The hotel was under renovations which were not noted on the website. The fumes from the paint and or materials gave me a headache to the point I couldn’t even sleep. I asked to cancel the reservation and get a refund. The manager denied my request because I had pre-paid for the room. On top of this the room was not clean and not as advertised. There were cigarette burns on the blankets, the A/C was leaking on the floor, the flooring was separating, the bathroom door was broke, the toilet seat was broke, the outlet at the sink was broke and not functioning, the light fixture had dead bugs in it and it looked like someone was murdered on the mattress.

So ya, we were looking for an affordable place to stay in Richardson for 2 nights and the price definately played a large part in our choice of places to stay, but give me a break... So first off, lady at desk couldn't speak english for anything so check-in was a whole thing. We finally check-in and then learn there is no elevator and we are upstairs; annoying for sure. We get in our room and find the toilet seat is barely attached and almost launches you in the floor when used, the sliding door to the bathroom doesn't work correctly and doesn't close, the shower door doesn't close all the way and lets water flood the floor, there are burn spots in the bedspread of the non-smoking room, and there are no spare pillows only 1 each. Those were the "small" inconvienences, then there were the big issues; The hotel is evidently used as housing and those folks think they own the place and have no problem at all slamming doors and yelling and laughing very loudly at 2:00, 3:00, 4:00 am out in the hallway. There is zero way to get any sleep in this place, zero!! Evidently the walls are paper thin because when the guy next door "got home" at 2am, he turned his tv up so loud that I could literally tell exactly what he was watching (for hours)! As if the first night wasn't bad enough, we returned to the room the next evening to find that no one had done any type of room service; No new towels, no toilet paper, bed still unmade.... no service at all! So where we were looking for value, we really just ended up with bad service, two nights of no sleep due to noise level, unacceptable room/amenities and nothing good to say about the whole experience!

This hotel is very nice. Updated rooms, great staff. Priced right. Breakfast is okay. Small stuff but does have waffles. This place is now part of my network & I will be staying here again. The entrance is kind of tricky because on coming traffic already off ramp sometimes will not be very nice & let you in. Just be careful on approach.

I am only giving this place a star because I have to. My husband and I went out for a fun date night and wanted to stay the night in a hotel and just spend a fun and easy night together. We call to make a reservation and advised the front desk we would pay in cash upon arrival. They advised they needed to have a card on file to hold the room. My husband gave them his debit card# and it got declined - we thought that was weird, but okay. We then used my credit card to hold the room. When we arrived, my husband paid them the cash for the room and was advised no charges were made to the room. WRONG They actually charged my husbands debit card AND charged my credit card - not once, but TWICE for this room. They also charged my husband for the incorrect amount. The management was the ABSOLUTE WORST at getting this issue resolved. We were advised by the assistant manager Heena that we would need to speak with a Peter and he would be in the office from 9:30-11 am. I would call- and every time he would have left by 11am. At one point, an employee advised there was no manager named Peter. My husband and I had to call Choice Hotels and file two official complaints before Heena even decided to take our calls and half listen to us. We were also advised that Heena was in fact - the manager who could handle all of this. After having a $97 hold on my husbands card and a $160 hold on mine, plus the $85 we spent on the room, this hotel was looking at making a profit of almost $350. DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT STAY HERE. This manager Heena is an absolute joke and should be fired for lying to their customers. We have tried for weeks to speak with them and have them refund our initial stay since their screw up cost us not to buy groceries for three weeks for our children and she has refused to communicate or make anything write. After filing so many complaints - she finally released the holds on mine and my husbands cards btw - took three weeks - but she finally did it - even though she lied and said she couldn't. So if you want to get screwed out of your money - DO NOT STAY HERE

Greetings, Thank you staying with us and we appreciate your feedback. As we discussed in email it was a system glitch and your credit card was charged wrongly. It is very uncommon for us and we are sorry that happened to you, we have already submitted the proof of refund that has been done to you. Please email us back if you have any further concerns. Thank you, Peter General Manager Econolodge Inn & Suites Richardson, TX

Arrived and found the place ok. The day time lady receptionist was miserable. She did not smile. She was rude in her delivery when speaking, all in all if she hates the job ( she displays that she does) she should leave and give someelse a chance of a job. The man in the afternoon shift wasn't much better but at least he sort of smiled. These people have to remember customers pay their salaries. A fact they appear to have forgotten. They also seem to forget there are loads of other hotels around this area so customers have a choice and don't need them or their hotel The room. Is ok and basic. No carpet on the floor, it has a type of false wood covering stuck on the floor. This is really dangerous when you step out of the shower with wet feet I nearly slide across the room and caused my self a lot of pain. Room cleanliness is ok. However out in the hall the carpet was very sticky and was horrible to walk on. The carpet in the hall was covered in mess. Miss miserable from downstairs saw This she. She came up stairs for her break step over it and walked into the staff room. She appeared to be not bothered about the mess. The room was supposed to be no smoking yet it stunk of smoke. If you are not desperate for a place to stay avoid this place there are plenty of other hotel around here who I am sure what your custom and give better service and value for money.

Greetings, Thank you for staying with us, we apologize that your stay at our property was not up to par, we removed carpet from all our rooms and installed vinyl flooring which is choice approved. We are sorry for the dirty hallway, we will fix that from now. We will also check for the smoking smell in room and fix that too. Thank you for the feedback, we hope to see you again soon.
