This is an old hotel with new hard working owners. Very happy with our your. It was clean, the water pressure was incredible, with very hot water. The mattresses are new so we had a very restful night. It is a work in progress but the owner was extremely polite to accommodate our needs. It is the only hotel in the city but four the price you get a clean comfortable and SAFE room. I will reserve again in the future.
We stayed during weekend of 03/16/18 through 03/18/18. Our room was clean and provided a good place to freshen up and rest after a long day in local Trinity, Texas area without having to go all the way to Huntsville, TX. We reserved a room in advance. We do hope the rooms will get minors updating: fresh paint and carpet, fix the curtains. The owners were a pleasant couple, very inviting and nice. We would stay here again for its convenience.
I stay there about once a year because it is, as someone else has mentioned, the "last resort". There are no other hotels in town. Some of the problem areas...rooms are old and would benefit from update...especially carpets and paint. Definitely one level below Motel 6....And I think it was the only hotel I have ever stayed in that did not have a coffee pot and I travel a lot!...it did have a small micro and refrigerator. When I asked the gentleman at the front desk about a coffee pot, he said people steal them, so they do not provide them. Odd, because the micro is a very small one. .... I was curious as to why they do not steal those??? The plusses: The rooms were clean and the people were friendly and it was convenient to cafes and restaurants. It was certainly a good value for $$$$, but don't forget that coffee pot!…
We stay there every year because it's the only hotel in town. But it is in need of updates. Curtains were falling off the windows. Paint chipped on the walls. Tons of workers stay here. The guy upstairs sounded like it was tap dancing. Plus is staff very friendly and no smoke smell in our room.
Stayed there in late May. Place is reasonably clean (although whatever they are using to disinfect the carpet smells like something used to disinfect carpet) and the bed (not pillows) was actually decent for me. Shower (a prefab tub/shower unit) worked well and had good pressure and hot water. Biggest problem with the place are the trains that go by throughout the night, sounding their horns with each pass. Not up to the level of what I suspect one would find in a Motel 6. Next time I will stay in Huntsville and commute.
