so they have you trapped. But back to the accommodations. The room itself is small, dark, with no decorations at all...no pictures or welcoming decor. One small window with no view...there are no views from this hotel period. The night manager called us the night before our reservation date at 10:15 PM after we had gone to sleep, waking us up to ask what time we would check-in the next day. Was not appreciated. This part is embarrassing but while I was sitting on the toilet, someone in another room flushed their toilet and a geyser of dirty water hit my bottom...very disgusting. The TV had no guide so you couldn't figure out the channels. The lights outside on the walkway were so bright which also made our room brighter at night (couldn't they use softer less wattage bulbs). The breakfast was lame--not much left at 8:45--fruit loops, corn flakes and some muffins--we passed on it and went to Whataburger. Now the good things: It was clean, beds were comfy, there was a single cup coffeemaker which I do not like but at least a coffeemaker in the room, plus a microwave and refrigerator. They did supply coffee each day and there was maid service each day, although one day she did not wash the coffeecups or leave new plastic glasses. Soap, shampoo and conditioner were furnished. I am a budget minded frequent traveler and this is the most I have ever paid for a marginal quality hotel anywhere. Spend a little more and find one of the many condos out there, many with views. It was just peak season and nothing else was available. You can be assured we will never return to this hotel.…
I stayed here while waiting for furniture I purchased for my new home in Port A. From the hosts to the room, everything was great! Room was clean, bed very comfortable and new furnishings nice. Great location! Even better was the reasonable price! Would definitely recommend this hotel.
