We only went for the day, but this is a large park with different entertainment options to keep you busy for a 2-3 night stay. The kids had a blast feeding the prairie dogs. The staff is very friendly. There aren't any tall trees, so don't expect a forest feel at the park... it is the beginnings of west TX....

Weekend getaway with good and bad memories. To start, upon arrival at our site we were welcomed with A LOT of wasp. While they weren't aggressive, they were annoying. The campsite had trees that were trimmed and left laying on the ground which made good homes for the rats that scurried out after dark. Good food for snakes that I was hoping...

We visited recently and have some positive and negative issues. Positive: easy to get to, friendly staff, nice camping set up (sectioned in cul du sacs), own fire pit and covered table, fishing close to camp sites, beautiful park and well kept, bathrooms are very clean (toilets and showers) If you plan to fish from the dock, be warned it's...

Really nice for camping. Facilities are adequate and a good deal to do and see. The prairie dogs are fascinating & adequate fishing and camping areas. Very friendly staff as well as helpful. A number of hiking and riding trails await the explorer.

This park is around 10 miles west from Hwy 287. I take a break here when going between Amarillo and Dallas mainly to watch the prairie dogs and occasionally picnic. I have never seen many other people here but maybe they are busier on the weekends. Very nice fishing piers and picnic areas. Park employees are very friendly.

We stayed here in the beginning of November and the park is very beautiful, great layout, huge sites, lots of grass....but the hornets were in every campsite nesting in the picnic covers and trying to nest in our motorhome.....so a bad time of year. The other problem were the red ants. Their nests were everywhere, as well. Horrible biters. It...

We camped 3 nights as we are on a mission to camp every state park in Texas! Staff was excellent and very friendly. We camped near the oil derek which sounded like a sick lawnmower! LOL! It bothered us a bit the first night, but we barely noticed it the next 2. We were awakened at 1:30 a.m by a...

Nice quiet state park. Staff is exceptional, restrooms clean. Good cell and tv reception. The star of the park are the prarie dogs. Very cute - love to watch them scurry to their holes and make that little barking sound. Weather was perfect - ate at the picnic tables and no insects.

Lovely Park, good hiking, biking, fishing ---- however, the oil derek there 'clangs' (metal on metal) about every 10 seconds, noisy. Can hear it about anywhere in the park. Difficult to sleep if you're in a tent. Choose your campsite wisely. If you don't like where you are in the park, just choose another site, go back to the office,...

My husband and I enjoyed part of an afternoon at Lake Arrowhead State Park. The lake is large. They have a large area for launching boats and parking trucks and trailers. There was a prairie dog town around the swimming area. They were so cute and very brave. The fishing pier was very nice. The camping area was about average...
